I've seen a few UK/Irish locals who hate Eurovision and/or haven't watched it since the 1970s taking this random stance: "Ireland should send John Rotten. I'd definitely watch it and he's far more interesting than that Sam Ryder". He has brought huge media and public interest for Eurosong if nothing else. The CONNOLLY song was uploaded as a demo so it could get a revamp. Wild Youth have wasted their chance of Q but their fanbase might get them to Eurovision. Brooke upgraded her performance and some of these are more accessible songs so a bit of oomph and making friends with their semi-final countries could them to the final.

Bit early but please keep your eyes peeled and ready for any songs that could be the 2023 Eurovision entry! SPACE MAN was Hottest Record of the Week (albeit not until February 22nd) before it was made official on March 10th and the BBC/TAP want to repeat the heavy rotation this year :cheer:

The algorithm likes shorter clips as it circulates ones where people have watched 100% of it so if it's one with lots of lyrics (e.g. Escapism) the person can mime the words of the snippet they like and get their point across in less time. The normal version of a song is often more popular than any variation on streaming platforms.

My big question about Wild Youth is they are competent so why have they gone via Sweden? There are so many good songwriters in Ireland and the UK but they've made a generic stereotype of an ESC song. Someone described it as an X Factor's winner single from 2009 which is apt. The rap/RnB one is interesting I'd like to see how a song like that gets on at Eurovision - Daz Sampson tried loool.

My favourite LC song is "Before you go". "Pointless" is fine but every time he says POINTLESS it sounds exagerrated and it takes me out the song but I guess that is a me problem. The gap on Wednesday will be telling as RAYE is not much sign of slowing down and I'm not sure whether LC fans are streaming the song on repeat or only want a signed copy for the merch.

It's not a ballad the chorus sounds like another attempt to have a viral TikTok song which is the norm these days. <_<

It sounds like 5SOS or Coldplay more than him. The 1 song that fans want on the album is Figure It Out which was cut from the first album but the opening line is "Broken By Desire to be Heavenly Sent". He played it at his shows years ago but he also played Lasting Lover too before he gave it to James Arthur/Sigala. :arrr: It would be a huge hit if he did release it.

Yes but previously he was selling them at £1.99 with £1.99 for postage. Now it is 99p and FREE postage and that ain't cheap for companies either.

EuphoriaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. Some younger fans think the studio version is overrated but the live performance is one of the greatest in Eurovision history. It's so simple but it's a mesmorising experience and I love it to this day. She proved you don't need all the back-up dancers and elaborate staging when the song is a masterpiece and she FEELS EVERY SECOND of it. The smile on her face when the fans started clapping is the best. While I hate the song the live performance of SloMo makes it infinitely better.

I'm happy for the man but "WHO IS SAM RYDER?" and "HE ONLY KNOWS HOW TO SING THAT SPACE MAN SONG" remain common tehehehehe :rolleyes:

By the way Ratings UK reported AR SAM entertained 5.53 million people on NYE (38.4%) which increased to 6.71 (50.9%) after the fireworks. Jools entertained 2.64 million. To compare with 2021 Olly Alexander was ~4 million iirc.

A few artists had their own shows singing their own music over Christmas and didn't get a lot of gain album sales-wise. Sam sang lots of enthuasistic karaoke, wanted the audience to have a good time and wasn't faking his enjoyment. His goal was to entertain people and that is what he did. The songs that he performed did get sales and streams boost but most people won't know he has got an album :unsure: It's not surprising when a lot of people hadn't heard his Eurovision song until 9:57pm on 14/05/2022 :rolleyes:
