  1. Hi, just leaving this here on behalf of a co-worker at my local radio station. Rate all these songs for his chart of the year! Thanks in advance https://questionpro.com/t/AW6exZ4wpf
  2. I know Wham entered the YTD on the penultimate week of the year last year but has it done the same before?

As much as I don't like Drake I couldn't bring myself to vote/nominate any of his diss tracks, I thought they were some of his best work ever, unfortunately for him they were shut down straight away by the far superior Kendrick tracks. Hoping to never see him on the charts again now. Lemme hear you say "OV-HO"
  4. Where is Dancing in the Dark? Had a big re-entry on the audio streaming charts in Halloween week then fell straight back out so no clue how it's doing. Also is the audio streaming chart a better indicator of a song's performance than the overall streaming chart?

Mercifully Man In Finance didn't go any higher than 89 but I can imagine it would get more votes if it went top 40. It's like the whole Wellerman thing from 2021 done totally wrong. The original Girl on Couch TikTok was a total joke that no one would unironically enjoy, people really liked the original Wellerman Tiktok and that's why that remix worked. Sheer greed from Mr Guetta at this point

Hoping Carnival is as high as possible :puke2: and Not Like Us is as low as possible...
  7. Definitely not because it's a right wing protest song for pensioners who are definitely not going to stream it :D Unless the S*n get on board, looks like GBeebies already love it

Lot of the anti-One Dance stuff just sounds like boomers being out of touch. I remember it being absolutely everywhere in 2016. Obviously it's nowhere now so yeah its legacy has not been long lasting. Also I think people give way too much weight to the charts and treat it like something way bigger than what it actually is. In today's world where every piece of music is available in one place obviously everyone is going to go off and pick favourites, we're not limited to what we heard on Radio 1 or saw on TOTP last night anymore, of course a 60 year old won't have heard of Sabrina Carpenter who is being streamed by 10-30 year olds! The charts aren't broken, they're doing their best with what they have to work with. Obviously there's kinks in the system but the bare bones of it is fine to me
  9. Grew up on the Andy Williams Christmas album so his songs scream Christmas for me. Also gave votes to British classics Slade, Shaky, Chris Rea and Wham which have always been unavoidable
  10. Thought Sound of Silence was doing much better but hey ho. Hoping for as many 2024 releases to make it as possible anyway

+5 Sailor Song +4 Defying Gravity +3 Last Christmas +2 Apt +1 Rockin Around the Christmas Tree -1 Jingle Bell Rock -2 Do They Know It's Christmas -3 That's So True -4 Merry Christmas -5 All I Want for Christmas Is You
  12. Moby- "Extreme Ways - Bourne's Ultimatum"
  13. If Brenda actually overtakes Mariah I will be very surprised (and delighted!)
  14. Yay can't wait for KSI to be back in January <_<
  15. Red Wine Supernova also certified gold this week, perhaps another late contender if it didn't do much in 2023. Depends on how well Dog Days and Linger are holding up
  16. 360 still in with a shout?

Are there enough people willing to download a song for Christmas number one now (sans ladbaby)? Pogues went absolutely nowhere last year so I really doubt it.

Think "Jump" by Tyla has been missed from the silver certifications
  19. Stargazing on 938,729 according to Music Week. Wonder what that means Beyonce is on!

Doesn't the US do something where only "on demand" streams count e.g in a playlist created by a user or listening as part of an album? Surprised we haven't adopted that but I guess it would make it a lot harder for new hits to break the charts

Now this quote has me thinking, what are the ratings of Radio 1's chart show nowadays? Can't be that low
  22. It hit 16 on the indie charts, and if it wasn't on ACR it would've easily made top 75
  23. And the top 10 artists 1. Taylor Swift 2. Drake 3. Kanye West 4. Billie Eilish 5. The Weeknd 6. Eminem 7. Sabrina Carpenter 8. Rihanna 9. Travis Scott 10. Noah Kahan
  24. Spotify Top 10 songs of 2024 in the UK 1. Stick season 2. Espresso 3. Beautiful things 4. Too sweet 5. Lose control 6. Birds of a feather 7. Good luck babe 8. A bar song 9. Please please please 10. Austin Same as the official end of year just in a different order
  25. Yeah Iris got a very big boost from Deadpool on top of its already strong streaming presence, had it predicted as a top 40 finisher for quite a while. That would make 7 oldies in the top 40, plus 2 more if Mariah and Wham get there which they should
