  7. 55. Take That // Rule The World // November 2007 Peak: #1 Weeks on Chart: 32 Points: 750 I was a bit too young for Take That the first time around, I vaguely remember them splitting up, so I didn't have much to go on when they came back as far as forming an opinion of them. Patience was a song I really liked but I detested Shine so it was pretty up in the air by late 2007; luckily Rule The World became my favourite song of late 2007 and one of my favourites of the decade as a whole KII1ruAfvsg
  8. 56. Avril Lavigne // Don't Tell Me // May 2004 Peak: #1 Weeks on Chart: 24 Points: 741 Avril's second album is probably my personal favourite from her and Don't Tell Me is the single that led it. I'd loved Avril's first album and her follow up certainly didn't dissapoint with this and My Happy Ending (still to come) making high appearances zMbIipvQL0c
  9. 57. Rachel Stevens // Funky Dory // December 2003 Peak: #3 Weeks on Chart: 21 Points: 730 Rachel Stevens had an epic solo career and this is one of two of her songs which pop up on my countdown. Funky Dory is such an underrated song a shame that it only managed a disappointing peak of #26 on the charts but it got to #3 on mine 5cnEt-U2FQs

Taylor Swift - 22 (Re-entry) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ After previous single Thrift Shop became a #2 hit in December of last year Macklemore gets his first #1 on my personal chart with the beautiful Same Love which I've really fallen in love with lately, my younger brother came out 2 weeks ago and the song has massively helped him and it's just a beautiful message and quite a rare move for a mainstream rapper for which Macklemore is to be applauded. He is head and shoulders above everyone else in the chart out ranking the rest of the top five combined This is bad news for The Saturdays who fall to #2 after spending only one week at #1 with "What About Us" after a steady seven week climb. A lot of big fallers and dropouts this week thanks to an influx of new entries from Justin Timberlake at #3 with Mirrors. It's JT's first top five single since 2009 when he hit #5 with Dead & Gone it's also the highest he has been since 2007 when What Goes Around managed a #2 placing. Suit & Tie hasn't done so well and has had a chart run of 20-33-37-OUT. Also knew is Mariah Carey at #19 with Almost Home marking her first chart appearance since 2009's Obsessed placed at #3. Glee also manage to chart their cover of Anything Could Happen whilst previous released This Is The New Year and Don't Dream It's Over both fall - Season 4 remains Glee's best season music wise in my charts with at least one song from every episode now hitting the Top 20 - the cover of Ellie Goulding's song also propells her original back into the Top 40 since September their covers of "Never Say Never" (#9), "It's Time" (#3), "Chasing Pavements" (#17), "Ooops! I Did It Again" (#4), "Everytime" (#7), "Celebrity Skin" (#20), "Barely Breathing" (#1), "The Scientist" (#4), "Don't Speak" (#16), "Everybody Talk" (#12), "You're The One That I Want" (#19), "Dark Side" (#15), "Holding Out for a Hero" (#10), "Some Nights" (#3), "Whistle" (#16), "All That Jazz" (#19), "Don't Dream It's Over" (#4), "Jingle Bell Rock" (#10), "No Scrubs" (#2), "Locked Out of Heaven" (#15), "Torn" (#9), "Love Song" (#11), "This Is The New Year" (#3), "Girl On Fire" (#20) and now "Anything Could Happen" have reached the Top 20
  13. Case in point Britney Spears's "Toxic" which was a #1 hit in a lot of countries but only got to #9 on the Hot 100
  14. One of the most recent examples has to be Animal by Connor Maynard: 61-34-{6}-7-11-34- Suddenly jumps into the Top 10, stabilizes for 3 weeks before having a massive 23 place drop out of the Top 20
  15. Are One Direction still top of Itunes with One Way or Another in the US? If that's the case then that + gauranteed high YouTube streaming could get them a number one US debut!
  16. I hope Mariah does well with this - first song by her for years that I've actually liked (Don't Forget About Us was the last one)
  17. I love, love, love Foundations so much!!!! I was into Kate Nash for the six months she was considered cool before everyone forgot her Big Girls Don't Cry is a song that means a lot to my sister as she can lyrically relate to it - our father died around this time and she said the lyrics spoke to her. Never really got that, for me it was When You're Gone by Avril Lavigne. Personally, I don't mind the song but I agree it's not something I'd go back and listen to
  18. I'm curious as to how Ed Sheeran will do this year - can he get an other hit after The A Team? And with what?
  19. I'd say Adele will be pretty consistent. Weird choice but The Spice Girls also did consistently well with their US career (Wannabe hit#1. Say You'll Be There, 2 Become 1, Too Much and Goodbye all went Top Ten and Stop and Spice Up Your Life got Top 20)

  21. 58. Justin Timberlake // My Love // November 2006 Peak: #1 Weeks on Chart: 30 Points: 719 JT dissapointed me with 'Sexyback' I'm not gonna lie I really didn't like it at the time although I'm quite fond if it now and My Love seemed refreshing as a result (a feat he has actually repeated with Suit and Tie being followed by Mirror). My Love is easily up there with Justin's best which is a pretty high standard to be honest and this song was my absolute jam for a very long time. Love it, I even love the opening to the video xjpe7EGyiw8
  22. 59. Jennifer Lopez // Love Don't Cost a Thing // January 2001 Peak: #1 Weeks on Chart: 21 Points: 712 #1 SONG OF 2001 My favourite song of 2001 comes courtesy of the third best song from J-Lo's back catalogue (the first two being If You Had My Love and Waiting for Tonight naturally). Now, when we get to the rest of #1 songs of each year I'd argue they've all gone down as classics whereas this, as much as I love it, probably hasn't which just goes to show that 2001 was my least favourite year for music in this decade 4kGvlESGvbs
  23. 60. Kylie Minogue // In Your Eyes // February 2002 Peak: #2 Weeks on Chart: 25 Points: 710 Kylie's back with another entry and her 4th best single of the decade in my opinion. In Your Eyes is quite underrated and overshadowed by it's predecessor but as this chart shows I actually preferred it to Can't Get You Out of My Head OjETibEMbJY
  24. I really want Gabrielle Aplin to do well but I seem to be the only one who likes the song! I think it's lovely
  25. I recall really being into Makes Me Wonder at the time but it was very much a rose tainted glass kind of thing. I had adored them back in 2004 with Harder to Breathe, She Will Be Loved and This Love and I was excited about the new album. It's no Songs about Jane but it's OK though I do prefer Wake Up Call and If I Never See Your Face Again to Makes Me Wonder. That said I can't say I've listened to them for 3/4 years but I'd still happily take them over the dross they put out these days. Songs about Jane will always be one of my favourite album of all-time though Real Girl passed me by at the time can't say I care too much for it
