Premier League / Football League Thread 2011-12
Not as surprised as I was on Saturday when I witnessed first hand the most rare of all footballing events; one which occurs only when the planets align in a very specific way and the bluest of moons are seen in the sky - a Sunderland away win. And a deserved one at that.

'Seekir' is probably the only thing i'd listen to more than once really, the rest I can give or take.

Premier League / Football League Thread 2011-12
Eh, we're not a popular team really. I think between ourselves and Newcastle it's usually the Geordies that neutrals prefer to see doing well, just going from what i've seen/heard around. Man United fans sometimes have a bit of a soft spot for us, but that's probably because our last two managers have been ex-United players and we've nicked half of their reserve players. I'm not usually one for having an affiliation towards a team because of players or managers, an example would be that I like Mick McCarthy, genuine footballing bloke, but i've got no real strong feelings either way towards Wolves. I've got the slightest soft spot for Everton, as random as that is, and i've no idea why. It certainly isn't because of results because we haven't beaten them in the league since 2001

I know lads that come over for matches from all over the country, and even from Sweden, Ireland, Scotland etc and i've asked them all why the hell they would willingly choose to support us. It's a strange one. If I hadn't been born into it (Surely there's some form of child cruelty law against it?) and didn't actually come from Sunderland I doubt i'd have strong feelings one way or the other towards us, we're a very unfashionable team who give the fans very little to cheer about.

Showing us winning and telling people that's what they'd have to look forward to would be classed as false advertising.

Quinn's giving up his role as chairman to be our International identity something or other, handing the reins to Ellis Short. Apparently it'll be the "same people" running the club, but from what i've heard Short's been bringing in other American shareholders and whatnot. It doesn't seem like a massive change on the face of things, but what I think will be interesting is seeing how long our re-organised boardroom will put up with the dirge we've been producing under Bruce...

Suarez is a nasty little cunt. [/input] In more interesting news, Shteve McLaren's resigned as Forest manager after a meeting with the board. Hardly a surprise given how abysmal their start to the season's been. Nottingham Forest can have Bruce and we'll have Hughes or O'Neill plz :D

Surely that's Giggs? As for yesterday, Steve Bruce is a lucky, lucky man. If Bendtner hadn't played so well he'd be out of a job.

No thank you. The novelty of his ridiculous accent would soon wear thin, I think.
