I really hope Ladbaby aren’t Christmas no1 again. It’s getting too repetitive. Yes the songs are for a good cause but they are dreadful. An original Christmas song would be great this year instead!!

Yes it’s been number 1 but it’s dropped very quickly compared to disco and golden. It’s well behind in comparison to disco at the same stage. It will be a tough act to recover and turn the album fortunes around. PP did well there is no doubting that but it’s almost been forgotten now by the general public at least!

It’s not ludicrous. Tension had 1 week in T40 and that was only because BMG released the physical release in the first week. It’s not really done any better than say something or magic. Tension is not a credible Kylie song and not a reflection of far better content on the album.

Well looks like the album will be out of the T40 by next week. Very poor outcome given how low sales are at current time and it will be difficult to restore interest in the album without any promotion. I don’t think tension was a good choice as 2nd single. It’s not connected with the general public although fans seem to love it (I hate it and think it’s the worst thing she’s released in a long time).

Not keen on the album cover but excited about the new album.

I’d prefer a tour. She didn’t tour with disco. It’s too early for a new album.

The Tories have no credible policies to address the issues this country is currently facing and they are completely out of touch with the general public. Let’s hope their incompetence reveals in a thrashing at the next election.

I hope you’re right about tension selling more but personally I can’t see it. Week 3 and it’s already out of the T20 and will barely reach 60k by the end of this week. I’m sure BMG will push 2-3 more singles but they’re unlikely to have any massive impact as Kylie isn’t really a singles artist anymore (Padam was the exception of course). As I said before, the album will continue to sell but in low amounts unless there is any promotion like the audience show which will give it a temporary boost. Long term, its highly unlikely to reach the sales of disco or golden even with a reissue due to a reflection of the declining market.

Yes, £15.99 for deluxe is a lot. I’ve just bought Joel Corey’s deluxe and that was only £10.99. It’s obviously connected well with the fan base but not the wider public yet.

Tension was never ever going to be as successful as fever. Sadly, those days are gone. I think the best we can expect is it stays in the charts till the end of the year and it might sell 120-130k in total but depends on promotion etc.

I think it’s a bit over the top to say people were having meltdowns. I guess some fans are starting to realise this era won’t be as big as we all hoped following the success of Padam. Tension is very unlikely to sell anywhere near the last two albums. It did well in the first week but that was due to big pre-orders and fans buying multiple copies. It’s dropped off massively this week (a much bigger drop in %) than compared to both disco & golden. It’s also quite a bit down compared to disco at the same stage. If you look at the trends of her last two albums, both albums sold the bulk of their total output in the first 6-8 weeks with trickle sales afterwards. Of course it will continue to sell but it’s unlikely to be in high amounts unless there is major promotion. The reality is the album market has shrank further since disco and most artists aren’t selling very well. Look at Ed Sheeran and Lewis Capaldi who are both more contemporary so why would Kylie suddenly buck this trend when she appeals to more of a niche market?

This is ok but doesn’t excite me loads and hearing a Christmas song in early October just feels weird.

I think the album will hang around longer than 5 weeks in the charts but it will need promotion of some kind. There are a few points I want to make. Firstly, album sales are low in general so it won’t need to sell high amounts to stay in the charts anyway. Secondly, there is promo events coming up like the audience with Kylie which will help boost sales. However, I went into HMV Liverpool last weekend to buy the deluxe album and they had no copies on the shelves. I had to ask staff if they had a copy and they realised they hadn’t replaced the sold out stock with other copies. Also, I am surprised there was no label on the front of the album stating it includes the T10 hit Padam and T20 hit tension. I’m convinced now that tension won’t sell anywhere near the last two albums sadly.

Sexercise and nudity were both awful. I would also add les sex and heartbeat rock to your list.

Kiss me once as an album isn’t great but disco is brilliant. I really don’t understand your intense dislike for it.

Given overall album sales are low this week, if tension drops outside the T10 this week it will be a poor result for 2nd week sales. It’s already looking like it will only sell about 6-7k this week which is a massive drop even taking into account the current market trends when you compare to success of her last couple of albums. BMG need to come up with a plan to boost sales; either some promotion or a new variant on the release.

I am still surprised tension is likely to have dropped outside the T5 after 1 week. That is disappointing when sales are not particularly high. I think in the long run, it is very unlikely to match the sales of the previous two albums and may struggle to even reach 100k in total. Disco was released during lockdown when we didn’t have a cost of living crisis and the market has shrank further since then.
