  1. Of all the songs to take off for Snow Patrol, it had to be this one?
  2. They devote an entire section to solo covers and no Say You'll be mine? :o
  3. Its one of those cases where every time you look at it you see something they missed. Yet they include multiple tracks by The Strokes and Klaxons song, typical indie press. Speaking of, no Editors?
  4. I'm not sure about the order at all. They are trying to balance, quality, their indie cred and cultural pervasion and not really creating a list of anything. Some of the songs they put above Maps and Everlong is a disgrace. Then some of the song choices are iffy, no Somebody Told me by the Killers. Foos only having one entry and no Best of You? Choosing Dog Days are Over ahead of Cosmic Love by Florence? Choosing Over and Over by Hot Chip and not And I was a Boy from School? 139 Coldplay – “Yellow” 136 Kelis – “Milkshake” 135 Kelly Clarkson – “Since U Been Gone” 132 Daft Punk – “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” 129 The Strokes – “Reptilia” 127 En Vogue – “Don’t Let Go (Love)” 126 Hole – “Celebrity Skin” 117 Blink-182 – “What’s My Age Again?” 107 Radiohead – “No Surprises” 105 Cornershop – “Brimful Of Asha (Fatboy Slim Remix)” 103 Lady Gaga – “Poker Face” 99 MGMT – “Kids” 92 Peter Bjorn & John – “Young Folks” 89 The Futureheads – “Hounds Of Love” 88 Jeff Buckley – “Everybody Here Wants You” 87 The Streets – “Dry Your Eyes” 83 Kylie Minogue – “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head” 81 Outkast – “Ms. Jackson” 79 Blur – “Song 2” 78 The Verve – “The Drugs Don’t Work” 75 Manic Street Preachers – “A Design For Life” 74 Muse – “Supermassive Black Hole” 69 Kanye West – “Jesus Walks” 64 La Roux – “In For The Kill” 63 Rihanna – “Umbrella” 58 Destiny’s Child – “Say My Name” 57 Eminem – “Lose Yourself” 56 The Killers – “All These Things That I’ve Done” 55 Yeah Yeah Yeahs – “Maps” 51 Sugababes – “Overload” 50 The Chemical Brothers – “Hey Boy Hey Girl” 48 Foo Fighters – “Everlong” 43 Mumford And Sons – “Little Lion Man” 37 Coldplay – “The Scientist” 35 Johnny Cash – “Hurt” 34 Gossip – “Standing In The Way Of Control” 32 Gnarls Barkley – “Crazy” 30 Robyn – “With Every Heartbeat” 28 the xx – “Islands” 27 Franz Ferdinand – “Take Me Out” 24 Jay-Z – “99 Problems” 23 The White Stripes – “Seven Nation Army” 20 Bloc Party – “Banquet” 18 Queens Of The Stone Age – “No One Knows” 16 Beyoncé – “Crazy In Love” 13 Jay-Z & Alica Keys – “Empire State Of Mind” 12 MGMT – “Time To Pretend” 11 Arctic Monkeys – “I Bet You Look Good On The Dance Floor” 09 The Verve – “Bitter Sweet Symphony” 08 Amy Winehouse – “Rehab” 06 The White Stripes – “Fell In Love With A Girl” 05 The Killers – “Mr. Brightside” 03 OutKast – “Hey Ya!” 02 Arcade Fire – “Rebellion (Lies)” Those are the only ones I would personally include in a list like this and not in that order.
  5. I prefer Never Say Never and Over My Head mainly because HTSAL was overplayed

  7. That explains it then.
  8. To be honest, I'm surprised she got a second album. I didn't think she did that well previously
  9. DAT FONT

Do the music channels even have it yet? I haven't seen it anywhere.
  11. Much better than the crap lead single but I can't help think she's going backwards. Shocking sexuality and blasphemy? Really Madonna, leave that crap to the kids, you grew beyond that.
  12. Stunning. Stunning. Stunning. Just like everything else on Ray of Light. Its anthemic, atmospheric and arresting. Tomorrow, I'll have words beginning with B to describe it!

Not always. Greatest Hits in the truest sense of the word should be a summation of a career, not the irrelevancies that get pushed these days. We get greatest hits half way through careers, or more frustratingly 2/3s of the way into careers like the Backstreet Boys. Madonna's Immaculate Collection is dead for two reasons, its not a chronicle of her career highs anymore because some of her biggest highs were to come after with Ray of Light, Evita and Confessions on the Dancefloor. Its also been overridden by a more complete version of her greatest hits. Queen and Abba at the other hand are at the end of their careers and in the instance of Queen will never reach that pinnacle again without Freddie. Their greatest hits are a complete retrospective and they will continue to sell for generations to come. EDIT- I just counted, a satisfactory Madonna Greatest Hits would have to include around 42 songs. From Holiday to Girl Gone Wild.
  14. Its 40% behind on KWORB
  15. John legend is alright too, he's no Kate Bush though! Seriously side eyeing the british public at buying Birdy and not Bonny Bear.
  16. I spy one of Kate Bush's best songs 'This Woman's Work' The Voice?

Yes, of course but I see no reason to have it now when Celebration is out at least. Its a dead album IMO. There is no impetus for anyone to buy it except completism. Michael is an artist I greatly admire but I have never had that fan impulse about him. I love his hits, mostly his 80s stuff but I wouldn't want to get just Thriller and Bad and miss out those later songs that I do kind of like. Hence why I'm feeling the need for a greatest hits. Then I'd have to get the Jackson 5 stuff separately... Phil is a great artist. I'm not ashamed to day that. Its rare for a solo male to have that many recognisable hits.
  18. That isn't his best? I'm mesmerized by it. First song of the year I have adored.

1- GREATEST HITS- Queen- I appreciate their singles of course but I've never really been a fan 2- SGT PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND- The Beatles- I come from Liverpool, there is only so much I can take of these guys 3- GOLD- GREATEST HITS- Abba- I am ashamed I don't own this but I do have the singles as downloads 4- (WHAT'S THE STORY) MORNING GLORY?- Oasis- I'm waiting for a definitive greatest hits. Love their singles not interested in an album 5- THRILLER- Michael Jackson- I have all the singles as Downloads but I want a great greatest hits. 6- 21- Adele- The singles are spectacular, the rest is a bit meh. Release Turning Tables and all the greats will be taken from this album 7- BROTHERS IN ARMS- Dire Straits- Never been interested 8- DARK SIDE OF THE MOON- Pink Floyd- Never been interested 9- BAD- Michael Jackson- see above 10- GREATEST HITS II- Queen- see above 11- THE IMMACULATE COLLECTION- Madonna- I don't see the point of having a greatest hits covering so little of her career 12- BACK TO BLACK- Amy Winehouse- I have the singles, heard the entire thing on Zane Lowe and didn't love it. 13- STARS- Simply Red- I don't even know what songs are on this. Holding back the years? I like that one 14- RUMOURS- Fleetwood Mac- Dreams is great (I love the deep dish remix as well) but my fave FM song is Everywhere. 15- COME ON OVER- Shania Twain- I must own this but I don't but I must 16- BACK TO BEDLAM - James Blunt- I have it but I can't remember my opinion. I hate that 'You're Beautiful' makes my love of 'Goodbye my Lover' embarrassing 17- URBAN HYMNS- The Verve  18- BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER- Simon & Garfunkel- Another one where the big album doesn't have the best songs. The sound of Silence and Mrs Robinson would be my favourites here. 19- NO ANGEL- Dido- I have it but can't remember enough of it to gage an opinion. Here With Me is the the first I heard of Dido, in 1999 when it was the opening titles to Roswell. 20- SPIRIT- Leona Lewis- no 21- LEGEND- Bob Marley & The Wailers- Not a style of music I'm interested in 22- BAT OUT OF HELL- Meat loaf- LOL 23- DIRTY DANCING- Original Soundtrack- Don't have it but its a mum's classic. 24- 1- The Beatles- see above 25- TALK ON CORNERS- The Corrs- I have their greatest hits which was very definitive. I need not own any more Corrs albums. 26- WHITE LADDER- David Gray   Please forgive Me, Babylon, This Year's Love, Sail Away...Scorcher of an album 27- SPICE- Spice Girls-- I'm not objective, this was my childhood  28- CRAZY LOVE- Michael Buble- I have the Home and Lost singles but I think they were on other albums 29- LIFE FOR RENT- Dido- Despite having No Angel I don't have this one. 30- BEAUTIFUL WORLD- Take That- Rule the World! What is it with their soundtracking Matthew Vaughn movies, Love Love was great too 31- THE FAME- Lady Gaga- Pop Classic.  So many classic singles and I still think Monster should have been released. Its a monster of a song 32- A RUSH OF BLOOD TO THE HEAD- Coldplay- I want a greatest hits, not interested in the albums 33- HOPES AND FEARS- Keane- Somewhere only we know was played to death but I can still appreciate bedshaped 34- THE JOSHUA TREE- U2- Don't have it, never heard it. Not really a fan of U2. My fave of theirs is Electrical storm 35- ....BUT SERIOUSLY- Phil Collins- Nothing will top his Tarzan soundtrack. Sorry Phil 36- SCISSOR SISTERS- Scissor Sisters- Never heard it. Wasn't a huge fan of them. 37- ONLY BY THE NIGHT- Kings Of Leon- The two singles are great but a total departure from the quirky Molly's Chambers KOL 38- THE WAR OF THE WORLDS- Jeff Wayne- Never heard it. 39- THE MAN WHO....- Travis   Gorgeous. Driftwood may be my favourite song of 1999. Writing to Reach you is a good second. Followed by Why does it always rain on me. 40- X & Y- Coldplay- See above
  20. Seems like a bit of a flop by Madonna's standards. Even American Life had two hit singles.
  21. I like the megamix. It must be hard to do a remix when the songs have such different tempos. It was a great way to end the era and didn't include the boring 'Part of Me'. Hurrah! Katy can move on now. It feels like she's been milking Teenage Dream forever.
  22. You're top 4 is my top 4, with Can't Catch Tomorrow rounding out a top 5
  23. There wasn't a megahit on 4 though. I think they thought Run the World could become a massive girl power anthem but it didn't work at all.
  24. I agree. While there are one or two songs I adore from him, Forever and Beautiful People in particular. I would never, ever buy his songs. I just don't want to support his behaviour. It felt like it today but I guess its official now!
  25. Again, nothing new. I am NOT buying Teenage Dream again for 2 songs and Part of Me is crap anyway. I'm expecting a few old albums from Amazon. Sarah McLachlan- Fumbling Towards Ecstasy Fiona Apple- Tidal Sugababes - Taller in More Ways Sheryl Crow- Tuesday Night Music Club
