Family Fortunes: The UltraMichael Edition: The RESULTS
I'm showing my age - went for the crap movie version of an old TV series rather than the TV series of a crap movie way (Buffy)

Dance Chart Number Ones 1990 - 1999
Trying to work out if the euphoric trance was better or worse than the cheesy Scottish rave scene of a few years earlier.

Beth Orton - Kidsticks
Been listening to 1973 a lot recently and trying to get round to spinning the LP. Didn't know it was produced by half of f*** Buttons, that's a very good thing.

Already looking like you could flip this chart upside down and it'd be closer to the truth ;)

Dance Chart Number Ones 1990 - 1999
I despise late 90s euphoric trance but not surprised to hear it topped the Scottish charts. My nation's dance music tastes have always been a bit suspect!

Childhood Toys You Miss
They still sell the kits in toy shops, but I think the teams are mainly standard issue red strips vs blue strips with top teams like Chelsea, Man Utd, Barcelona available at an extortionate price. No replica FA cups and not even sure if they do floodlights now :(

Gorilla shot dead after boy enters pit...
Was saddened to hear about this. A tranquiliser was surely the answer? The director of the zoo was on TV this morning defending their actions by saying that those signing e-petitions "weren't there" - but the TV footage certainly makes it look as if the Gorilla was not being aggressive.

Family Fortunes: The UltraMichael Edition: The RESULTS
Yes, my no Google rule really bites me on the bum when the questions are about things I know nothing about! I'm really quite good at quizzes - honest! Shame my Clueless / Mean Girls answers are going to be split up - they weren't actually the same. I tried to phrase the same sentence in 90s and 00s vernacular. In fact, I spent longer on that than the rest of the questions - which, er, shows.

Which artists could achieve a posthumous chart peak?
Nirvana were nothing like as mainstream as guitar bands are these days. Although Kurt Cobain's death was widely reported in the NME etc, it didn't hit the headlines much. Many people already had the Nirvana albums so there wasn't any need to buy them again and no downloads / streaming back then so if the local record shop sold out then that was it. And that's one of the key differences between then and now - the record company had to make a decision to release more copies in the following weeks and this would often be seen as crass - although somewhat tempered by just saying they're responding to demand. Now you can stream and download a recently deceased artist while they're still warm.

1960s Top 40 Rate - The 'Impossible' Part 1
Already a better Top 40 than the 1990s one :D

Which artists could achieve a posthumous chart peak?
That's why I put (where they could) in brackets - and there were some on compilations etc. and a whole load of things connected to him. But thanks for your comment.

Which artists could achieve a posthumous chart peak?
Pretty morbid thread here. It kinda goes hand-in-hand with the Spotify Payola one where streaming services immediately created a Bowie / Prince (where they could) playlist and put it on the home screen - death still the best publicity you can get. There used to be a computer game called "Rock Star Ate My Hamster" where you managed a band. One of the options was to try a publicity stunt and you'd see from the next day's tabloid headlines if it went well or not. It usually ended up with something like "Rock Star Punches Bishop" which would give you a small sales boost, but headlines like "Rock Star Dies in Orgy" or "Rock Star Dies in Nuclear War" would give you a huge sales boost. Cynical programmers or just a touch of reality?

Dance Chart Number Ones 1990 - 1999
Vengaboys were pretty blimmin' awful but I had no idea one of them was in LA Style! I've got a couple of their 12"s in my rack at home.

Dance Chart Number Ones 1990 - 1999
I'd agree that dance music was the preserve of the 90s, a lot of pop since 2000 had a pretty heavy dance edge, so the boundaries aren't so clear. Carry on, but a different genre? ;)

Screengrabbed! RESULTS
Very pleased with 15 as Thelma and Louise was the only one I was confident of (and even then I thought Regina might have put the spoof version from Wayne's World 2 in) Most of the films are far too new for me, so I did about as well as could be expected.

17 or 17? This quiz gets more baffling and bamboozling by the second.

Screengrabbed! RESULTS
Ah, was no.17 actually from a comedy sequel spoofing another movie? Damn, I could have had that one. No points for me.

Who Will Win Euro 2016?
Yeah, this is an interesting one - I don't think there's any one team that looks really hot at the moment. Could be anyone's - even England's.

Summer Transfer Thread
If Simon Mignolet is now going to be available then I'd love to see Sunderland bring him back in. That said, Vito Mannone was back in top form at the end of the season, but can he keep it up? Or perhaps Aberdeen could sign Danny Ward permanently?

Spotify Playlist PAYOLA
The notifications allowed you to keep your own personal playlist up to date (and that's what I do, using various different sources to keep me up to date with what is out and coming out - Buzzjack one of them) I couldn't give a shit about how Spotify playlists affect the chart, but they shouldn't dismantle a key feature in order to please major labels.

Game of Thrones (Season 6)
No idea what's going on, but good to see Kevin Eldon on TV last night.

Spotify Playlist PAYOLA
Although I love Spotify, I would happily join a movement to cancel our subscriptions until this stops. Dropping notifications has already really pissed me off, even if I have discovered Swarm.fm as an alternative. It's just a huge waste of time as I'm never going to just click on a shitty list created based on how much a label paid...sadly many, many will. As usual, the majors have found a way to steer the music business towards business rather than music.
