I’m not sure we can compare Cher to Beyoncé for a multitude of reasons but sure, that’s why I said almost unprecedented.

Since no one else has said it, I will: Beyoncé is absolutely smashing in the UK and deserves credit for doing so. To be over 10,000 copies ahead by Monday is seriously impressive stuff and all things indicate she’s on track to possibly have the biggest hit of her career in the UK, 27 years after her initial debut. We are witnessing something that is almost unprecedented.
  3. Beyoncé at #1 & #5 now.
  4. That update is massive. Never thought I’d see Beyoncé smash like this on streaming tbh.
  5. Beyoncé at #1 and #6. Bloody hell, this song is everywhere.
  6. Crazy good update for Beyoncé on Spotify. 641,617 (+59,934)

Texas is definitely country with pop influences, but I don’t think Texas is going to be representative of the album as a whole if BMS and Act 1 is anything to go by. It’s probably the most radio friendly song on the album which is why it’s the lead single. I suspect the album will be a lot more rooted in the history of country and its foundations which form the bedrock of country than any other country album released in quite some time. Beyoncé is not going to do a half-assed country album. If she’s going to do it, she’s going to do it properly.
  8. 1 & 8. Beyoncé - TEXAS HOLD 'EM (Explicit & Clean)
  9. Texas has the potential to be a huge multi-week #1 for Beyoncé.
  10. Should I send you my bank deets now or later?
  11. 2 & 9. Beyoncé - TEXAS HOLD 'EM (Explicit & Clean)
  12. Beyoncé up to #1 on Apple Music for the first time (first time with Texas, that is).

Fair enough. Let me just preface what I’m going to say with this: Taylor is a super talented songwriter and has had a career that almost anyone would be enviable of. Her impact is huge and her longevity is impressive. She is undoubtedly the most successful female singer out there right now as it relates to the commercial aspect (it could be argued that Adele is above her in that regard). I just feel like there’s a lot of re-writing of history as it pertains to Taylor. She has never been super successful globally up until the last 5 years. Beyoncé has been a successful global artist since almost the beginning of her career. We can talk about “levels” all day, but I doubt many would say Taylor has had a more successful career than Beyoncé in terms of both cultural, critical, and commercial impact worldwide. That’s the last I’m saying on the matter. I’m not going to get into a back and forth about Taylor v Beyoncé because as has been said, they are not even peers and do not typically inhabit the same lane. I find the debate futile and quite disrespectful to both artists. It’s as though people like to humble Beyoncé by comparing her to the most commercial pop star in the world right now in order to negate her extraordinary career and the impact she has had, and it sincerely comes off as racist to me. And I say all that as a straight white male. Quite frankly, I find the need by some people to state, and oftentimes insist, that Taylor is at a “higher level” than Beyoncé to be quite odd to say the least, as almost nobody would argue that Taylor as it a “higher level” when it comes to talent; If they did, I’d urge them to take a meticulous psychiatric evaluation. I’m not even going to get into the debate of whether Taylor would be as commercially successful if she wasn’t a conventionally attractive white blonde woman with a girl next-door demeanour, because I think everyone knows the answer to that question and I find that the disingenuous amongst us pretend that simple fact is somehow negating Taylor’s talent, which I have gone to great lengths to avoid.

My point still stands, the majority of people would rather have Bey’s talent and career over Taylor’s. Can’t believe anyone would even debate that, but nothing surprises me anymore. Also, Bey has been around 10 years longer than Taylor and is 42 years old.

I mean, let’s see how Taylor’s selling in 2034 before we jump to any conclusions about levels. Beyoncé is 28 years into her career and I’m sure most would take her career over Taylor’s.

Now this is funny. Let’s not re-write history now. It’s well known that Beyoncé sabotaged the performance of many of her songs during the 2010’s, with Tidal exclusives, no promotion, and so on. It was always bigger for Ed to be on a track with Beyoncé than the other way around, and he’s said as much.

Perfect was heavily influenced by the melody of Beyoncé’s version, which was a re-write with a different melody and lyrics. She could have very well sued him for it if she so wished.

It’s not often talked about, but she only really did it because he stole the melody from her song Ave Maria and instead of suing him she agreed to do the duet which was very kind of her.

    Insane longevity.

  21. Stable Spotify update for Beyoncé and Dua today, remaining at #2 and #14, respectively,
  22. I’m by no means an Ariana fan, but to call Yes, and? a flop is outrageous That Mariah remix is still the worst thing I’ve heard this decade, however. Nor do I think Training Season not debuting at #1 is an underperformance. Like Joseph said, Dua has never debuted at #1 before, so what exactly is it an underperformance in relation to? In order for it to be an underperformance, she would have to have a reputation for consistently debuting at #1, which is evidently not the case. Do I think Training Season is going to be huge? No. There is something missing for me as for as the song is concerned, but I have no doubt that it will experience some degree of commercial success, and I think she’s destined for a #1 album in both the US and UK. Dua is not going anywhere as much as some of you seem desperate for her to fall off the face of the earth. I am not a fan but she seems like a pretty lovely person and she’s proven herself to be a very capable artist.

I think this update will help Beyoncé. It’s just going to push the Beyhive to mass buy I’d suspect.

The update doesn’t include streams? What’s the bloody point then? :???:

Physical sales helping Dua early in the week, but don’t think that will be the case by the end of the week for some reason.
