  2. Best to assume I'm anti- everything from beyond 1992 unless I say otherwise ;)

Well, that was quite special - and I do recall being quite wowed by Toyah when I saw that the first time too. I also seem to remember my babysitter (the teenage bloke from across the road) getting pretty excited during the Legs & Co routine for Hands Up and, of course, Adam Ant swinging on a chandelier is still a great moment. My parents never watched TOTP so this was an isolated episode for me before I started watching it off my own back around 1987. By the way, is it my imagination of is the line up of Legs & Co ever changing in 1981? I know they were on their last legs (& co - boom boom!) at this point, but keep seeing new faces, new legs, new co.
  4. When you put it that way...
  5. Yeah, it always felt like T-Spoon's record came out five years too late - but it showed there was still a market for cod-reggae so bad even UB40 wouldn't give it the time of day. In some ways it makes sense that this is included while Ace of Base wasn't. It was going against the norm, rather than the current pop standard and therefore has a slightly more "dance" feel than what else was around then. Or does that not make any sense at all?

OMG this is practically impossible!! I mean, how are you supposed to even look these up!? ;) ;) ;) Will send some awful guesses soon.

Don't forget Leslie Phillips and June Whitfield - but then they showed up looking hacked off in Columbus already. This probably says more about the state of funding for British films right now. Has it really got to the point where they'll only sanction a script if it has a noted brand associated with it?

As Mack said, this story pops up every few years and nothing ever comes of it. I really like the old Carry Ons but there were some real stinkers back in the day too. Carry On England, Carry On Behind and Carry On Emmanuelle are all awful.
  9. FINAL SCORES (for leaderboard if required) 1.Jonjo (10) 2.Joe (11) 2.HarryEzra (11) 4.Chez Wombat (13) 4.Jimmy Jam (13) 4.princess_lotti (13) 7.Regina (14) 7.Iz (14) 9.SamJudd (20) 10.J?hq (21) 11.Ultraviolence1989 (27) 12.Alex! (29) 13.Mack (53) 14.Josh (57)
  10. Our winner with a measly ten points... Jonjo!!! Well done to our winner and apologies to those who found it too difficult. Googling is Googling I thought, but obviously there's obviously more to it. Anyway, I won't do any more. Cheers for playing.
  11. Second equal with eleven points each are Joe and HarryEzra
  12. Prisoner of Azkaban I reckon. Favourite film with Bill Murray in it?
  13. I'll reveal the top 3 soon :D Will HarryEzra, Jonjo or Joe be victorious?
  14. and three players equal in fourth with 13 points... princess_lotti, Jimmy Jam and Chez Wombat
  15. In seventh equal with 14 points each... Regina and Iz
  16. In ninth place with 20 points... SamJudd
  17. In 10th place with 21 points... J▲hq
  18. In eleventh place with 27 points... Ultraviolence1989
  19. In twelfth place with 29 points... Alex!
  20. In thirteenth place with 53 points Mack
  21. In fourteenth place with 57 points... Josh
  22. Ok, on to the scores!
  23. 10. Any film featuring at least two members of the Brat Pack in its cast list.** http://lovelace-media.imgix.net/uploads/680/c5c114d0-fcd8-0132-4fa5-0ec273752cbd.gif POINTLESS - The Outsiders (Mack) - Emilio and Rob POINTLESS - Sixteen Candles (J?hq) - Molly and Anthony 1 - St Elmo's Fire (Jimmy Jam,Joe) - Emilio, Rob, Andrew, Demi, Judd and Ally 1 - Wisdom (HarryEzra,princess_lotti) - Emilio and Demi 1 - Oxford Blues (SamJudd,Jonjo) - Rob and Ally 2 - The Breakfast Club (Chez Wombat,Ultraviolence1989,Iz) - Emilio, Ally, Anthony, Molly and Judd 2 - Class (Regina,Alex!,Josh) - Rob and Andrew Everybody got a low score here, but only two were pointless. The more obscure films on the list tended to get more votes due, no doubt, to the reverse reverse psychology of Pointless. Relatively easy to Google, but difficult to guess which will be lowest - am I right?
  24. 9. Any film written by John Hughes. POINTLESS - Weird Science (HarryEzra) POINTLESS - National Lampoon's Vacation (Regina) POINTLESS - National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (Chez Wombat) POINTLESS - Planes, Trains and Automobiles (Jimmy Jam) POINTLESS - The Great Outdoors (Ultraviolence1989) POINTLESS - Ferris Bueller's Day Off (J?hq) 1 - Sixteen Candles (Alex!,Joe) 1 - Pretty in Pink (Iz,princess_lotti) 1 - Mr.Mon (SamJudd,Jonjo) 14 - Curly Sue (Josh) 14 - Flubber (Mack) Loads of pointless answers here - and it just goes to show how many films John Hughes wrote throughout the 1980s. Unfortunately, while he did write both Curly Sue and Flubber, they were both released in the 1990s and so are wrong.
  25. 8. A reference made to 1980s culture by Marty McFly in Back to the Future which a 1950s character doesn't get. POINTLESS - Marty "invents" the skateboard (princess_lotti) 1 - Marty refers to current sci-fi movies to scare George e.g. "My Name is Darth Vader, I'm an Extra Terrestrial from the Planet Vulcan" (Joe,J?hq) 1 - Lorraine thinks his name is Calvin Klein because its all over his underwear (Jimmy Jam,Alex!) 1 - Marty plays heavy metal guitar at the dance (HarryEzra,Jonjo) 2 - Marty tries to buy a Tab and Pepsi Free in the Diner (Ultraviolence1989,Iz,Mack) 3 - Ronald Reagan is the President (Regina,SamJudd,Chez Wombat,Josh) Not sure why this was such a "tough" question as everybody gave great answers and there was a lot of agreement. There are actually loads and loads of things to choose from - I'd also have accepted 1950s yokels thinking his radiation suit makes him a man from outer space, the belief his body warmer is a life preserver, the idea of "re-runs" on TV and the fact nobody believes his family has two television sets, the use of the word "heavy" to mean worrying, a road named after John F Kennedy who hasn't yet been president or, indeed, shot. Bet there are loads more too.
