I don’t believe in these tricks to get #1. I also find it majorly disrespectful to fans to encourage them to buy multiple copies of your album. It shows the little regard with which she holds her fans as far as I’m concerned.

Yes, but the person who said that admittedly didn’t even know for sure that there was 50k physical orders of Bad Habits as he predicted. He was going off precedent, not actual numbers. I very much doubt Ed Sheeran had sold 50k physicals of Bad Habits, so he was most probably never going to get the #1 anyway.

Suspect Adele will almost certainly clinch the #1 by the end of the week again. She’s still ahead on Spotify and Apple Music, even during the weekend which is the worst time for EOM in terms of streaming. Will be close though.

Overpass Graffiti has grown on me considerably. It’s quite possibly my favourite Ed song at this point.

She is considerably bigger but pure sales are ostensibly dead right now. I hope she can exceed my expectations, but I am not confident we are going to be seeing huge numbers. I’m going with 225k for 30.

I don’t know, I think they could be onto something. I’ve lowered my expectations for Adele. Anything over 200k at this point would be a humongous success for her.

Looking like ABBA might end up doing even less sales than Ed which will come as a shock to many, including myself. Rooting for them though, and hope Summer Walker can clinch the #2 spot! In singles, I’m rooting for another week at #1 for EOM.

So happy Adele retained the #1! I don’t think there’s any other artist who could have stopped Ed from getting the #1 spot this week, but that’s just a testament to the power of Adele!

I hope people don’t call = a flop because it’s really not. It’s still going to be one of the best selling albums of the year! The numbers are bad for his standards but still good.

I don’t think Overpass Graffiti is going to do as much as his other singles this era. It’s missing something!

Is HMV even that much of a force these days? I’d say 5,000 extra sales at the most from HMV preorders and Friday sales tbh.

Absolutely not a flop by any standards. But yes, disappointing. I’m wondering if Adele should be concerned at this point, but I suppose we’ll have to wait and see.

He said he had 600,000 preorders (I’m assuming he meant WW). But that still can’t have been accurate info he’d received because you’d expect a disproportionate number of those preorders to be UK sales, but clearly they are not showing through in the numbers we have so far. He might have meant pre-adds (i.e. those who pre-added the album on streaming services). Mind you, for context Adele has already racked up over a million pre-adds on Apple Music alone and consequently broke the record for the most pre-adds ever).

How long did Bad Habits stay at #1 for? And then he followed that up with another big hit in Shivers. With a run like that, you’d have expected humongous sales. So what’s going on? Is it Ed or is the era of the physical CD approaching obsolescence before our very eyes?

Respectfully, that’s why I said appalling numbers FOR Ed. For almost anyone else, they’d be great. But considering it is Ed and there is no escaping that, these numbers are appalling as far as I’m concerned.
