John le Carré published The Little Drummer Girl in 1983, a decade before his Cold War spy novel The Night Manager, which was adapted by production company The Ink Factory for BBC1 in 2016 in a miniseries starring Tom Hiddleston, Hugh Laurie and Olivia Colman.

The Little Drummer Girl is a classic le Carré tale of an everyday person being sucked into the shadowy world of espionage, as an actress (Pugh) discovers her holiday romance (Skarsgård) is actually an Israeli intelligence officer and his “intentions are far from romantic”.

While The Night Manager was brought into the 21st century for its TV adaptation, the team behind The Little Drummer Girl has opted to keep this story in its original period: the late 70s.

Nevertheless described by the BBC as “sharply contemporary”, the six-part series will “weave a dynamic and exciting story of espionage and international intrigue”.

Starring Florence Pugh, Alexander Skarsgård, Michael Shannon, Charles Dance, Michael Moshonov, Charif Ghattas, Amir Khoury, Katharina Schüttler, Simona Brown and Max Irons. It is directed by Park Chan-wook. It has been produced by the same team behind The Night Manager!

Starts tonight (Sunday 28th October) at 9pm aka it's taking over the premier BBC One Sunday night spot!

  2. Khalid has become a real big favourite of mine, after he'd passed me by initially. It wasn't until Silence that I actually got into him and I now adore his album and a lot of his features.

I'm really enjoying this EP too, it took me a while to get into Better but it's hit me over the past couple of weeks. Very much liking Suncity and Saturday Nights too!

New EP from Khalid following the release of his debut album 'American Teen' last year and all the hundreds of songs he's featured on since. Lead single 'Better' was released a few weeks ago!

  4. Akeem is just too competitive (not in a funny way like Tomasz) and too bossy/puts himself in a leader position too many times for me. He takes things too seriously, I really cringed when he was like ‘guys, I’ll get the party for everyone my treat’ ‘guys, I’ll get this gym for us’ - not like he was being generous but like he was doing them a massive favour and they owed him!! He seems to dictate in his head when it’s okay to break the rules and when its not okay.
  5. This is why you shouldn’t have a female Doctor, PC gone mad!!!!!!

In all seriousness, if it is because of that, I’m very very happy for her but it is slightly gutting considering the stop/start in series we’ve been having since Series 7 and particularly after the show is riding a new high. A pregnancy is the only reason I will accept! :kink:

  6. Absolute joke, would it have actually harmed them that much to have it at 9pm for one night to allow a 2 hour show and have a CELEBRATION of a show that has actually given the channel it’s best ratings for the past 8 years?? I don’t think viewers are gagging for the 18th episode of Paddington Station 24/7 that much for it to miss a week.

It has literally got to the point where I’m GLAD Channel 5 have axed it because I’d rather have no Big Brother than continue seeing Channel 5 repeatedly destroy it with a sledgehammer.
