Will both versions of Dimelo count towards the chart?

Well, he certainly doesn’t mind it because he’s been ridiculously complimentary of her in all the interviews I’ve seen. It’s a privilege for him to get to do a song with Beyoncé. She’s literally a living legend. Let’s put things into perspective here. Whether you like her or not really doesn’t make much a difference to her career or life.

Beyoncé is a smart business woman. Good for her. New artists need to make sure they get a writing credit because that’s where most of the money is.

I don’t really see what your point is tbh. Most duets are like that. It seems people wanted Bey to be extra on the track or something, which would have meant that she would have been accused of trying to overpower Ed on his own song. She could have let rip and done runs galore which no other female could do, but it wouldn’t suit the song.

She’s hardly ‘jumping on songs that are already hits’. Ed explained on the Ellen show that he wanted to relaunch the song and asked Beyoncé to do it thinking she would say no, but as she had already heard the album before release and Perfect was her favourite song, she said yes. You all should know better than to think Beyoncé needs to jump on anything. She sells her albums regardless and could have a solo hit if she wanted.

Either separate the songs, or give her credit. To give her absolutely no credit on the chart is just wrong. Take the original version out of it. There’s a very good chance that the duet alone would go to number 1. So it makes absolutely no sense not to credit her.

I’ve seem some ridiculous things in my time following the charts, but this might be the most ridiculous. She should absolutely be credited since she is catalyst for its number 1 position.

Isn’t that because one was a charity single? That’s the only exception. Every other situation has been combined as far as I know. Essentially, Sam Smith and John Legend was an exception, not the rule.

That’s why I said it was interesting phrasing. They called it a rerelease - which suggests they would be charting separately. However, they also called it a remix which would suggest they would be combined. However, on their tweet, they said “Can Beyoncé help push Ed Sheeran to number 1?” or something like that suggesting they would be combined.

Interesting phrasing from the official charts company: ‘Ed Sheeran's Perfect, which has today been rereleased in remixed form to include vocals by Beyoncé, goes Top 3 for the first time, climbing one place.’ Looks like they’re classifying it as a remix and I think she will be credited as they’ve also called it a rerelease.

Perfect is one of the few songs I like from Ed Sheeran. It’s beautifully written. Formulaic, maybe. But most good pop songs are.

Looking at streaming and iTunes positions, I don’t see anything but Perfect being number 1 this week. The question is: Will Beyoncé even be credited?

I don’t think the title has been changed. I think it’s literally the ‘Perfect’ Duet. I don’t think the word duet is literally part of the title. Anyway, surely thy are going to be combined because what was the point in releasing it otherwise?

How can they possibly not credit Beyoncé when it’s with her help that it’s got to number 1 in the first place (assuming it does)? I think that would be wrong. She plays a substantial part on the duet.

I don’t know if anyone else has realised, but Perfect sounds nearly identical to Ave Maria in some parts. I’m starting to think that’s why he asked her to be on the song, because she could definitely sue him for that. Anyway, it’s #30 now.
