  1. 99. Avril Lavigne - What The Hell (146,400) Speaking of relatively unsucessfull 2011 comebacks. After an absence of four years from the music scene Lavigne returned in January 2011 with this which peaked at #16 in the charts, her lowest peaking lead single which would come from her lowest peaking album, Goodbye Lullaby, which limped to No.9 and her only album not to have hit the top spot. I don't think it takes much to figure out why this under preformed, What the Hell is terrible and at ten years into her career is the kind of song she really should've grown out of singing. The rest of the album is decent but neither subsequent singles 'Smile' nor 'Wish You Were Here' troubled the Top 100 leaving Lavigne's UK career a bit in limbo. Hopefully she'll turn it around with her next album as Avril is still one of my favourite artists tQmEd_UeeIk
  2. 100. Britney Spears - Till The World Ends (146,200) Britney's 2011 comeback was a bit of a blip in the UK to say the least. A lack of promotion meant that unless you were a hardcore Britney fan you probably weren't even aware she had an album coming out. Till The World Ends was the second release from the 'Femme Fatale' album and limped to an unimpressive #21 in the charts, her second lowest peaking single at the time after 2009's 'Radar' (#46). 146k sales for a #21 single isn't bad by any means and says a lot for the high 2011 sales climate but it does not disguise the fact that this era was a bit of a flop for Britney in the UK anyway, the album was her first to spawn three conescutive top tens in the US. The sad thing about this is the album was actually her best work since 'In the Zone' in my opinion and Till The World Ends a highlight. Hey ho, there's always next time eh Brit? qzU9OrZlKb8
  3. Hello all! This is a list I've made myself using end of year chart figures, music week sales reports and any other information I can gather so hopefully it's reasonably accurate, I thought mid-way through 2012 would be a good time to start The criteria I've used for a song to be eligible for this countdown is slightly different to the one Gezza used when he did the best selling female hits of the 80's and 90's where songs with a featured artist are permitted. I've decided to include sinWgles with featured artists as long as the female artist is credited as the lead artist, so for example: Eminem feat. Rihanna - Love The Way You lie is INVALID because Rihanna is credited as a featuring artist however Rihanna feat. Drake - What's My Name? is VALID because Rihanna is credited as the lead artist Hope that makes sense? When should I start? No time like the present!

       This was my favourite sing for such a long time but I did think it would lose it's #1 status
  5. Gotye feat. Kimbra - Somebody That I Used to Know Carly Rae Jepsen - Call Me Maybe Marina & The Diamonds - Primadonna Flo Rida - Wild Ones David Guetta feat. Sia - Titanium Katy Perry - Part of Me Nicki Minaj - Starships Coldplay feat. Rihanna - Princess of China Carly Rae Jepsen - Curiosity Rihanna - Where Have You Been
  6. Love both Thank You and My Band. We had Jamelia's album as I recall my sister loved her but other than the singles there was nothing that good to be honest, and except for Thank You and See It in a Boys Eyes I wasn't crazy on the singles either.
  7. 2003 had a lot of number two's didn't it? The Black Eyed Peas - I too have a love/hate relationship with them but 'Shut Up' falls in the former - I love it and at the time had the CD Single on constant repeat on a portable CD player at school. I envy kids with Ipod at school now, a lot easier to make music listening more secretive. The Darkness - I bought the single if only to feel involvement in the Xmas Chart Battle but I don't think I ever actually liked the song I just preferred it to 'Mad World' which is dreadfully dull Roll on 2004, my personal favourite year for music ever
  8. I agree about Me Against the Music to be honest. It was Britney and Madonna it should've been spectacular but it's horribly average
  9. Jennifer Lopez has 3: Love Don't Cost a Thing from J-Lo Get Right from Rebirth On The Floor from Love? Beyonce also has 3: Crazy in Love from Dangerously In Love Deja Vu from B-day If I Were a Boy from I am Sasha Fierece As does Whitney Houston: Saving All My Love for You from Whitney Houston I Wanna Dance With Somebody from Whitney I Will Always Love You from The Bodygaurd
  10. I loved Flip Reverse it but I was only 11 years old at the time and thought I was cool, so hopefully I'll be forgiven as I'm finding it awful listening to it now Blue weren't great, their first album was good and I bought it and I liked 'One Love' but by 2003 I was over them, as were many of my friends who were girls who'd moved onto Busted during 2003; they would then switch to McFly in 2004/2005. Year 7 kids, so fickle though they did keep up their obession with Calvin Goldspink for the entire of S Club 8's duration
  11. I love Turn Me On and Baby Boy! I actually prefer Baby Boy to a lot of Beyonce's other big hits (I can't stand Single Ladies and Halo)

I love More Than a Woman! Sad times :(. But if it means A1's 'Caught In The Middle' rises to the top then I won't be complaining
  13. Sweet Dreams is absolutely brilliant one of the best pop songs of the 00's. As for the Darkness, hated them and hate them now
  14. 57. Lady Gaga - The Edge of Glory The first of only 2 entries from Lady Gaga, I was a bit dissapointed with 'Born This Way' to be honest - it's not a bad album but she did build it up to be something spectacular and the it was something only a little above average IMO. 'The Edge of Glory' is a great pop song and the closest to any song from The Fame Monster I could find on the album, maybe my disappointment with the era came from my assumption Gaga would stay the same and the era would be the same as The Fame was. Obviously this is Gaga were talking about, I was very naive to think that QeWBS0JBNzQ 56. Foster the People - Pumped Up Kicks Not really much I can say about this, a good song that I liked and bought SDTZ7iX4vTQ
  15. One of my favourite songs of all-time and my favourite Kylie songs by MILES (Other than this, Better the Devil You Know, Confide In Me, CGYOOMH and Spinning Around I'm not too fussed about her if I'm honest)

  17. Hi, have only just got to posting my chart here. 18. White Flag is one of my mum's favourite songs but I can't stand it. Except for the brilliant 'Here With Me' and the sampling of 'Thank You' on Eminem's 'Stan' I really don't care at all for Dido. It is weird how her first 2 albums were massive and then she kind of just dissapeared Never really fussed about the Lemar track either but I did love '50/50' and 'If There's Any Justice' 'Pretty Green Eyes' is awesome though - easily in my top ten dance songs of all-time and probobaly in the 90's of my 100 favourite songs ever
  19. I was 11 years old for most of 2003 (born February 92) and I can tell you that Fast Food Rockers were the biggest thing for kids at that time. Not for me though, I was about to enter 'big school' that September so was obviously too cool for such silly songs I see your points about the S Club songs but I can't bring myself to dislike them. For me those two songs represent a turning point in my life - that being the (beggining of) the end of my childhood. I was 11 years old, in my final month before I went to High School and the band that pretty much defined my childhood were splitting up
  20. 59. Scouting for Girls - Love How It Hurts I don't know what Scouting for Girls have done to deserve the hate they get from people - I've liked every single one of their singles! Even 'Elvis Aint Dead'. I love this song and found it quite relateable; most of us will have gone through the subject matter at some point in our lives. Shame this is probobaly the last we'll ever hear from them though 11mkTm0WpBU 58. The Cast of Lemonade Mouth - Determinate "WTF is this?" I hear you say, yes I'm quite preplexed as to how this made it on to my year-end chart. It's from a Disney Channel Movie called "Lemonade Mouth" (which wins the oddest film title of 2011 award) which was aired over the summer. I was lucky to go on 2 summer holidays last year; one with the family and one with my mates. The apartment I stayed in with my family had Sky and my sister was watching Disney quite a lot and this song was played constantly and to my surprise I grew to love it LWGcejbf2gE And because I'm feeling critical today, here are the first 2 entries from my "Worst songs of 2011" list 10. JUSTIN BIEBER - MISTLETOE A worst song list wouldn't be a worst song list without Bieber would it? He released this back in October and my sisters were all over it. It takes a lot for me to call something my least favourite Bieber song ever, this gladly takes the crown. Fortunately for the Biebs, the 2 songs I have heard from him so far in 2012 have taken my surprise - I don't like them but they won't be making my least favourite songs of the year for 2012 LUjn3RpkcKY 09. DAVID GUETTA - LITTLE BAD GIRL This piece of generic crap is the worst thing I've heard from Guetta ever (beating the likes of 'Sexy Bitch' and 'Gettin Over You'). Luckily, the rest of his 2011 album was brilliant and he does pop up once or twice in my favourite song list 9ha5ujHnYXg
  21. 61. Black Eyed Peas - Just Can't Get Enough One of the only BEP songs post-Monkey Buisness that I like here. A welcome return to form for them though it's still very different from the kind of music they were releasing between 03 and 06 which is when they were at their best. Not much else to say really but it was nice to know they could still produce good music afte the horriffic "Time (Dirty Bit)" OrTyD7rjBpw 60. Selena Gomez & The Scene - Love You Like a Love Song There's nothing wrong with pop music in my book and this was one of the highlights of pop music in 2011. I knew of Selena Gomez having two younger sisters but had never heard any of her songs other than 'Natural' (which I did like) so I was pleasently surprised when I heard this song. What's more surprising is this song is the 1st song out of 3 Disney related songs in this countdown LupeGtJ3a3E
  22. 63. Ke$ha - The Harold Song I'm not typically a Ke$ha fan and all of her other songs seem to involve getting drunk in a club but this is different. It is deffinately the most personal thing I have heard from her, a ballad about losing your true love and suceeds in showing a completely different side to her. Why this wasn't a single over the frankly terrible 'Blow' is frankly beyond me - this has hit written all over it hkS70kPSLNI 62. Avalanche City - Love, Love, Love Ever heard of Avalanche City? Neither had I until I heard this song after a friend suggested this song to me as the video contained penguins (my favourite animals). They're an alternative band from New Zealend and after looking into their other stuff I've found this song is the only thing they've done I like. Hope you enjoy YWzzbuJJYQc
  23. I know it's a bit late being May and all but I only recently joined Buzzjack. I though I'd give this a shot as 2011 was the year I turned 19, sat my A-level exams, went on one hell of a summer holiday and started uni - a year of turning points really. I'll also be taking little breaks from the countdown to show my least favourite songs of the year, favourite films, television programs and albums. So sit back and enjoy 65. Ed Sheeran - You Need Me, I Don't Need You Ed Sheeran was deffinately one of my favourite breakout artists of 2011 so it seems only right we start off with his admittedly weakest single thus far. A favourite of mine back in September this song's title seemed somewhat appropriate as I moved out of my mum and stepdad's and into a flat with two mates. From one of my favourite albums of the year, 'You Need Me' is an in your face track about Sheeran's thoughts on the state of the music industry. There's a lot more to come from him as the countdown continues ZXvzzTICvJs 64. Glee Cast - I Feel Pretty/Unpretty Glee is one of my favourite television programmes and though they've done some terrible covers in there time (Somebody To Love by Queen comes to mind here) they're at their best when they do mash ups of songs you wouldn't dream of putting together. I was apprehensive to hear this as TLC are my favourite girlband of all-time and 'Unpretty' is my second favourite song by them (No scrubs is my favourite in case anyone was wondering) however the strong vocals of Michele mix beautifully with Argons's sweeter ones. wVTrgz09qas
  24. Two fantastic songs in a row there and I was thinking that Girls Aloud (along with Sugababes, Coldplay, Snow Patrol and Keane) were one of the best things about British music in the mid 00's
  25. Big Brovaz were truly awful - 02/03 were dark times for British music IMO bar a few exceptions
