Just tried but couldn't find - only brings back the Artyfacts Nuggets lists. :(

Vinyl sales soar by more than 60%
That's a really good point. I read an article recently that smaller labels have a very long turnaround now for producing their records because of the demand on UK pressing plants for what are essentially re-issues. For the small label I used to co-run, we always went to the Czech Republic for pressings. That was partly due to cost too, but it did mean a much longer wait.

1990s Top 40 Rate - The 'Impossible' Part 10
Hooray - I'll be far less precious about the 60s and might get introduced to one or two new tracks into the bargain :)

1990s Top 40 Rate - The 'Impossible' Part 10
Heh - think I was getting frustrated with so many of my all time favourites losing out to various Alanis Morrissette tracks. I'd come back for a 60s one! Definitely wouldn't do 00s or 10s though.

Vinyl sales soar by more than 60%
Nobody ever called it "vinyl" or even worse "vinyls" until recently. They were records or, if being specific, 7"s, 12"s and LPs. That's what really annoys me. That and the annual "oh look, call Granny and tell her to buff up her Jim Reeves discs, vinyl has sold more than in recent times" articles in newspapers around Record Shop Day. I too think it's baffling that people are buying records and not playing them but fair play to them. Should be pointed out though, that the high prices are often due to the high quality production costs for 180gm discs and the fact that smaller labels need to make some profit margin on smaller, more expensive runs. Maybe those costs will go down a bit if the pressing plants are all busy though. It'd be a lot cheaper if everyone still manufactured flimsy, crap, paper thin records like when they were the dominant media.

Jeez, as long as they aren't turning Bray Wyatt face!

1990s Top 40 Rate - The 'Impossible' Part 10
I know I gave up on these half way through as the results were very boring but... In what fecked up universe can Sheriff Fatman score the same as a record by Mary Kiani?

Dance Chart Number Ones 1990 - 1999
Best way to settle this would be to get on Youtube and try to find the ITV Chart Show Dance Chart rundowns of the time. If they appeared there then they should appear here.

I like your thinking - turning Reigns heel is the only way he'll be able to get over with the fans (just like The Rock eventually did after a shaky start as Rocky Maivia) and a double turn with Rollins going face would work really well. Ambrose would then become the basis of a "which way will he go" storyline that can play up until Summerslam when, on the night, he shows which side he's chosen (and will probably attack both of them!)

I'm with Colm on the Rednex inclusion. It originally came out on the ZYX and Internal Affairs labels which both traditionally release dance music and was then moved up to Zomba to meet demand presumably. Barbie Girl was always out on Universal and took the pop route. So, both cheesy or not, Rednex count as novelty dance in the same way that Rotterdam Termination Source and Technohead do. (This probably means Eiffel 65 count towards this rundown - damn!)

Zootropolis
Another vote here for best film of 2016 so far. Disney (not Pixar) are light years ahead of other studios in animation right now. Big Hero 6 and Wreck-It Ralph were also fantastic. I'd say they've not been this consistent since Walt died. Couple of gripes: I saw the twist coming about 10 minutes before it did (and that was a bit of a disappointment as the "nice person turns out to be bad" is getting a bit overused) Far too much Gazelle / Shakira - utterly unnecessary character. The music is the only thing Disney need to get back on track. Needed more lemmings (the creatures who buy all the popsicles)!

First BBC Three online figures released
Oof, that's slow! We're stuck out in the country but are right next to a primary school which seems to give us a better connection than some. Still no more than about 3mb/s though.

First BBC Three online figures released
I think we need to get used to this. I reckon one of the only reasons online TV isn't the norm now is because some parts of the country are so far behind in broadband speed etc. Even though satellite dishes can receive HD broadcasts it can't go out and request content like you do over broadband....if they fix this then there'd be no need to have channels as such with fixed broadcast times.

Teleman "Brilliant Sanity"
Really pleased to see this thread on here as I'd pretty much given up starting threads for records I'm really enjoying (they usually drop off with no response at all). Teleman's second LP is pretty great and the singles haven't been off my playlist all year. When I heard 'Fall in Time' in January I couldn't believe how much they sounded like Pete and the Pirates and, lo and behold, half the band were in PATP including the distinctively voiced singer. Great band - all should check them out.

Dance Chart Number Ones 1990 - 1999
Raises an interesting point though. In many cases the originators, trailblazers and, well, interesting artists had been producing that kind of music for 2-3 years and are understandably tired / bitter by the time the genre-hoppers come along and produce music purely for the late commercial market. It makes sense that they'd be ready to move on and that they might take a dim view to the use of obvious samples that make it less about music and more about the quick recognition factor (Trainspotting, Sesame Street, Tetris). As it goes, Norman Cook is usually there at the inception of a music scene. He was a UK dance pioneer in the late 80s and I think even started producing remixes on Housemartins B-sides before releasing dance singles, then in 1995 he released one of the first Big Beat singles as Fatboy Slim in 'Santa Cruz'. Therefore, I can't really call him an opportunistic bandwagon jumper, but he sure knows how to subsequently garrotte the life out of a genre by going way over the top.

Dance Chart Number Ones 1990 - 1999
Eh? It did though, nothing to do with my tastes. By early 1998 the likes of Ooh La La by the Wiseguys, Rockefeller Skank by Fat Boy Slim etc. had brought the genre into the top 10. Meanwhile, several others who had been part of the scene (Cut La Roc, Jon Carter etc) moved away from a sound that had become very commercial. There's a direct parallel with rave in the second half of 1992.

Dance Chart Number Ones 1990 - 1999
Interested to read that Tzant were also PF Project. I couldn't stand "Sounds of the Wickedness" - it was the sign, along with the Rockefeller Skank, that the short-lived "big beat" scene was dead. The "Choose Life" single was utterly pointless but, I guess, in the days before Youtube etc. if you really wanted to hear Ewan McGregor saying those words, you'd have had to buy the Trainspotting video. This way it was cheaper :) And, with my writing hat on, I think "compact disc players" was used instead of "CD players" for rhythmic purposes - it just fits better :)

Minor Victories - 'Minor Victories'
How strange! I'm a pretty big fan of both Mogwai and Slowdive and had been listening to A Hundred Ropes for a few weeks now without realising Rachel and Stuart were involved! Cheers for the info.

Never heard that Tina Moore track. Sunchyme is ok I suppose. I too was quite pleased to find out that Dario G were named after the Crewe manager. I'd always assumed it was an Italian producer until then. Activ 8 is spelled wrong on that compilation grab by the way :)

What's lackadaisical about BGB? I reckon it's the best thing they've done. Will be listening to this tomorrow though :)

Scottish Premier League 2015-16 Season
But surely Rangers have never been in the SPL before? There was a team of the same name a few years back but they folded to avoid paying tax. Maybe this new club from Glasgow can strike up a rivalry with Celtic in the same way though? Be a long long time before they catch up on titles though. Either way, I don't think either club will be signing the type of name that made them dominate in the 90s and 00s. If anything, it might make it even more open next year if teams are taking points off each other.
