  2. Strange chart - thanks though.
  3. BillyH - sorry, late coming back to this thread. It might have been something by The Propellerheads from your description - maybe Spybreak!, OHMSS or History Repeating. Olive was ok. Not keen on the other two. Mind you, I did remember thinking at the time that Ultra Nate had been around for ages and it was weird she only had a big hit then.
  4. Yep, 2010 too - what's this doing in retro? I still haven't heard most of the tunes mentioned here ;)
  5. Oh well, I got an album in at number 40 - don't expect to get any more in!
  6. Shame Orbital's only representation on this thread is the pretty run of the mill cover of The Saint. Especially since The Box was such a brilliant record immediately before. Great act who remain one of the most exciting to see live - there's always a wee surprise thrown in.
  7. Oh well, I had a good start. Surprised not to get any points for a Nightmare on Elm Street and Plan 9 from Outer Space but there you go. Ta for running this.
  8. I reckon she'll complete the course but quite far down. The media circus surrounding her change of sports will then die down completely.
  9. Perhaps Save Your Love was not intended as a novelty record but it did become one. The video in particular has a great novelty feel to it. That's quite an interesting story about the radio station though :)
  10. Bit of a fan of novelty records from the 80s: Tight Fit - The Lion Sleeps Tonight The Tweets - Birdie Song (I do actually really like this and have met the guy who arranged the Tweets version) Black Lace - Superman Captain Sensible - Happy Talk The Firm - Star Trekkin' (although I have to be in the right mood or it's just very annoying) Ottawan - Hands Up Renee & Renato - Save Your Love The Scaffold - Thank U Very Much and Gin Gan Goolie A Tribe of Toffs - John Kettley is a Weatherman Cliff Richard and The Young Ones - Living Doll
  11. I think, if I'd bought tickets to T in the Park, say, just to see the Stone Roses, I'd be pretty angry to hear they'll be playing ropey new stuff instead of just the first album. But you never know, it might be quite good.
  12. Band Aid 20
  13. Great idea - here are my top 30 (if you decide to extend it) based purely on total number of listens on Last.FM. Plenty to get lost way down in the final list there! 1 James Yorkston - The Cellardyke Recording and Wassailing Society 2 King Creosote - From Scotland with Love 3 Errors - Come DOwn With Me 4 The Pains of Being Pure at Heart - The Pains of Being Pure at Heart 5 Rachel Zeffira - The Deserters 6 Ringo Deathstarr - Colour Trip 7 Lower Dens - Twin Hand Movement 8 Steve Mason - Monkey Minds in the Devil's Time 9 Cian Ciaran (Super Furry Animals) - Outside In 10 Rozi Plain - Friend 11 Ikons - Ikons 12 Electric Wave Bureau (Damon Albarn) - Broken OST 13 The Aliens - Luna 14 Steve Mason - Boys Outside 15 Holy f*** - Latin 16 Lower Dens - Nootropics 17 The Phantom Band - The Wants 18 Jonnie Common - Trapped in Amber 19 The Aliens - Astronomy for Dogs 20 Gruff Rhys - American Interior 21 Belle & Sebastian - Girls in Peacetime Want to Dance 22 Euros Childs - Son of Euro Child 23 f*** Buttons - Slow Focus 24 Ringo Deathstarr - Sparkler 25 A Winged Victory for the Sullen - Atomos 26 Super Furry Animals - Dark Days / Light Years 27 f*** Buttons - Tarot Sport 28 The Pictish Trail - Secret Soundz Vol 1 29 Ringo Deathstarr - Mauve 30 Aphex Twin - Syro
  14. Well done on the stats for this thread - one I keep coming back to. Sash(!) were pretty awful. Ecuador(!) is the best of a bad bunch and that's mainly for the comedy Spaniard.
  15. Daft Punk have never bettered Da Funk. Love the video too.

Speaking of Ossy - did he and the Spurs get Yewtreed?
  17. Damn, I've been off BJ for a wee while and this happens.
  18. Glad I voted and prevented the charming, funny and enjoyable Peanuts movie from picking up an award here (you swines!) Bizarre that anyone nominated The Revenant in this but, yes indeed, this is Buzzjack.

Strangely though, for a few years in the 90s, the BRATS winners could be used as predictions for the following year's BRITS winners.
  20. Ah, rubbish indeed...but at least in a good-natured way.
  21. Urgh, true. What else was around at that time? Alice Deejay or Ann Lee perhaps? Urghhhhh!!!!

They really should dispense with public voted awards - or try to see that boy bands are not nominated. But then, either premium number voting or gaining a top trend on Twitter makes it lucrative for them. Stupid though, there was no doubt whatsoever that One Direction would win that...again. Mystified as to why Catfish and the Bottlemen won but good to see Bjork bring some quality to the winners.
  23. Ah, that's interesting. I based my vote for WITW on the album version.
  24. Please exclude Eiffel 65 when they come.
