  1. Texas back at #1 on Apple Music (and #1 + #6 on iTunes). What’s impressed me the most about Texas is its stability.
  2. Beyoncé at #1 & #6 on iTunes now. Anyone know a reason for the increase?
  3. She’s criticised quite a lot based on what I’ve seen and it’s often rooted in misogyny.
  4. Ariana is holding up really well, I’m really pleased for her. She’s immensely talented and doesn’t get the credit she deserves in my opinion
  5. I personally think Stick Season has distorted people’s perception of what a hit is. Not every song and not every hit is going to be as big as Stick Season. Not every hit is going to be consistently at 600,000+ streams. Not every hit is going to be #1 for 7-8 weeks. That doesn’t make it any less of a hit. The fact Beyoncé even temporarily overtook Stick Season is mightily impressive and if it was Ariana who did that, I’m sure Joseph would be the first to point out how ludicrous it is to call this a collapse because it lost 100,000 streams and settled around 500,000 after being removed from tiktok at the height of it being viral. I agree with almost everything you say, Joseph. You arguably have the most reasonable takes out of anyone, but on this occasion I feel you’ve let yourself down by consistently feeding and giving credence to the collapse narrative.
  6. That’s a bit disingenuous, I have to say. I stated there is no collapse and the narrative is ridiculous, and it was you who was quick to point out the 100,000 loss in streams, implying that there has in fact been a collapse. Either stand by your words or don’t, but I find it disingenuous to say “I’m looking at both sides” when you are really the most adamant defender of the collapse narrative from what I’ve seen. You have been the one consistently defending the narrative whilst also saying it’s not a collapse at the same time. I have no problem with you pointing out the decline in streams, that’s what this thread is for. I have a problem with you consistently pointing that out in the context in which you do, which is to give credence to the narrative that there is some kind of collapse. Yeah, the 100,000 decline is interesting to note and in any other circumstance we’d have a productive discussion and debate as to why that is, but it’s impossible to do so when it’s presented in the context of a collapse, which most reasonable people find absurd.
  7. You’re forgetting that her song was taken off tiktok for a while which blunted its momentum. But I wish you’d stop defending those calling it a collapse as you’re usually pretty reasonable. It’s a 3 week #1 for goodness sake. It could fall 300,000 streams and I’d still be hesitant to call it a collapse since it’s already proven itself to be a solid hit. It’s still #1 & #14 on iTunes, #1 on Apple Music, #1 on Amazon, and #3 on Spotify a month after release. It’s just bloody ludicrous to refer to this as a collapse, especially when the 100,000 drop is accounted for by the fact that the song was taken off tiktok in the midst of it being viral.
  8. There is no collapse and this narrative is ludicrous.
  9. I see Gaga as more of an actress now than I do a superstar but she definitely has it in her to produce good numbers if she wishes. Her holding events for big pharma at her sprawling mansion isn’t doing her many favours with her loyal fanbase (of which I include myself a part of).
  10. Never in my life did I think I’d see people referring to a 3 week #1 as a collapse but here we are :P
  11. Thanks. Going to be a really close race for #1 this week by the looks of it.
  12. It’s not a flop but a definite underperformance.
  13. Does anyone with Prime have the top 5 on the music charts?
  14. Texas back up to #1 on Apple Music.
  15. Tbh, I’m not really versed in Ariana’s streaming performance. How did her last album do on Spotify?
  16. Beyoncé back to #1 on Apple Music and nice increase on Spotify today. Ariana will probably take #1 next week but impressive stability from Texas.
  17. What do we expect Ariana’s streaming numbers to be like next week and could she snatch #1? I think that would be cool if she could.
  18. 2 weeks at #1 on Billboard is hardly a collapse. I’d say this post is more wishful thinking than anything.
  19. Does anyone with Amazon Prime have the top 5 on Amazon music, please? Thanks.
  20. Texas is literally everywhere so this doesn’t surprise me. I’m seeing that it’s been taken off tiktok so I’ll be interested to see if that changes anything, but I suspect the song has become so huge that it will be able to continue the momentum on its own. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
  21. Apple has updated. Olly Alexander - #52 Pharrell & Miley - #152 (that’s shockingly bad I have to say)
  22. There’s a possibility Ariana will get #1 when her album is released, but I think Beyoncé is still looking like a strong #1 for the foreseeable. Her album also comes out on the 29th March so I suspect it will return to the top spot if she loses it. Think Texas is looking at around 5-7 non-consecutive weeks at #1 overall.
  23. Beyoncé at #1 & #5 now.
  24. That update is massive. Never thought I’d see Beyoncé smash like this on streaming tbh.
  25. Beyoncé at #1 and #6. Bloody hell, this song is everywhere.
