Dance Chart Number Ones 1990 - 1999
Does anyone know why it's called 9pm? That's pretty early for clubbers?

Had a strange moment watching TOTP last night when the three Zoo dancers were doing Diana. "I'm sure that's the girl from Tight Fit!" I said. True enough, the blonde dancer in that routine, Julie Harris, would become a performer in the "bloke plus two girls" version of Tight Fit the following year with male model Steve and Pete Waterman's future wife Denise. She's still performing today with Tight Fit apparently.

That ATB record was a bit of a milestone for me as it was the first time in years that a song went in at number one that I was completely unaware of. I first heard it on the bus back from T in the Park to Glasgow on the Monday morning after it went to no.1 and it felt weird, like I'd lost a few weeks of time and had never heard the number one. If that makes any sense...T in the Park was quite a crazy weekend... As for the track - a load of horseshit - but not as bad as his superfluous, weak cover of Killer.

Music nostalgia..
1987 - 1992 for me for pop music and 1990 - 1994 for indie. The pre-Britpop era remains my favourite - it got pretty diluted after that.

Easy. I'd abolish the playlist, sack any DJs who are incapable of finding their own music to play and hire those who can. :D :D :D

Kevin Rowland recorded a great cover version of Labelled with Love on his My Beauty album.

Nothing wrong with Flat Beat at all - if anything, it's a real shame that it's forever linked to a pretty lacklustre advert. Almost certainly the best dance no.1 of 1999 I'll bet :)

The Avalanches 'Wildflower'
Looking forward to this. I didn't actually like the album that much, the two singles (nobody counts Electricity!) aside...it was good but a little overwhelming. But their DJ sets were always eclectic affairs. Frankie Sinatra is a lot of fun :D Also reminds me of Wilmot by the Sabres of Paradise along with Cypress Hill.

Yes, Legs and Co replaced by Zoo (who would go on until 1983 apparently) in November 1981. Probably for the best - disco and body popping were all the rage and that was more important than skimpy costumes "giving Dad something to keep him happy". Ay Ay Moosey has great percussion - not the worst Modern Romance song by any means. I was also really pleased to see a conga line on TOTP. Although I hate being in conga lines, I love watching them.

Sent mine in - no Googling, just off the top of my head. At least I was able to have a guess at all of them.

There's the rub. Probably the best late 90s trance song I've heard, but I just can't stand those high-pitched synths that seemed to dominate that time.

Just listened to Out of the Blue for the first time ever - credit where it's due, it's really good. That's until the "euphoric strings" come in. I'd say its a casualty of its era - would have sounded much, much better if it'd been part of the early 90s dance or early 00s electro scene. Going to give 'We Like To Party' a listen next as I've kinda forgotten how it ever went.

I might have to host a "no Googling allowed" quiz then you'll all see how hard it is! Can I ask that Mean Girls be set to a wrong answer though? It's not universally loved on Buzzjack as I've never seen it (as was clear from my answer!) :P

I'm showing my age - went for the crap movie version of an old TV series rather than the TV series of a crap movie way (Buffy)

Trying to work out if the euphoric trance was better or worse than the cheesy Scottish rave scene of a few years earlier.

Beth Orton - Kidsticks
Been listening to 1973 a lot recently and trying to get round to spinning the LP. Didn't know it was produced by half of f*** Buttons, that's a very good thing.
