  1. Gene Shmianna? I take it he liked Euphoria then? I must admire him to actually hear what the lyrics are about. I can just hear small pieces of it. Ensure he keep that rulebook safe. Imagine what will happen if it gets leaked on PirateBay - at least the very end of the Music Business as we know it.
  2. As I'm a complete noob at this, can someone please explain what this mean: http://kworb.net/itunes/laleh.html http://kworb.net/itunes/loreen.html The http://kworb.net/itunes/index.html page lists 1000 entries. 1 entry per artist? Position is about number of sold items (aka singel songs) on iTunes relative to other artists per country? Laleh is at position 285 in the world??? But she is just released in Sweden and Norway and currently doesn't want otherwise. How can this be? I guess: Place 1 in San Marino counts better than number 2 in UK? How much value is Loreens place 1 in Sweden on iTunes with respect on Spotify (and perhaps soon Dimest) if compared to the UK place 378. (Shit! Loreen is running the list as I'm writing this). What about bitrate issues in iTunes (CD buy or lossless quality).
  3. Loreen "Euphoria" acoustic live 2012-03-12 I throw this video of an acoustic charity concert in as well (for those that haven't seen it). It's a bit unclear who made the video and what the story behind is. I guess the 5 days in silence is completely gone now.
  4. They are all over her and she really enjoy the support from the Kids.
  5. Closeup videos of Loreen in Västerås Kids from Loreens hometown Västerås is celebrating Loreen 2012-03-17. She thanks by singing and I think there is also a dance-school performing a special act for her. A big day at Sigmatorget Västerås. Note: Everybody is filming so there are zillion versions on youtube of the same event. Autographs, hugs and talk - Loreen Västerås The girl says: I made a video about you on youtube! Loreen: Aha, It's you who made it! Performance by dance-school Dansverkstan
  6. ESCsweden: UK entry reminds us of Roger Pontare's "Som av is" from Melodifestival 1999 Melodifestivalen 1999 - Som av is Pretty close. Pontare finished 5th.
  7. Translation Melodifestivalen program 2012 Dead by April - Mystery Q - Vad är det bästa i din låt? (What is the best in your song?) A - Kontrasterna. Ytterligheterna i metalvärlden och popvärlden, hur de blandas ihop. En blandning mellan det hårda och det poppiga. (The contrasts between the extreme limits of the metal world and pop world. How they get merged into a mixture between the hard and the poppy.) Q - Vad är er styrka som grupp? (What is your strength as a group?) A - Att vi är så förbannat bra. Vi är olika individer som kompletterar varandra väldigt bra. (We are so damn good. We are different individuals who complement each other very well.) Q - Vilken är den mest minnesvärda Melodifestivallåten? (What is the most memorable Melodifestival song?) A - Carola måste det väl vara? Eller vi säger "Dansa i neon" i stället. För att det är vår polare Lena. (It must be Carola, or what? No, we say "Dansa i neon" instead because Lena is our mate.) Videos:

Arwen have some days off from Middle-earth and jump in as Snow White. Beautiful Ivi Adamou does rather average and predictable singing of a pretty good song. It's a very simple clean production without any tricks. I find it boring but if she keep the beautiful Arwen style, she can be dangerous.
  9. Loreen is one of the best participants ever in Swedish Idol (first year). She was just 20 and it is rather painful to look at these clips because she was: 1) The wrong gender. 2) The wrong colour. 3) Didn't have the right looks. They were mean to her, tricked and pushed her to a point where the press started to talk about scandal. It took 8 years but it gives her comeback another dimension.
  10. Pretty good as usual. Whisperingggggggg It is hard to hear the soong. ... And now - will I, get a free vacation in Baku. And if it goes as usual - there will be 0 0 0 0 points. And now - I get, some nasty guy. And if it goes as usual - there will be 0 0 0 0 points.
  11. A good pop song with an interesting text. I feel that the voice of the singer Csaba Walkó is rather weak and a bit fragile. Like it is going to break. He is also pitching a lot. The studio recording is good, but the live performance is a pain in the end. So, it all depends on Csaba Walkó to deliver on stage in Baku.
  12. Beautiful song performed so relaxed that someone may think it's a pause act. Why all this echo on the singing? There is one of these magical Ney-flutes luring in the background. Can you get forward and get us a heartbreaking solo please? In the end she realizes that she maybe need to act somewhat and delivers a pretty good finale.

Thanks Caïn, I hope you're right. Unfortunately, this was my immediate reaction and sad to say, the thought may lurk in the backs of many Europeans, especially where ethnic minorities are prevalent. And whatever this is, it is political. It's just very unclear. Sure, it could very well be that the act is innocent and the ladies just are grabbing their chance of fame and wealth. And perhaps it is that simple in Russia, but the reactions you get on a wider scale could be very different. Where you saw cute and funny, others may see tragedy and horror. Just to compare: The same act but with Scandinavian Sami people would be impossible. You couldn't get more inappropriate, perhaps as a shocking scandal act (possibly ... nae don't think so). Or Navajo Indians representing USA or... Well I said it, I hope you don't take offense. Discussing these things is exactly what to avoid in ESC, I apologise for it. edit: Thanks ♣ Alex Banan ♣ But then as a Belgian you know how complicated this issue really is. Mutual respect is paramount, very much so if there are inequities.

Probably a huge site etiquette and culture violation, but I can't help it: The Russians are robbed of a nice and fun ESC party this year. By who? Frankly, this entry makes me instinctively uneasy as the women are not Russian, but Udmurt people, related to Finns and Hungarians. There are so many tragic unfinished issues buried here with huge political, ethical and social implications. I cannot say I know anything about the Udmurts, but I met some Mari people (their relatives) in Sweden and my family have Ingrian connections (the Ingrians are no more - extinct). For me, the act transforms into a freak-show, like: Look here! These women are the remnants of an ancient people we robbed and killed. They are very poor and must work very hard. We don't even give them electricity. Aren't they cute and funny? Vote for them so they can build their church! I can't believe Mr P is letting the Russian competition running its own free life. After all, he is paying for it all. Kind of using the event to force a subtle political statement in the face of Europe in prime TV time. Like we wanted any more political issues in Baku than there already is. Police repression, Armenian/Assyrian genocide, boycott etc. If I'm wrong and the women really do have an agenda of their own, why disgrace themselves and their culture like this? Like: The Udmurt culture, what a joke! Mother Russia, lets party and come on and dance! The big losers of this choice are of course the Russian entertainment business and the Russian audience, left out of the dance this year.
  15. I think it's good classic song but most important: He is an excellent singer! There are so few good male singers and he is clearly one of the best. Britain may not win with this act but can participate with elegance and grace - salute!
  16. For those that are interested in Molly Sandén and Danny. They appeared tonight (Sunday 2012-03-18) together with Pauline :w00t: and Stephen Simmonds in the music show Så ska det låta (SVT Play svtplay.se/t/102966/sa_ska_det_lata). This is a rather revealing program where the artist must improvise and perform covers from hints given during the show. Sometimes it gets really good, sometimes not so good. I felt the atmosphere a bit tense with a rather beaten up Danny, a reserved Pauline and over-ambitious Molly and Stephen. I hoped to hear more from Pauline. You can also see Danny and Molly celebrate Pauline at her birthday with singing and a cake (look at extra web material).

Found another video. The real live Final performance? Eurovision 2012 Malta: Kurt Calleja - This is the night (Live Final) WINNER. www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBVsAve6hrQ Kurt seems to lose it when he performs live - weak voice and uninspired moves. Is he bored already with the song? Looks like the average local rock band concert. I wish they removed all people from the stage except for the drum chick and created something visual from that. The weak voice is worrying. I really wish all the best for Malta and hope they could go all the way, but this year it looks difficult.
  18. A weird confusing song. This could have been a great act (and parts of it still is), if someone (the producer?) had let go of the big chunks of cheese  thrown into this song. The cheap 70thish Dansband drumbeat is terrible, the part that really destroys it. It also seems to have been added on top of the song somehow and not living in its core as it should. The same effect you get when you add a drumbeat to classical music. A big UUURK!!! :nono: And the musicians seem just to be testing their gear and never start playing. The guitar with that weak 60thish FUZZ sound, is it supposed to be retro? I get a strong urge to kick the guitarist and let the cello and violin play their parts finally. Beautiful Kaliopi saves it though and singing in Macedonian is very forgiving. An acoustic version with piano, cello and violin => smash-hit?

Look at the hot drummer-chick! And she is for real also as you can see in the first video. Definitely part of the final stage act. Right here it starts raining golden stars! Love it! This is a good song.
  20. Wow, Epica in ESC Albanian style :yahoo: . If she can set that tone clean on stage and get the right tone of Simone red on the hairball, it's a douce from me. Pure modern eurometal. Brilliant! :winner: Will the good TV audience see this?

For me, this kind of genre needs to be super elegant produced with a breathtaking stage performance. This takes muscles in time and money for studio-time and choreography. "They were very good at live performances" and "X-Factor" sounds promising and the bouzoukis :friends: provide lots of forgiving. We love bouzoukis in ESC, the more the better. I fear the production isn't going to change and it's all up to Eleftheria Eleftheriou to deliver. Kind of hard for her to go all the way. Top 10.
  22. AzeriBlues! Great performance - a clean classic blues - and really well done. If she can deliver on stage, this is a clear top 5!
  23. Thanks, interesting articles. I guess you had to attend the shows to be able to see these. The artist question and answers could perhaps be of interest for translations? Slightly off topic: Gina misses the attention as Melodifestivalen host and runs away to Hollywood: svt.se/2.173807/andra_sasongen Just the first minutes are relevant.
  24. More pages, absolutely! Gina, SDF would be fun. :cheer:
  25. Great stuff! Loreen: Q - Vad är det bästa i din låt? (What is the best in your song?) L - Syntarna i produktionen - det finns ett ambient sound som triggar igång min lust att sjunga. (The synthesizers in this production - there is an ambient sound that triggers my desire to sing). Q - Vad är din styrka som artist? (What are your strengths as an artist?) L - Att jag inte bara sjunger för att sjunga utan mer hamnar i trans så att det jag sjunger kanaliseras till något djupare. (I'm not just singing to do the singing, but rather end up in a trance where the singing is transformed into something more passionate.) Q - Vilken är den mest minnesvärda Melodifestivallåten? (What is the most memorable Melodifestival song?) L - Caroline af Ugglas "Snälla Snälla". Hennes framträdande var så naket och äkta och låten som hon sjöng kan all relatera till. (Her performance was so naked and true and the song that she sang can all relate to.)
