Yep, only the four traditional parties taking part in my seat too. No UKIP either. Thinking I'll return to my traditional Lib Dem vote for the seat and give a vote to Green at regional level.
  2. Growing on me - not sure the video's all that great. I'd rather see an episode of Camberwick Green.
  3. It's kinda odd how far that Enya vs Prodigy mix went around the world. It was credited to a guy called Apeboy, but loads of people picked up on it...through P2P file sharing I think. My personal fave mash-up is this one ;) eCzE6kyN2-M
  4. Heh, it must be the font colour - never thought of that!
  5. I swear nobody ever reads anything I write on here!
  6. I knew the guys who did that mashup - Loo & Placido, French blokes. Also of interest to some might be that: Mylo's Dr Pressure was originally done by two guys called Phil & Dog Blondie vs The Doors 'Rapture Riders' was done by a guy from Watford under the name Go Home Productions Eric Prydz's gigantic Call On Me was originally made in a bedroom in Tyne & Wear by a guy called Big Bad Baz.

21 mainly due to 21st century number 1s. I got A1 right even though I thought the question said A-Ha!
  8. Managed a load of pointless answers off the top of my head, so pleased I wasn't last. If Bad Neighbours 2 had actually come out by now then I'd have done better! I'm going to keep on not using Google, it's far more fun. No point in just looking these up.

Julian Cope's autobiography "Head On" has a really good entry about that particular TOTP performance. The extract is on this blog: http://bristlingbadger.blogspot.co.uk/2009...nd-on-acid.html
  10. Rightt.....now I get why that "what's she gonna look like with a chimney on her" lyric is in there - the original title of the vocal makes sense. In the case of both It's Like That and Feel It, it was a chance for the current generation to enjoy the previous generation's (early 80s) music for the first time. In each case, the producers didn't exactly do a lot except sellotape it together with a current beat underneath. Not unlike those awful Starsound records of the early 80s or, indeed, Jive Bunny.
  11. Very much of its time. I don't think it would have made number 2 if it hadn't been forced to be such a limited release and with all the publicity that went with it. As far as the song goes, it was pretty standard SUAD apart from the sample and Peter Bouncer part. The "remix" they had to do for TOTP was bloody awful. Regarding the release, I actually bought it a couple of weeks before it charted in a John Menzies in Inverness. I'm guessing there was either an embargo after it initially went out or some went out early and the folks in the shop just put it on the shelf anyway.
  12. Think we're going back to the 60s before we touch the 00s. Strangely, I suspect I'll know more of the 60s despite not being born then.
  13. Some pretty good number 2s there apart from Baker Street. Undercover appeared to be fronted by a geography teacher dancing at a school disco. I loved the Brits dance medley at the time - and it always sounded weird hearing Jeff Wayne segue into Acieeeeed! When it was 'performed' at the Brits I think the Cookie Crew were the only act to turn up live for their bit (the couplet at the end).

  15. That number one pretty much justifies the full chart, so very happy here! A bit confused at the love for the St Etienne Christmas single though - especially putting it above their Neil Young cover!
  16. I guess that's one of the reasons why I like it. Things like the Rockafeller Skank and Gangsta Trippin' are just too full on party party party - he's better when he's more subtle I think.
  17. I'm guessing Norm was DJing - to be honest, more people would have complained if he'd only cued up his own songs...and, yes, it is a little annoying when collaborations turn out not to be as collaborative as we pop fans thought they were. I doubt Tjinder Singh and Ben Ayres have even met Norman Cook! As one of those fans of Cornershop for many years before the Brimful remix, I wasn't annoyed by the success of the remix or the remix itself. But then I didn't go for the original mix of Brimful particularly either being a much bigger fan of earlier work like England's Dreaming, Readers Wives and Born Disco; Died Heavy Metal. Cornershop are still going (fairly) strong today - they put out a lounge version of their debut album last year which was a lot of fun. As for Norman - I'd say that by this time his best work was behind him. I think he genuinely started recording as Fatboy Slim in an attempt to go more underground (see Santa Cruz, Punk to Funk etc) but he couldn't help himself and reverted back to over the top samples. That said, both Praise You and Right Here Right Now have aged quite well as pop records.
  18. Oh well - not holding much hope for the ones I nominated, but at least I remembered to vote for them :)
  19. Hmm, some of my lower scores going to 3 of the top 4. Good songs still, but his best tracks are a little low down for me.

The only one I Googled was the foreign language one, and that was just to check my hunch. Do people Google these? Tsk.
  21. I know! How on earth can Blink 182 be above Massive Attack?

Great quiz. I thought Will Smith would have gotten me some points and Sliding Doors was for some reason the only film I could think of for the London Underground. I keep forgetting there's a new Jungle Book out there too - thought King Louis would have been popular for that reason. Oh well...

Ha! So, John Cena is a month younger than me. Definitely think I'm looking best for it ;)
  24. Never heard of that Le Disc Jockey song - pretty desperate if there were Sash! tribute going on around that time. Not a huge fan of that Camisra song but it does also remind me of Spaced any time I hear it. You pretty much expect the A Team theme to appear somewhere in it. I remember the girl in the video too. She starred in the pretty awful Danny Peacock programme 'Sister Said' on Channel 5 that featured the sometimes quite surreal antics of an all-girl band. The rest of them ended up in Hollyoaks.
  25. Quite enjoyed that. I only vaguely remember it being out at the time, but always good when dance acts would piece together a video out of old cartoons or movies with expired copyright.
