  1. But they aren't killing off the formats are they? So, labels and smaller sites will still be able to offer MP3 downloads as a format for those who want them. It took me a long time to go to streaming, but I love it now. I can't really detect any difference in quality. I'm 100% streaming and records now. CDs and downloads are a thing of the past.
  2. Thanks to those who've entered so far. I've learned a few things from the answers submitted! MORE PLEASE!!

Ever since the future of the Beeb came into question - when Whippingdale became high executioner - their coverage has been hideously pro-Tory...I suspect by force. Hopefully now the white paper is out and the death isn't immediate (it'll be more one of a thousand cuts over a prolonged period) they might have the guts to return to impartiality.
  4. Not bad. At least they didn't come back sounding like Kasabian like I thought they would.
  5. Not a huge fan. Elephant Stone is really good, some of the other early ones are decent. Not holding out a great deal of hope that this'll be good, but you never know.
  6. Really pleased Sunderland survived and the Mags went down. Just hope Allardyce can get the same performances at the start of the next season too. No other manager seems to be able too. Mind you, Leicester running riot in the opening game seems far more plausible in hindsight.

  9. Welcome to Pointless: the 80 Movie edition. I'll be hosting this one (but go easy as it's the first one I've done!) As always the point of Pointless is to guess the LEAST popular answer - with ZERO points up for grabs for anyone giving a unique correct answer. Here are the 10 questions for you to answer by the end of MONDAY 16TH MAY with results coming soon after. PM all your answers to me, Richie. ALL ANSWERS MUST REFER TO FILMS RELEASED IN THE UK BETWEEN 1980 AND 1989 AND MY DECISION IS FINAL!!! Can you name...? 1. A historical figure Bill and Ted takes back to San Dimas for their book report. 2. Anybody who performed a cameo in Ray Parker Jr's video for Ghostbusters. 3. A movie from a George Lucas franchise. 4. A song from the Dirty Dancing soundtrack. 5. A non-animated Walt Disney motion picture. 6. An actor from the Breakfast Club. 7. Any member of the Cobra Kais in The first Karate Kid film (1984) 8. A reference made to 1980s culture by Marty McFly in Back to the Future which a 1950s character doesn't get. 9. Any film written by John Hughes. 10. Any film featuring at least two members of the Brat Pack in its cast list.** * - This may be extended if people need more time, but move quickly as if we've enough players by then the opportunity window slams shut! ** - Wikipedia limits this Brat Pack to a core of: Emilio Estevez, Anthony Michael Hall, Rob Lowe, Andrew McCarthy, Demi Moore, Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald, Ally Sheedy PLAYERS 1. 10. I guessed that, but why go to that trouble when she wasn't "known". Tahliah Barnett would have been a good name :)
  11. Ahhh...thanks for giving the me the bend over and flick one or I'd have been in single figures. I was a teen between 1990 and 1996 so not a good round for me.
  12. Now, THAT makes sense.
  13. Exactly - what is CHVRCHES or FKA Twigs?
  14. Keep the "singles" chart (if there are singles these days), but stop broadcasting it on the radio. Instead, broadcast the album chart top 40 (one song from each) which is more varied, moves quicker and is more indicative of what people are buying week on week. Although I look at the top 100 every week on BJ, it means nothing to me. Mostly seems to be made up of groups with a name made of a random series of capital letters and punctuation marks featuring another act made of a random series of capital letters and punctuation marks.
  15. The Alt forum has been full of pop for years?
  16. The album helps put The Wheel in context but I haven't really found myself returning to it.
  17. What!?!?! I take it all back, the 80s rundown is just as bad!!! :teresa:
  18. Very true - and I'll end up not giving points to great songs I don't know. The 90s is the decade I know best by a long, long way so it's no wonder I'm feeling a bit upset by the results!

I think SNP would go with a slight minority, wouldn't they? Greens would back them on quite a few policies anyway. The NE list is a f***ing embarrassment. Four Tories returned from my area - and it turns out both my votes were wasted as I went Green on the list.
  20. New Chris Cohen album 'As If Apart' out today - and it's fantastic.

Well, it's the additional member system up here that is returning most of the Tory MPs...but that wouldn't usually be the case. Definitely do need a PR system for Westminster though, it's practically the only house anywhere that uses FPTP now isn't it? Be careful campaigning for alternative electoral systems though - the shitty AV referendum is practically all the Lib Dems got from Cameron for propping him up and they lost immeasurably for doing that.
  22. Maybe so, but practically a complete reversal of my list - but that doesn't surprise me. I gave up on the 90s rates because my votes weren't having any effect at all.

Ah yes, Diana Dors was fresh from playing the commander in the Two Ronnies' 'The Worm that Turned'. Just two episodes away from the first one I ever saw now. Adam Ant was still number one then too - I loved the video when I was 4.
  24. Definitely looks more Camberwick to me! Song's working more on me. I'd love it if Brian Cant came out of retirement to do a Playaway style cover version.
  25. Well, all my nominations crashed outside the top 60 and weren't mentioned in the commentary - hooray! :D
