How about ditch ACR and these much older songs would not make such an impression. Also, how long does a song stay viral for?

Maybe you like Australia’s chart rules, whereby if an older song (one that hasn't charting in the Top 100 for at least 10 years) goes majorly viral or lands a huge sync placement in a movie or TV show, a record label can request to have it reinstated on the Main Charts. If approved, it is allowed to stay on the main chart for a maximum of 10 weeks.

Will the OCC change the rules again?
That’s the point- they’re not getting the chance to break through based on not being included in the most popular playlists. All in all, if the chart is to reflect popularity as closely as it can, it needs to include all ways music is consumed.
-
Will the OCC change the rules again?
Yes it is- people choose to listen to curated playlists on both streaming and radio. Wasn’t Madonna recently #1 on the radio airplay chart! Inclusion of this data would certainly balance legacy acts total exclusion from streaming
-
Will the OCC change the rules again?
I never said it was a solution. It’s another way people consume music. Have you looked at the airplay chart recently- there’s far more variety and movement! Skip a song > change the station.
-
Will the OCC change the rules again?
I’m talking about audience data not actual number of plays. Only music paid for - so no data used from free users then?
-
Will the OCC change the rules again?
I still think add a radio airplay element to the chart. It’s another way that music is consumed. I don’t see how it’s any different to passively listening to playlisted tracks by Spotify. It would also mean more variety and more movement/upredictability in the chart and give a chance for legacy acts to shine. Also, scrap ACR and the max number of tracks by an artist which can chart. Furthermore, only allow the top 5 Christmas songs to chart or move older tracks to a Christmas catalogue chart.

70 Years of the UK Albums Chart
How can Oasis be on 6.2 million sales - it only passed 5.7 million a few weeks ago!
-
70 Years of the UK Albums Chart
The only list I’m interested in is the biggest albums of all time. Post millennium lists, especially those solely based on streaming, and divided into decades mean absolutely nothing to me.

70 Years of the UK Albums Chart
Pretty sure Oasis have now overtaken Adele
