  1. @King Rollo You've voted for "Tiny Dancer" twice, I assume you want to give it 13 points. Is there another song you want to replace the duplicate with?
  2. He's protesting the BBC's involvement
  3. Not really. Only remember Tate's was used for about 30 seconds in a club scene, Ed's was used in the credits and Don Toliver's was used in a montage. Don't think there will be that big of a boost for any of the tracks
  4. It's the solo version from 1993. 👍
  5. F1

Out now and just seen it with the parents. As someone who doesn't really follow F1 I was surprisingly a big fan! 8/10, my mother hated it though, saying Pitt's acting was robotic and that she was annoyed by the race commentator "explaining the rules of F1 like I've never seen it before". My dad who is an even bigger F1 fan also loved it and didn't mind the commentator.

  7. Here is the first semi-final. We have 52 songs to choose from: choose your 25 favourites and put them in order: your most favourite gets 25 points and your least favourite gets 1 point. If you don't want to choose exactly 25 songs, that's fine, you can vote for a minimum of 10 songs. The top 25 songs will progress to the final, no wildcards this time. You have until 7pm BST on 2nd July to get your votes in. Here are the 52 songs you can choose from (in order of release date, oldest to newest): Simon & Garfunkel- The Sound Of Silence The Beach Boys- Wouldn't It Be Nice The Beatles- Here Comes The Sun The Rolling Stones- Gimme Shelter Cat Stevens- Wild World Elton John- Tiny Dancer David Bowie- Changes Aerosmith- Dream On Stevie Wonder- Isn't She Lovely Fleetwood Mac- The Chain Meat Loaf- Paradise By The Dashboard Light Blondie- One Way Or Another Pink Floyd- Comfortably Numb Dolly Parton- 9 To 5 Bryan Adams- Summer Of '69 Pixies- Where Is My Mind Tina Turner- Proud Mary Oasis- Half The World Away Oasis- Champagne Supernova Oasis- The Masterplan 3 Doors Down- Kryptonite Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth- Defying Gravity Arctic Monkeys- Mardy Bum The Cinematic Orchestra ft. 8. Surprised to see Wonderwall back before 505 and Shut Up And Dance out before Who! Was overestimating Shake It To The Max quite a bit...
  9. And we have (very quickly) reached the cut-off point! Four other songs got 51 points but through tie-breaker rules they are able to progress as four of the 100 normal semi-finalists. 172 of the 437 eligible tracks (436 without "Sabotage") did not get points in this round! We have four wildcards from the following voters: 30 points: Weiss- Feel My Needs @danG 32 points: Bicep- Glue @dandy* 42 points: Imagine Dragons- Whatever It Takes @Mangø 49 points: The Cinematic Orchestra ft. Patrick Watson- To Build A Home @Herbs This means we have 104 semi-finalists. There will be two semi-finals, with 52 songs in each. The first will start tomorrow! Thanks to everyone who took part in Round 1.
  10. 51 points Redbone- Come And Get Your Love (UK chart peak: did not chart, platinum 30/07/2021) Kodaline- All I Want (UK chart peak: 67, 2x platinum 06/06/2025) Coldplay- Everglow (UK chart peak: 51, platinum 13/11/2020) "Come And Get Your Love" was first released in 1973 and reached number 6 in the US, in the UK Redbone's only hit was number 2 "The Witch Queen Of New Orleans" from 1971. Its current popularity is thanks to its use as one of Peter Quill/Star Lord's favourite songs in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. "All I Want" is the biggest hit for Irish alt-rock group Kodaline. Until last Friday Coldplay had 2 eligible tracks but "Sparks" got a reset and became a top 40 hit, leaving this song from 2015's A Head Full Of Dreams as their only eligible song. The track features uncredited vocals from Chris Martin's ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow despite them having separated over a year and a half prior to the song's release.
  11. Biggest song to not get points in this rate: J. Cole- Wet Dreamz (UK chart peak: did not chart, 2x platinum 24/11/2023) Based on certification dates, this is the biggest song to get no points in the rate. It is from Cole's 2014 Forest Hills Drive and is not very PG...
  12. 50 points Billie Eilish- You Should See Me In A Crown (UK chart peak: 60, platinum 05/08/2022) Billie is now left with just one song. As mentioned in the section on "Ocean Eyes" this track is on her 2019 debut album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? and was inspired by a quote from Sherlock. The 3-track rule prevented it from becoming a top 40 hit.
  13. Group with the most platinum non-top-40 singles: Oasis (8) Without a doubt the biggest band of the mid-90s in the UK, all 8 of their platinum non-top-40s come from 1994-1995, with all of them achieving points in this rate. Wonder how many more they will add in the future given they will get a big tour boost in a couple of weeks. Sun-shee-ine.
  14. 49 points Eric Carmen- Hungry Eyes (UK chart peak: 82, 2x platinum 15/11/2024) Arctic Monkeys- 505 (UK chart peak: 73, 3x platinum 04/10/2024) "Hungry Eyes" from Dirty Dancing has now outperformed "(I've Had) The Time Of My Life" from the same movie in the digital age, however "Hungry Eyes" was never released officially in the UK and only charted thanks to import copies. In what may come as a shock "505" just falls short of the semi-finals. It is the final track on their 2nd album Favourite Worst Nightmare, charting at 74 on release week. It would become a huge viral hit in the 2020s, peaking one place higher while on ACR in 2022, it surely would have been a top 40 hit during this time. Ever since it has been a consistent streamer, making 2022 and 2023's year end lists.
  15. Artists who don't have any top 40 hits with the most platinum singles: Tame Impala and The Neighbourhood (3) Both are indie rock acts who have one triple-platinum song and two platinum songs each despite never hitting the top 40, though The Neighbourhood would've likely achieved one with their biggest-seller had it got a reset.
  16. 48 points Kaleo- Way Down We Go (UK chart peak: 96, 2x platinum 21/03/2025) Andra Day- Rise Up (UK chart peak: 61, platinum 23/04/2021) Bruno Mars- Versace On The Floor (UK chart peak: 59, platinum 26/01/2024) Björk may be the most famous and successful Icelandic act but "Way Down We Go" is the most successful single from the country, it would later be included on the FIFA 16 soundtrack. Andra Day's "Rise Up" was nominated for both a Grammy for Best R&B Performance and an Emmy for her performance on The View: in 2020 it became an anthem for BLM protestors. "Versace On The Floor" comes from Bruno's 2016 album 24K Magic, a remix by David Guetta was pushed as a single alongside the original.
  17. The original "Rein Me In" overtaking the duet! 😮
  18. Album with the most eligible songs: Moana: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack by various artists (6) The soundtrack to the 2016 Disney film peaked at number 7 on the albums chart and was the 12th biggest album of 2017 here. It includes 6 songs which missed the top 40 and went platinum: 2 of them are versions of "How Far I'll Go". Only two of the tracks got votes.
  19. 47 points Led Zeppelin- Immigrant Song (UK chart peak: did not chart, platinum 22/07/2022) Childish Gambino- Redbone (UK chart peak: 51, 3x platinum 31/01/2025) Inspired by Norse mythology, "Immigrant Song" is taken from Led Zep's 3rd album. It would later be used in 2003's School Of Rock after its star Jack Black (a big fan of the band) performed the song for the band, convincing the surviving members to allow the song's inclusion in the film. It was also used heavily in 2017's Thor: Ragnarok. The acclaimed "Redbone" is Childish Gambino's biggest selling single in the UK and is included on the 2016 album Awaken, My Love! It features in the opening credits of 2017's Get Out.
  20. Artist with the most eligible songs to not receive any points: XXXTentacion (6) The controversial Jahseh Onfroy was killed aged 20 in 2018 and has since gathered a cult following, with some considering him one of the defining artists of the 2010s. However given his criminal history and the views he displayed during his lifetime it is understandable why people would not want to engage with his music. None of his 6 eligible tracks got votes.
  21. 46 points Eagles- Take It Easy (UK chart peak: did not chart, platinum 02/12/2022) Kings Of Leon- Waste A Moment (UK chart peak: 45, platinum 17/01/2025) Harry Styles- Fine Line (UK chart peak: did not chart, platinum 11/04/2025) "Take It Easy" is the 1972 debut single by Eagles, only the quadruple-platinum "Hotel California" has outperformed it in sales in the UK. "Waste A Moment" is from Kings Of Leon's 2016 album Walls, it was one of two tracks from the band eligible for the rate. "Closer" from Only By The Night was the other, it got no points. Joseph will be disappointed to learn that Harry has lost his final eligible track: it is the title track from his 2019 album.
  22. Artist with the most platinum non-top-40 songs: Drake (12) It shouldn't really come as a surprise to see that Mr. Graham has the most eligible songs: the guy has been a massive streamer throughout the entire streaming era and has maintained a huge fanbase for over 15 years. If the 3-track rule existed at the time Views and More Life were released he would have extended this lead. If you want to get technical he has 13 as it was his remix of "Girls Need Love" that helped the song chart in the UK.
  23. 45 points Capital Cities- Safe And Sound (UK chart peak: 42, platinum 21/03/2025) The Black Keys- Lonely Boy (UK chart peak: 80, platinum 12/05/2023) The Lumineers- Ophelia (UK chart peak: 52, 2x platinum 02/08/2024) Taylor Swift- You Belong With Me (Taylor's Version) (UK chart peak: 52, platinum 25/04/2025) Indie pop duo Capital Cities reached number 8 in America with "Safe And Sound", it just missed the top 40 in the UK. "Lonely Boy" is the most successful single by The Black Keys in the UK, taken from their 2011 album El Camino. It was featured on the soundtrack to the first Forza Horizon game and was nominated for Record Of The Year at the 2013 Grammys. "Ophelia" is the 2nd biggest hit for the Lumineers, featuring on their 2016 number 1 album Cleopatra. It charted for the first time after TikTok virality in 2024. The original version of "You Belong With Me" reached number 30 in the UK but most people preferred to stream the 2021 re-recording more while she did not own her masters. We are on the final stretch now, so I will also be posting some extra trivia about the rate and the eligible tracks alongside the results to make the time go by a little slower.😁
  24. I was very conscious of not making this part of the rate drag on for too long but I feel I've gone a little too fast! I'll definitely slow it down for the results of the future rounds.
  25. 44 points Disturbed- Down With The Sickness (UK chart peak: did not chart, platinum 12/01/2024) "OH-WA-A-A-AH!" Serial ACR-dodgers Disturbed had a massive hit with their cover of "The Sound Of Silence" (the original is still to come in this rate) but their biggest original song is this track from their 2000 debut album The Sickness. The song's bridge with lyrics from the perspective of a boy threatening his abusive mother was cut from the music video and radio edit.
