  1. Folklore was an actual album and that was an impressive record to say the least. I have no problem with that now and I’ve never had a problem with it. I’d prefer that was still the record as opposed to this so-called album with 30 songs.
  2. No one is trying to downplay or pit artists against each other. Again, everything I’ve said is a blatant truth. Taylor and Adele are both talented successful women in their own right. This isn’t up for debate. And that’s not what I’m discussing here.
  3. Don’t see the point in discussing this with someone who is being purposely dense. Some fans really are so in love with their favourite artists that they really can’t take the statement of a fact when it disturbs their utopian view of them.
  4. Well, no one is arguing that Chris Brown is a bigger artist than Taylor Swift here.
  5. Doubt it. 30 is an actual album with 12 songs, as it should be. If she does break the record with just 12 songs, now that would be something. It would be mind-blowing, actually.
  6. Well, I don’t mind Taylor so no. If you can’t handle someone stating a blatant fact, that’s on you.
  7. Okay? Did I disagree with that? This is all very childish.
  8. Because I find it lacks artistic integrity to put out an album with 30 songs purely with the intention of breaking streaming records. Then when I see certain fans acting dense like that doesn’t matter, I feel I need to call it out. If I don’t, no one else will.
  9. Well yeah, like I said that’s how it works when people are listening to an “album” (I use that term very loosely where this is concerned) with 2 versions of the same song.
  10. That doesn’t mean anything. If Adele put out another version of EOM, she’d be ahead in overall streams. That’s how it works when you put two versions of the same song out.
  11. I’m glad Adele managed to hold off Taylor just for the principle of it. Don’t mind Taylor honestly, but it’s satisfying to see that putting out an album with 30 songs doesn’t mean you can just easily topple the biggest female artist in the game right now.
  12. I’m thankful the UK charts have a system in place to ensure that albums with a ridiculous amount of songs aren’t allowed to manipulate sales figures. But in the US, they let artists do whatever they want which is why they continue to do it and get away with it. These aren’t albums in any real sense of the word at this point.
  13. How many streams did that get compared to Red TV? And how many songs did each album have?
  14. Well she would with 30 songs on the album. The next TV will probably have 50 songs and break the record again. I don’t mind Taylor. But I do find a lot of her biggest fans love to ignore the obvious that her streams are obviously inflated due to having so many songs on the album.
  15. It’s probably her biggest album and has like 30 songs on it though. Just looked at the US numbers and they’re much better, but again she has 30 songs on the album. I’ll be interested to see how it holds up for the rest of the week. I’m expecting a collapse, actually. Especially for the ATW 10 minute version.
  16. Again, I expected her to be doing much better on Spotify… but she is bigger in the US than anywhere else I guess… I thought she was a bigger star in the UK.
  17. I expected Taylor to be doing better tbh. She’ll probably do much better on Spotify.

It’s absolutely absurd to me how there isn’t more outrage about something like this as opposed to Adele for instance.

I just find it funny how some record stores are boycotting Adele’s 30 for printing 500k, but are silent on certain artists and bands printing countless vinyl variations of the same album. ABBA has already sold over 30,000 vinyls this week alone in the U.K., so god knows how many they’ve sold worldwide. So I don’t get why some record stores are trying to make Adele the boogeyman here. It’s not like she’s doing loads of different vinyl variations of the same album to the extent others are doing. She’s merely making sure there’s enough supply by estimating potential demand. I’m not saying she’s totally in the right, but I don’t agree with making her the boogeyman at all.

Oh, absolutely. There’s like a gazillion different vinyl versions for ABBA’s new album.

Well, can’t say I disagree with that one

ABBA’s album is run of the mill and anyone pretending otherwise really needs to have a word with themselves. It’s a good album but let’s not pretend that it’s the creme de la creme. It’s an enjoyable pop album by a 70’s pop band, just with aged vocals. I’m happy that they are doing such huge numbers as I’m a fan but there’s really no need for the snobbery.

Oh, Adele is absolutely getting the #1 this week. She’s #1 on Apple Music, Spotify, and Amazon. She’s also closed the gap on itunes. She couldn’t have asked for better from this song really. I really like the song, but I didn’t expect it to still be number 1 in both the UK and US by the time the album was released, but it’s looking like an almost certainty now.

    No update which is disappointing.
