I thought 7 might sneak ahead of 6. Would also have put 1 last rather than 2.

Pinocchio is the best Disney film in my opinion. They took real time and care over it and made it truly beautiful. It also has the best Disney song in any film in 'When You Wish Upon a Star'...and The Jungle Book has the two next best. Will vote for Beauty and the Beast again, not that anyone else will probably. Edit - hadn't voted when I wrote this post so didn't realise how many votes Pinocchio had. Go on, justify that to me! Also very confused by the lack of votes for 101 Dalmations which, although genuine Disney era, is hugely lacking in storyline.

Yeah, I thought a rate might be better too but happy to take part regularly. Voted for Alabama Song as it's one of the worst cover versions of anything ever!

I really hope it isn't. BBC4 fills the remit to inform, educate and entertain better than any other TV channel. I figured that because so many shows were yew-treed they're simply dispensing with the need to follow the dates and are just pressing ahead. So we might get 1982 or even 1983 starting before the end of the year. By the way - Racey... I was 3 when that programme aired and even at that age I'd have found them embarrassing. Ditto Matchbox.

Totally agree. I think the lyrics irritate me. For some reason I'm quite happy with the nonsense lyrics of Firestarter but not those of Breathe. Strange.

UMMMMMMMMM yes. I can't believe anyone could vote for anything from the Walt Disney / Nine Old Men era before the (admittedly much better than late 70s / 80s) 90s revival. But that's just me.

Totally missed this at the weekend. I too thought Firestarter was a strange new direction but I jumped on it really quickly...mainly through having seen The Prodigy live the year before. Their live show had morphed into a heady rock 'n' roll display with Keith Flint coming to the fore far more than before. So it made sense that he would go on to front the next record. Still holds up as a great rock record that can sit alongside the likes of Anarchy in the UK. Can't quite say the same for the follow up though...which will be along soon. Not bad, but nowhere near as good as it thought it was.

I only had the 1969-1974 collection on CD. Been listening to a few of the 70s albums this week though and Low is my favourite of the lot.

Yes, that's practically always the reason why a much-loved song didn't chart too highly - because fans already had it on an album. Doesn't explain "Heroes" though, which was the lead single of the album of the same name. It hovered in the mid 20s for weeks but never climbed in the way that Sound and Vision did earlier in the year.

It's all part of the plan to make Bray Wyatt champion!

He completely ruined that song in 1997. Why he changed it from being a song about Marilyn Monroe to Princess Di I'll never know. I don't think people would go for it again - it's been an elegy twice before, wouldn't need to be again. (I would guess the charts will have been rendered obsolete by the time he goes anyway)

This. It's also one of his best known and most played and the accompanying TOTP clip is THE definitive Bowie moment. How on earth did you not know how it goes!?

Really would be a victory for music over fame if Bowie could get the top 4 slots and take Bieber's record away after just one week.

Beauty and the Beast is the worst on that list by a long, long way.

I stream practically all my music and he is my demographic ye young whippersnapper!

Wonder if Adele will last as long as Bowie? Will we see a '69' LP on her birthday in 2059? Hopefully not.

Dunno how it works. I just listened to the remastered version off of the Heroes LP on Spotify. Not that one stream will matter...but lots of them and...

Easily in my top 5 Disney films so no way! The 90s films need to go before any of the ones Walt was at the helm for.

Really? I didn't think that one was that popular.

Awful news, I'd expect to see Heroes, Let's Dance and possibly Starman, Ashes to Ashes and Lazarus in the Top 40 on Friday. When you hear the lyrics on Blackstar now it just sounds really depressing. The greatest musical post-mortem since Closer by Joy Division.
