MAGA Langley can very well chart below top ten imo. Why should the UK care about Texas anyway.

Half of the US success of Choosin Texas is Texas girls thinking they are 'Texas' and missing the point of the song.

The charts are a measure of what's currently popular, people need to deal with the fact that at some points that might be a lot of older songs. And anyway why 3 years? How would they arbitrarily decide on a threshold?

3 years is too generous. HMV wouldn't stock CD singles after a few months. I wouldn't want to lose songs discovered later than their release. Like Cruel Summer. So maybe the limit needs to be 2 years after their first appearance in the top 40? If its been top 40, its been a hit and run its course. If it comes back, its not a rediscovery of a formerly forgotten track but a revival.

looking at the legacy acts mentioned (and some I've added) Killers and RHCP are firmly in front in terms of British Spotify listeners (well strictly speaking London only but a good indication). I suspect RHCP would be ahead if you took away the bias of Mr Brightside.

    849k The Killers

    808k Red Hot Chili Peppers

    701k Radiohead

    575k Green Day

555k Bob Marley & The Wailers

    551k The Cure

    331k Dolly Parton

    290k Led Zeppelin

Honestly the vast majority of these are not surprising. Huge names but the UK is heavily bias to pop and dance music.

Just seen that HMV have an in-store only 7” vinyl for Olivia next week - they haven’t announced what it is yet but guessing it’ll be for ‘The Cure’ - could help it challenge for the top spot?

I think it needs Rein me In to go ACR and a push to get it away from Ariana
