Will Olivia Dean even be releasing anything new next year? With a top 5 album and Mercury Prize nomination, she’s a clear Sound of 2023!

Survivor UK
I’m glad it’s finally stepping up a gear and turning into the strategy gameshow that I expected at the start but it should not have taken this long! Part of it is probably due to the lack of these types of shows on British TV - the public are used to gameplayer being a bad word. If it wasn’t such an expensive show, I think it could have taken off with a couple more seasons. Sadly I very much doubt we’ll get that chance. There wasn’t the same problem with the Traitors as the strategy is feels more baked into the format and the majority of the players don’t need to be seen as gameplayers in the strategic sense. Joel’s live commentary is quite awkward and grating but I then think of the American alternative of soundbites of the contestants repeating the rules that we’ve just and narrating what we’ve just seen. I would happily listen take Joel over that x

Doctor Who • 2023-
5m was the figure I had in my head as what would be decent so I’m pleased with that. It was the second highest of the night and beating I’m a Celebrity is a great achievement. Apparently the biggest drama launch of 2023 too which is huge, particularly as it is likely to hold that title now! Doctor Who Unleashed also had the highest rating for BBC Three since the channel’s relaunch. The weekly chart position feels like the most telling nowadays (although airing in the same week as nightly I’m a Celebrity episodes won’t help!!). Looking at the last available chart, it would be the 7th most watched of the week and that is just on overnights alone - it will add 1-2m on the final ratings and would probably end up 3rd/4th. It doesn’t matter anyway as they’re already filming Ncuti’s second series and there’s been more speculation this week on the spin-off front. The show is here to stay!

Doctor Who • 2023-
Absolutely everything I want from Doctor Who! It had all the charm of the show that I personally grew up with and was just a whole load of FUN. Yes, the resolution to Donna ‘letting go’ of the DoctorDonna was a bit too easy but I’m not going to complain when we get more Donna out of it. I think the fact it’s 15 years (and not just a couple of episodes later) helps to settle that as her character has changed/grown with having a family and so she’s in a different place even with her memories restored. Also, not sure how I feel about the sonic making forcefields given we’ve already had too much reliance on the sonic in recent years. The data display makes more narrative sense though and makes the sonic are more viewer friendly too. BUT everything else was perfect and exactly what I wanted. Good establishing of UNIT for the new era without being forced and taking over the plot. I need a Meep plushie NOW!! So hyped for next week, given that we know absolutely nothing (and it feels it’s for an actual reason this time!!)

Big Brother UK • Series 20
Chanelle is definitely going but I fear votes are going to be split between Jenkin and Olivia! I’m going to hold off voting until it’s clearer as I’m definitely more fearful for Trish this time round.

Big Brother UK • Series 20
Yep, the more people up, the more likely Trish is to go. For that reason I’m hoping that not all of the foul four are up so the votes can be more concentrated! I think Matty and maybe Henry are the only safe bets as to who won’t be up for eviction

I doubt I can hack another nightly show directly after Big Brother anyway but F*rage is an absolute no go for me.

Big Brother US - Season 25
I clocked out because the same two winning competitions makes me want to watch paint dry instead but would very much be here for a shock Felicia win!

Big Brother UK • Series 20
All that I’ve seen and read about the evil four since Friday is frustrating me to no end as it is SUCH Year 9 school behaviour BUT this is why civilian series are so much better! This is the point where it becomes the true social experiment as the real feelings/personalties truly come out, people have figured each other out more and tensions rise over smaller stuff. It shows how important evictions are to the overall narrative and shape of the show too. I think the effects of Hallie and Kerry leaving removed the middle ground more and cemented the two groups more. Again, it would have been so annoying and frustrating but I’m imagining a world where the series was a couple of weeks longer and say Kerry’s eviction was actually on Friday which built up the group tensions even more and Paul was then evicted this Friday. I do hope the next series is 8 weeks to allow the series to breathe a bit more.

ok now I’m nervous

Big Brother UK • Series 20
I am feeling mildly confident which I never am for evictions that I want to go my way! I think Dylan will have got the majority of votes when it opened and I think Paul has just worsened throughout the week which means he’ll now be getting the majority. Whilst there are some that are wanting Trish and Noki out, it doesn’t appear to be a blanket wish across the Facebook mums like it was with the likes of Hallie and Kerry. It seems very mixed, with a lot wanting Dylan and Paul out.

Really not a fan of any eviction that isn’t live. I think the whole concept of a halloween eviction is perfect but I’d much rather the eviction was live and not announced 24 hours later. Even if it’s too costly to have a full audience, announce it from the Late and Live studio. They already interview them on that show rather than the main one. I’m nervous as to who will be the possessed housemate will be. It kinda feels like the usual point where the show goes downhill and we’re left with a final of Paul/Kerry/Tom/Jenkin/Channelle/Dylan.

Big Brother UK • Series 20
This is what I’m worried about. I can see it being Trish v Paul and it will be one of those where the FB mums save Paul. It’s the exact same old story we’ve seen multiple times on this show and so many other reality shows but I’ve never seen it as blatant as tonight. Olivia was the one being loudest yet Trish was the only one who got the blame and Chanelle is ‘scared’ of her?? So frustrating to see this play out all over again.

Big Brother UK • Series 20
I feel the format of Late and Live needs a lot of work as there doesn’t much structure or planning involved, it’s just lets talk about random things that the guests or audience don’t seem to care about. Give me news, give me exclusives, give me features - just give me a reason to stay watching

Big Brother UK • Series 20
Yinrun </3 my heart! I NEED the crowd to chant for her tomorrow!! They’ve got almost everything right with this series and I’m so shocked after the last era. I feel all the stories are developing so naturally and the tension is really building as it should be. I think tonight shows that you don’t need to throw in random tasks for the sake of it. I just need the series extending by a couple of weeks to allow for a full exploration of all the storylines and tension! I don’t want to lost this group so quickly!!

I can’t believe Kerry was saved last week, she is SO draining and just hoovers up any fun. Farida brought the drama but in an actual fun way. Yinrun & Trish are the unstoppable duo for me, adore their friendship

I’m in two minds about CBB returning as the civilian series IS Big Brother and I liked that ITV was focusing on bringing that back, rather than the easier ratings winner of CBB. I’ve been thinking that maybe CBB damaged the civilian series as it raised expectations about the level of drama required, with the celebrities that were cast essentially knew how to play up to the cameras. I like the greater authenticity that this year’s series has shown the show can still have and it would be a shame to have that harmed again/have attention taken off it. On the other hand, I guess it continues to show their confidence in the brand and wanting to have it long term. I wonder if they would have the more I’m a Celeb/Strictly style casting rather than the direction that Channel 5 went in essentially filling up spaces with someone from that random American reality show.

Kerry is crying out for the attention. She can’t be disgruntled in peace, she needs everyone to notice how annoyed she is! It will be a shame to lose the feud but I’m happy to lose Kerry if all she’s going to do is moan.
