Why is Will only predicted top 20 at no. 21, and Olly no. 1 when he's 37?
  2. Yes it very much is more like Jealousy, which is probably why the free track wasn't on the album :)

I think echoes will do better. Thanks for the information

Thanks for this. Wow, that's great for Echoes in Ireland, airplay hasn't been great there, and as far as I remember, LIG didn't get that high.
  5. This is what I think too. I don't know why people think Will would be so low in the album chart. I think they are in for a surprise. I'm pretty sure it will go number one in week one, and then it will stick around the top 10 for months, it's really the most beautiful and perfect pop album, and its' not just fans saying that. The reviews have been his best yet by a long way.
  6. Joe Mc Eldery and Will Young both release albums next week. Predict who will win that battle! Joe has had recent exposure on Pop star to opera star, and on the back of that has produced an album of covers, Will is 10 years in the business, and this is his fifth album of original mucis, which has had great reviews. Obviously I would love Will to win, but the charts and the public, are both strange creatures!

Thanks, was that in pre release, or in music chart?

I can't remember past Amazon pre order charts. What were they like for FC and LIG, does anyone else remember? Great to see him riding high on the pre-order charts though. It has to be a good sign

I think he might get top 5, here's hoping! Olly Murs will be no.1, with radio one A list and Capital radio giving full support  . Anyway, go Maroon 5, and Emeli!! Can't stand the Wretch 32 track.

Maroon 5 may not be high on playlist charts, but I've just you tubed the song and it's had over 9million views :o

I really hope Maroon 5 get the number one. Radio one need to learn their adds to playlist are not always crucial for getting an artist to number one. Looking on the airplay chart, Maroon 5 were only at no. 26! It's also a good song

Thanks Sunday, looking good, especially as I would think Will's fans are more likely to buy a CD from a shop than are the RHCPs fans :)

Thanks for this link, I see Will has managed to achieve no. 16 with no airplay from radio one or capital, - fantastic, and another 2 weeks until release :cheer: Anyway, focusing on this debate, Collide is seriously awful and Leona needs to not be a puppet for Cowell, ('go there and record this song and don't worry about where it came from'), she needs to take control or she will fade away. I only heard Pixie's song once, maybe it needs more listens, because it didn't make an impact. Not heard the Saturdays, so can't really comment.

I went on the Asda site, and Will is no. 2 on their pre-order chart, no. 1 really, as only behind the £75 CD package Nirvana are putting out. I'm not sure if Asda sales count towards the chart though?
  15. I posted this in the general pop forum, hope that's ok. I have it on repeat, best thing ever produced by Will in an upbeat tempo by far I can't stop listening to is

I voted no. 1 just for the hell of it. If the single did have a chance, it is now scuppered by releasing it a day before the album goes on sale?? Has that ever happened before? I really like the song, but I suspect there will be better songs on the album. I usually prefer Will's album tracks to the singles he releases. In reality he may not chart with this single at all, but I'm sure the album will do well. Any station that playlists Swagger Jagger and not a quality track from an established artist like Will, may be run by humans, but not by humans with any taste
  17. Hi all, the little clip of jealousy sounds great :yahoo: Looking forward to this new album and all that goes with it

There seems to be a trend for established acts to flop, and huge names too. Maybe it's the deluge of new acts emerging all the time displacing the old. It's always gone on, but in recent years it seems there's a lot more hyping of new acts at the expense of returning older acts, and getting radio one airplay for established acts, apart from a select few, seems extremely difficult. I'm sure this is what contributes to all the flops, half the acts mentioned here I had no idea had released in 2010  Another example of the 'use once and throw away' culture we live in. It must be great for the new acts to get their moment, but after that then they join all the other acts in the pressure of trying to maintain a career against yet another crop of newbies.
  19. Following from the underperforming artists of 2010 thread, who do you think will be the successes and flops of 2011? I've not been in the upcoming releases thread, so I have a small list of artists I know of: Leona Lewis (hmm, not sure, could go either way for Leona) Amy Whinehouse, (can't wait, and hoping for another spectacular album) Adele (looking forward to this, and I think it will be massive) Will Young (can't wait to hear his new sound. I'd expect reasonable sales again considering his good sized loyal fanbase) Matt Cardle (I think he will do very well with his first album, around a million sales in the first month) Joe McElderry (Unfortunately I doubt he will do well)

I totally agree with you. Women over 40 often have the best taste in music :) . What I was alluding to is that the male record buyers assume that they will like TT and MB and not look further. I don't hate TT or MB, but I'd far rather be given Rumer or The Script, or The Hurts for Christmas. I agree about Adele. I was quite annoyed when her moment of glory with her first album was totally overshadowed by Duffy's Rockferry. I think Adele will be the artist with longevity though, her voice is in a different league in my opinion.

    Duffy :o (Biggest shock, what happened there! Is it the end for her?) KT Tunstall James Blunt Kylie Adam Lambert (thought he'd do better in the UK) Many, many more. Take That and blooming Michael Buble seem to have a monopoly on album sales at Christmas. People see Take That/Buble and think to themselves, that'll do nicely for {gran, sister, neice, mum, aunty, .... insert other}
  22. Are single presales any use at all in predicting chart success these days?

Really shocked Robbie and Gary haven't shot to no. 1 with the massive exposure on radio and TV the song has had!

It will probably get to no. 1, but oh dear, it's bad, poor Joe. People won't recognise him, and they need to for his first single release :(
