8.8 from Pitchfork? 10 from NME? I’m genuinely baffled by the rave reviews. There are some interesting elements (most are undercooked though) and the production is impressive throughout but it is oddly inconsistent considering just how cohesive the album is.

'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' and 'Rake' look bad but could get better with time. We shall see. Can anyone think of pilot trailers from the past few years that actually looked good? I can't recall any other than 'Awake'.

Wow most of these look genuinely dreadful. Something is wrong when CBS seem to have the best pilots! 'Hostages' (yay Toni Collette) and 'The Crazy Ones' (nay Sarah Michelle Gellar) are the only ones that don't look TOO awful. I just hope they sit Robin Williams down after the first few episodes and tell him to calm it. 'Mom' looks like a genuine hit in the making but still crap. Allison Janney is better than chasing all these TV pilots. :(

I don't think I've ever seen a film go from something like 95% on Rotten Tomatoes (UK Release) to 78% after the American release, or maybe I just don't look into these things enough.
