  1. I'm curious to see how well Creator's Universe campaign actually goes. They're “influencers”, fine, but does anyone on that platform care about downloading music? Some of them do seem pretty confident about their chance of success…

  3. Are "Creator's Universe" asking for pre-orders for their song, or are they aiming to get 60,000+ sales in a single week?
  4. I think it will end up #12 - #15.
  5. I haven’t heard of any of those people.
  6. I’m starting a campaign for Gregory Porter's "Christmas Wish" to be Christmas #1. It's a jolly little jazzy bop!
  7. Bet 365 has Peter Kay at 14/1 and Black Eyed Peas at 20/1??? (And LadBaby at 12/1)
  8. Current Amazon Playlists:Amazon Christmas Original (#1)Christmas Present (#1) You’re Christmas or Mine 2 (#1)Feel Good Christmas (#3) Greatest Christmas Songs (#5) Top 50 Most Played (#6) 🆕 Christmas Party (#7)UK Made (#9)Merry Mix (#10)Hot Singles (#10)All Hits (#15)
  9. Can the media straight-up encourage people to download a song, or do they need to have guests do the nudging? For example, could they keep reminding viewers about the Christmas #1 song, giving the Pogues some love, without actually telling people to download it? I ask because they did a lot of this kind of thing on Good Morning Britain and This Morning before Ukraine won Eurovison, and they had guests telling viewers that Ukraine must win.

  11. Yes, but I'm not sure if it's 100% accurate. Amazon says “300+ bought in the last month” but both items are on pre-order.
  12. On second look: the 7-inch vinyl has two songs for £13.99 and the CD has four songs for £6.99. Both have each sold over 300 copies, but I'm not sure if they count towards the total.
  13. I don’t know if this has been mentioned but “Last Christmas” has a 7-inch vinyl and CD on pre-order for release December 15th, and with streaming already on the rise, it's looking like they will make #1.
  14. Added to the A List on Radio 2.
  15. Hate Any Christmas song by Michael Bublé.
  16. Amazon do country-specific playlists. It can’t be that hard surely?
  17. Yes, but they did say they want Christmas Number One! I’m not ruling them out just yet.
  18. Today I learned that “Chocolate Salty Balls" was almost the Christmas Number One in 1998…. :o
  19. I was also taking into account surprise releases. If Sidemen drop a song, Pogues might need far beyond 20,000. Most of the punters betting probably haven't even heard of Sidemen, but they were so close last year, they might give it another go. Then there are the rock fans who want AC/DC to take it, and don't forget the Krackpots, they're releasing a single and it might have 15 versions. I’m not sure whether it will just be FONY vs Last Christmas.

Sam has a pull on the general public but I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. He is notoriously bad when it comes to promoting his music. He will mention things once, and then you never hear another word about it. He forgot to even say when his Christmas song was being released or what platform it was on, which proves my point further.
  21. It would probably take around 40,000 downloads, which is definitely doable. However, I've noticed that people's attention spans can be pretty short-lived. They'll get attached to the nostalgia for a few days, and then move on just as fast. This might be an exception, though.
  22. Piers Morgan has started the campaign.
  23. Taylor’s marketing strategies are consistently creative and engaging and she has a super loyal fanbase. She's not like Ed Sheeran, who doesn't really have a fanbase, and just keeps pumping out music until everyone's sick of it.
  24. Good news about the CD! The BBC announced he’s performing on the Christmas Day Special of Strictly Come Dancing.
  25. “Michelle McManus: After All This Time” Part of the BBC festive schedule. ^_^
