Any idea on sales numbers for the Girl vinyl?

Bjork - Fossora
I’m absolutely obsessed by this record. I don’t quite understand when people say it’s her least melodic album yet. I can hear one in at least half the album, with the other half remaining brilliant and beautifully experimental. The genius Atopos is easily her most commercial song since Earth Intruders. I really really didn’t like Utopia. It’s the fly in the ointment In her catalogue. The sounds and the imagery are almost frightening and I feel ‘off’ when I listen to it (I do suffer pretty extreme depression and anxiety quite often though, so I think it could be why I feel so uneasy when I listen to Utopia.) A real shame when Vulnicura is one of her best. Anyway, I couldn’t be happier with Fossora.I don’t want her to do anything like Debut or Post again. We have those and it would be really strange if Bjork suddenly became a popstar again. I’m not ready to list the songs in order yet, but Atopos, Fossora, Ancestress, and Ovule keep being replayed over and over. I do like every single song though, apart from Allow which just brings back my Utopia PTSD. Very happy with Bjork right now. The videos have been cool. I’m waiting for more and hopefully remixes!

Let's Get To It ● album discussion
Let’s Get To It is such a fantastic club album which is especially fascinating because it’s a made by a girl who just three years previous was singing about being Lucky Lucky Lucky in a bath. She’d absorbed one of the most interesting moments in club culture, London in the early 90s, and insisted in finally being given the chance to get in a room with Mike Stock and make an album she would want to listen to. I suppose it’s because she perceives the album wasn’t a huge hit, but it’s a shame it hasn’t had more love. It was the first record where she really settled down with one other person for three months, going into the same studio day in day out, the longest time by far that she’d continuously spent writing and recording an album up to that moment (weirdly ROL, and maybe even Kylie and Enjoy Yourself were made over longer periods because there were greater spaces between recording, but when you condense time she in the studio LGTI had much more time spent on it by Kylie.) Moreover, a lot of people miss that she very likely crowrote No World Without You about Michael, and Mike Stock wrote Word Is Out about the situation leading to their spilt. She was going through intense heartbreak still which she hid so well from the public too, which I’m sure had a huge impact on how she decided to present herself for that album as well. As much as I find Kylie branching out to the US for Rhythm Of Love a great step forward, I think LGTI is far more interesting and the results all the more intriguing, even if Mike Stock wasn’t as lucky that time in writing four absolutely perfect singles as with ROL.

Impossible Princess at 25 ● survivor round 7
Yes, this all seems much more civilised. Really enjoying it. And of course saying I'm appalled was in jest, I just adore that track. For me, I voted to throw out SKOB. That would have been the first to go if it was up to me. I still feel cross with it for being the first single and ruining the whole campaign. Also, James putting the lyrics from a song called Into Myself (which she did with Olive) and another song just makes no sense to me. As poetry it's great. As a pop song no one could tell what the hell she was singing about.

Girl ● album discussion
It’s Tom Parker again on this project. Others were offered but for the work involved and no payment offered, it really isn’t possible anymore. Those guys have handled pretty much every part of her catalogue in the past and it’s time to let someone else have a go now. Life has got very busy for everyone since 2010! Kylie’s Impossible Princess is my favourite album and important to me for many reasons, including getting to kinda work with her which was crazy, and Dannii’s Girl coming out at the same time was exciting. It’s the time I also first got to know Dannii too, before working with her for a long time. There’s actually a lot to be said about that record which I hope they cover in the liner notes, including how the direction of the album changed near the end of recording, hence you have Everybody Changes, on the same album as Moving Up. They didn’t have time to record further and make it entirely full of songs like that and Am I Dreaming, so it is a rather odd mix of very cool dance tracks and super pop. Somehow it works very well though! Wishing them all the best and I hope the final product is fantastic because it’s a special album and important to many. I can’t wait to see what they do. I’ll be grabbing a copy for sure.

Girl is coming out on Cherry Red as a box set. They're having a nightmare getting pictures, the initial designer quit already. They'll probably just scan and rip off the excellent reissues which came out in 2010. Obviously they'll be a vinyl and a DVD with the videos and probably Dannii At The BBC stuff. Plus a booklet, again if they can find any images. I just don't get what unreleased stuff they can find because everything put out between 2007-2010 was rammed full of everything in the vaults. Good luck to them because it's going to be a a tough job!

To have IP chart at number 5 in the UK is like some parallel universe. My favourite album of all time finally vindicated.
