Album Clash: Joe McElderry or Will Young?
Although I of course, agree, when I started this thread, I really thought Joe would sell in bucketloads, and much more than Will. Joe was very popular from the recent PSTOS, with millions of votes, and he impressed the public with his very nice singing voice and persona. The tracklisting is predictable but full of tested favourites. I wasn't thinking of 'deserving' but of sales, which sadly don't always follow the 'deserving' albums, that's the way of the world :D I was concerned about Will's return, given his previous original release, especially the singles, showed a significant decline in sales. However, as it turns out, both Jealousy and Echoes are doing well. I'm happy for both of them. I just think that Joe may have blown his chances of ever being seen as a creative artist, as this release may have bought him sales, but lost him credibility.

Jealousy back up to no. 8 :D

Will sang Hearts on Fire on Jonathan Ross, and it's a great song. It made the album go back up into the top 10 (6now I think?) on the itunes chart. Great that people have sought it out :)

I'm surprised James Morrison's new song isn't higher, it's getting great radio play

Well, he's not going to sing jealousy, so I doubt it will impact on the single. He's going to sing an album track, Hearts on Fire, which I love, but took a few listens. I'm surprised they didn't go with Silent Valentine, which is much more instant. Maybe they want to keep that a secret for the moment though.

I didn't either. Will more or less accepted it too, saying he was more of an album seller, and his record company single release strategy showed little faith in his ability to sell singles as well. So pleased for him that he has done so well with Jealousy. He deserves all the success he gets.

Haven't heard the duet yet, but will download it. Great to see Will back up to no. 12 with Jealousy, and also Leave Right Now making a new appearance at 123. I like the 59p singles offer on itunes.

YTD Airplay + Airplay Mids
I don't think Collide is very radio friendly. It takes forever to get going, and has no melodic charm to it whatsoever. That's why airplay is low. It's nothing to do with her coming from XF, otherwise Olly wouldn't be at number 1! Really amazed and pleased that Will is top 5 in airplay and rising, all without the help of radio 1 and capital. I hope it continues :)

Will is no. 12 now :) I guess his rise from 18 last time I looked is due to the better airplay, he's not done any further promotion.

Will Young - Echoes
Haven't you got a copy yet?

Will Young - Echoes
Thanks, excellent. LIG was released much nearer to Christmas, so I think Echoes is going to sell better in the long run, which is great!

The **Irish** iTunes Chart 2010-2014
Looks like Leona is going to get no. 1 in Ireland then. Unless her d/ls are very front loaded. Has she done some promo over there?

The Almost Saturday Top 75 Singles by Dave Taylor
Last time I looked at popularity bars, which was this morning, the tracks above Will are all quite close together. The album version downloads are just pushing it up. It's doing well on Amazon at no. 6, so maybe other d/l sites are better than itunes for him. I hope he will remain top 10 by Sunday, but I doubt it, his promo has ground to a halt for a while.

Midweeks
I hope he gets the 34,000+ needed to make the 100,000! Thanks for letting us know. :)

Will Young - Echoes
Maybe because it's bank holiday today? How is Echoes holding up now that RHCP album is out? Is Echoes now no 2 on itunes albums?

Jealousy Airplay
How is Jealousy holding up on itunes? I can't view my itunes at the moment. I notice on amazon downloads it's risen to no. 7? Amazon seems a law to itself!

Thankyou. Would Will still be no 3 if his different versions were combined?

iTunes Chart: August (III)
People are downloading Jealousy from the album, as that has increased. Not surprised as it's a better version. I do hope Will will stay top 10 - or dare I hope, top 5 by next Sunday.

Wretch 32 - Black & White - Where will it chart?
Will looks to be winning that battle, he's no 1 on itunes, Wretch 32 is no. 10

Yes, Olly is way ahead at no. 1, but it wasn't a level playing field. However, I'm certainly NOT bitter, Will is still around and doing brilliantly after 10 years, having just released his best album to date, what's to be bitter about?! Olly is doing fantastically well, and good for him! If he is able to make it last like Will has, I will give him oodles of respect too :)

In one way I'm amazed that Jealousy is doing so well, given no airplay at all on radio one or capital. In another way I'm not surprised, there's been a huge thumbs up to the track from music reviewers and bloggers and on the internet generally. The album version of Jealousy is better than the radio edit, longer and meatier. Cherry picking the track may help the single as from tomorrow. I hope not though really, as no doubt Will and his record company would prefer people to download the whole album! Will seems particularly unconcerned about Jealousy charting, the most popular remix hasn't been offered for download, and the song is released just one day before the album. It's not hard to see the strategy is for pushing album sales. However, if the music is good, often tracks will break through in spite of limited exposure, as Maroon 5 has showed us this week. let Olly have another forgettable no.1, twittering away to his fans to download etc  . We shall see if he is still making the charts in 10 years time, when numerous new X factor alumni will have had time usurp! :)
