Roger Kitter was well known for alleged comedy. He played Captain Bertorelli in Allo Allo. Not that Bertorelli was an awful character, it's just that he was expected to replace Sam Kelly ('Tler!) and that would never work. What a mistake-a-to-make-a.
  2. Righto, I have a feeling my well known old songs will get vetoed so please change my noms to: King Creosote - Wake Up To This Teleman - Dusseldorf Cabbage - Kevin Chris Cohen - In a Fable The Pictish Trail - Far Gone (Don't Leave)
  3. Cool, then hopefully a song from 1979 is ok!

Joe Lycett should be brilliant. Good to see they've got two female comics on this time rather than just one.
  5. The rules don't seem to specify that it has to be up to date tracks, does it? In that case, these are all eligible. My Bloody Valentine - Soon Pixies - Here Comes Your Man Pulp - Lipgloss Joy Division - Transmission and one from this year King Creosote - Wake Up to This
  6. Can only assume most people haven't seen My Neighbour Totoro as it should be top 20 at the very least.

It's well deserved, always been a great format.

It's funny, I always assumed the Belle Stars had the big hit with this one - but that's just because it's gone on to be used on several soundtracks over the Natasha one (or the original for that matter). An example of the power of TOTP though - Natasha climbed quite nicely after that performance while the Belle Stars dropped out of the top 40 altogether. Had it been the other way round then it'd be interesting to see how the versions clashed. As for Adam Ant - if you watch the video, you'll see Marco Pirroni is still working with him by this time, so he has one Ant, just not the rest.
  9. Surprising number of Christmas albums released on October 21st!

and me - either Andrew or Candice winning would be fair.
  11. Ah I see, in this day in age though why on earth have pre-orders? Just stick an album out when it's ready!
  12. Saw this at the weekend and thought it was great. Not sure which parts could be considered slow though. If you mean scenes with a lot of expository dialogue then I'd say they're pretty important to getting the back story and the concept of time loops. All the better for it as far too many films these days are just action, action, explosion, splat.

Odd week this week in terms of star baker - everybody was a bit rubbish, so it was a case of who was least bad. I think Andrew will win overall but Candice seems to be the nation's favourite.
  14. Once a record has been played on radio somewhere these days it will already have been ripped and uploaded somewhere by somebody. The act / label might as well release it immediately through the official channels and make money from it. If that's what you mean by instant grat singles?

It was rather good - weirdly I'd never heard the Charlene original then...and not entirely sure they had either.

At 74, he's probably not as spritely as he was - not sure he'd be able to gallop off, taking a celeb by the arm like he used to.
  17. Brexiters never seem to be able to name one, let alone single one out.
  18. I didn't realise that - didn't pay enough attention in May then!

At least the bottom two were among the worst dancers this week, the previous week's dance off was pretty ridiculous. Probably good for Naga's sanity that she's gone, she's on TV pretty much every day and can't have had too much time to practice and sleep! I hope Ed will do a John Sergeant if he starts being kept in at the expense of good dancers, not do a Widdecombe.
  20. But the only members who really have any power in the Commons are those Tory backbenchers who may "rebel" and, while those inhabitants of the back benches have changed a bit since June, that's still the case. If they are reasonably united on something then they can push it through without any opposition. It's why I hate majority politics. Of course, there is a flaw in my argument that the same happens in the Scottish Parliament where there is a huge majority for the SNP.

I don't know why they don't just change the name of the ...does Countdown show to something else as the title sounds really odd. Especially since they seem to be phasing out the original show. That said, Rob Beckett and Aisling Bea are both upcoming and both pretty funny.
  22. It sounded like a really bad poor impression of The Go! Team, just gets on me nerves!

The papers love a "records are a things again" story. Wouldn't it be nice though if the local shops stocked records by local acts instead of more and more re-issues?
  24. No. We would have decided to remain in the European single market and to continue to welcome people from other countries to come and live here should they choose to. We would have to continue abiding by some EU laws, but would no longer have to endure the farcical situation where only 1 out of 59 of our representatives has a Parliamentary vote that counts.

I'd have preferred more Missing Hancocks - but they were done really well on Radio 4 already.
