Fought & Lost is a standalone single for Ted Lasso. Jason Sudeikis attended the Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert and asked Sam to collaborate on a song with the concept to foreshadow the season finale. It's a tribute to Freddie Mercury as in the storyline he is revealed as a former owner of the football club. :cry:

I think that is intentional? The Brian May inclusion is a giveaway and it was written with Tom Howe for Ted Lasso and there were lots of Queen tidbits in the episode. Otherwise he or his regular guitarist would perform it.

This song is fine but I feel like it's missing something. It's a bopper but it's not a banger and it could get overshadowered by other entries that will elevate in Liverpool. The pre-chorus is the strongest part and the rest is so basic and generic. I won't compare Mae to Sam but it's a step down from SPACE MAN and LOSE MY HEAD in terms of songwriting My worry is UK fans will overestimate their chances. I've already seen people discredit SPACE MAN as a weak song which is false. Sam turned a well-written pop song with soaring stadium-ready chorus about loneliness into an anthemic power ballad, grabbed the hearts of Europe in the process and made it a potential winner. TaP Music and the BBC didn't do that. He did. I would place I WROTE A SONG from 15th - 21st at the moment.

It includes a double chorus which she repeats 3 times. The main criticisms I’ve seen are it’s repetitive and it builds and builds to an apex but there’s no musical payoff.

Is there anything credible that it could be the Eurovision entry or is it a bunch of wishful thinking / trolling?

The most evidence is for Rina Sawayama and Freya Ridings but it could be neither. There’s no reason to follow the same strategy as last year, the song might not be out yet who knows.

It’s Sam, it’ll be a miracle if he mentions it. Personally I can’t see it being officially released as a single.

I remain skeptical because it was only last week people were calling Marcus and Martinus the Melfest winners. Loreen isn’t a huge star in Sweden there is no guarantee they will choose her over someone new.

I was humming the chorus this morning but it’s a bit repetitive after a while. They could chop off 40 seconds. I can see it being a hit though she is consistent on that front.

I don’t get the appeal of Wet Leg they seem like a band the critics want to push instead of the fans making them famous. Best New Artist is all well and good but I don’t see them being more successful than Rina or Mimi Webb long-term. She wants to be like Adele who didn’t win that either so you go girl.
