Is this the line-up at One Big weekend that year then :P I agree, good music is good music - the genre doesn't matter. But there maybe good pop acts that aren't getting much of a look in at the moment - the current trend is away from pop. The definition is arbitrary I suppose - I didn't think James Blunt was pop, but didn't he win best pop award at the Brits? He was up for it anyway. Thanks for replies :D FM

Where was the Pop at One Big Weekend? Soooo many bands - which was good IMO, but I thought Radio One was a station that supported Pop music. Only the Sugarbabes I think, Pink - ummmmmmm???. No male solo acts at all as far as I remember :( . I wondered what people thought of this. FM

It's supposedly down to time and expense involved. OK - maybe it can take time re-shuffling whole kits for bands - but it's worth it surely. Will offered to sing just with a piano - but obviously even that wasn't acceptable. People have bought tickets for this before the miming thing was announced, and before acts pulled out. They should ask for their money back!

I see in the Metro this evening that Will Young is the latest to pull out of the T4 on the beach gig. Apparently ALL the artists have been asked to mime :o Can you imagine - Feeder, The Zutons - MIMING - what a cheap stunt. WHY? Is it just me who thinks it a total farce? :(
  5. I watched that - cheap, tacky TV journorubbish. The only slightly convincing bit was the Angels songwriting thing.
  6. I'm still interested in Gareth too :D I think it's awful that 19 don't even allow him to leave a message for fans on his website - what harm would that do :???: The GBP are interested in him, he was part of a huge show - even if it was ages ago now. I can understand him not giving interviews at the moment though, - could be embarassing for him and all concerned with his career to date.
  7. I think he will need to do far more than just dump LW in order to be bigger than Will. He needs an individual musical style and a unique sounding voice, oh and bucketloads of talent and charisma. Maybe he has all these things and I've just not noticed yet <_< Seems a nice bloke though - I'm just narked with the OTT hype
  8. I think Will (or rather BMG) made a mistake putting out two slow songs one after the other. I love to see Will just stand and sing - but they are not the sort of songs for people who want a bit more action! I think the fans are more bored than Will. Fans know what he is capable of, so it's frustrating when his TV performances don't reflect that. As for the GBP - they probably just see Will performing a lovely song in his own lovely way. I hope there will be a fourth single, and I hope it's either KO or TAI - or possibly AIW.
  9. I can't see the logic in making a really great video and then not putting it on the CD? I love the song a lot, but I wouldn't buy the single - except - the single edit is different to the album, and I actually prefer it - and the remix sample sounds really good :D I think it will make top 10 - and I think the album will go top 10 again too! Sue xx
  10. I'm a Will fan :D I think it's 19 that book people onto programmes etc, Simon Fuller may put in a word, but he has to retain his own credibility. If Will does go to America, I'm sure there will be some string pulling going on by Simon Fuller - as is usual when an artist is being launched in a country that knows nothing about them. Shows seek to book people who they feel will boost viewer ratings. Generally the 'better' and more popular/respectable the show, generally the better the guests on the show will be. Shayne is flavour of the month - and has his first album out, and Will is a successful act - also with a current album - so both are no doubt in demand. Requests probably go both ways. To appear then 1/ The programme/magazine has to want the artist 2/ The artist has to want to go on the programme - usually to promote the most recent offering. 3/ Time has to be available - for all parties Direct advertising promo costs the artist a lot of money. I dread to think how much Shayne must have forked out for all the ads and promo he's been getting - and I wonder if he realises??!! The more money an album makes from sales the more can be afforded for continuing advertising. Darius fans complained that his album didn't get enough advertising, and I think GG fans complained too. It's not a personal vendetta of record companies against certain artists - it's a matter of cold economics. Hense, James Blunt album - even though it had already sold huge amounts, was continually being advertised around Christmas time. I believe record companies can do some bargaining with retailers around reducing prices of CDs etc. That's had a huge impact on the album charts recently. I would think GG would be a sought after guest. His story is kind of interesting, but he hasn't got an album out at the moment, so there's little point. Well - this is my understanding on the promo thing - others may know different ;) Sue xx

Wow! - that's the best I've ever, ever heard him. He just gets better and better - what an amazing voice and what an original singer :D

I'm surprised Will's Who Am I isn't in that list - he's A listed on radio 2. Radio 1 seem to be ignoring him this time though
  13. Hello everyone. Loved Will on Davina :D It's good here, took a while to mourn CC. I miss the Darius forum ;) :P FM

Smacks of desperation :o Well - someone must be worried. It does Shayne no good - too much hype :puke2:
  15. Your Game - brilliant! FM
  16. Sorry - was that an April fools comment -I'm getting confused today :P So...........which record company did Darius choose then, when they were all desperate to sign him after he 'decided not to continue' with Mercury. Sheesh  FM
  17. So, it's official - he's been dropped by BMG. (I've just been on his boards). I've never been a huge fan, but I'm always kept an interest. I think he and his fans have been treated very badly. 19 are still his management company and say he will still be releasing this year. I wait to be convinced! What a cess pit of a record company BMG is :puke2: One poor lot of album sales and you're out on your ear  FM
