Alex's Favourites from UK Singles Chart (1970-2001)
14.08.1999 : Steps - Love's Got A Hold On My Heart (2 weeks # 1) http://991.com/newgallery/Steps-Loves-Got-A-Hold-226903.jpg iG_-m-mBn-g 7th # 1 single for Steps. "Love's Got a Hold on My Heart" was the lead single to be taken from the band's second album "Steptacular". The single narrowly missed out the #1 spot and was third # 2 single, losing out to Latin pop singer Ricky Martin. Spending 12 weeks on the British charts, this single is the group's only single to fall off the charts for two consecutive weeks and then re-enter. The single achieved some international success, peaking at #9 in Finland, #18 in New Zealand and #29 in Australia. The video, shot in Cannes in the South of France, was directed by Dani Jacobs. The main plot sees the group chase a man who has stolen the film reel for the fictitious "Steps: The Movie, intercut with clips of the band performing the dance routine on a jetty (dressed in yellow outfits) ".

Alex's Favourites from UK Singles Chart (1970-2001)
31.07.1999 : Britney Spears - Sometimes (1 week # 1) http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-H_ddRc4CLv8/Tm4QiDwDG0I/AAAAAAAAOnA/fXKupvQkga0/s1600/sometimes-britney-spears.jpg t0bPrt69rag "Sometimes" was released as Spears' second single from her debut studio album "Baby One More Time". It's a teen pop song that draws influences from bubblegum pop, and alludes to a relationship where a shy girl is reserved on expressing feelings to her lover. Lyrically, the song is a "heartbroken ballad", where Spears declares on the introduction, "You tell me you're in love with me / That you can't take your pretty eyes away from me / It's not that I don't wanna stay / But every time you come too close I move away". "Sometimes" attained worldwide success, peaking inside the top ten in eleven countries. In United States, the song peaked at number twenty one. The song reached number one in Belgium (Flanders), Netherlands and New Zealand, while reaching number two in Australia. In United Kingdom, the song reached number three, and is also Spears' third best-selling single in the country.

John's Top 100 favourite movies
Didn't watch any movies with Doris Day, but like some her songs, two lovely singers did the amazing covers on her songs (Mary Hopkin's version of Que Sera is very different and charming and Kathy Kirby's "Secret Love" was my Vintage # 1) Doris version was included in my "Top 100 favourite UK # 1 singles" countdown.

I dislike Cheryl. Really need to re-listen Kimberley's album, it was the one from my favourite albums in 2013, but now I even don't remember some songs.

Alex's Favourites from UK Singles Chart (1970-2001)
Great time period in UK Singles Chart. Many classic pop songs were on the top of my personal chart. 26.06.1999 : Sixpence None The Richer - Kiss Me (3 weeks # 1) http://muzyka.kulichki.net/sixpence_none_the_richer/sixpence_none_the_richer1.jpg 8N-qO3sPMjc Sixpence None the Richer is an American Christian pop band. Leigh Nash met guitarist and songwriter Matt Slocum at a church retreat in the early 1990s. The two formed Sixpence None the Richer, named for a line from the book Mere Christianity by the author C.S. Lewis, soon after and went on to record four full-length albums with the band. Their first album, released when she was just 16, was The Fatherless & the Widow. The album garnered critical acclaim and Slocum and Nash searched for new band members. "Kiss Me" is a song recorded by Sixpence None the Richer from their 1997 self-titled album. Released as a single in 1998, it reached No. 2 on the Billboard US Hot 100. It became the main theme song for the teen film "She's All That" starring Rachael Leigh Cook. The song was a worldwide success; it reached number four in UK Singles Chart and Canada and number one on Australian singles chart, making it the group's highest-charting single across the world. The song is also the group's best-selling single in United States, peaking at number two for one week behind TLC's "No Scrubs". Even though it only reached second place, the song did have great longevity on the chart, spending 16 weeks in the Top Ten and 35 weeks on the chart. At the end of 1999, Billboard ranked the song as the sixth best-selling single of 1999, ahead of a number of other No. 1 hits.
