Fresh from Bates Motel, Freddie Highmore is starring as The Good Doctor, a show that has come out of nowhere to become the most watched US TV show currently! It is ABC's most watched Monday night drama in 21 years and is beating the likes of The Big Bang Theory and The Walking Dead in the ratings. It hasn't got full critic's approval but it has received a full series order. Are YOU watching? :o
The premise is simple: Shaun Murphy, played by Highmore, is an autistic surgeon with savant syndrome. His stream of consciousness speaks the language of anatomy, and when the show’s particularly keen on calling attention to his genius, organs and veins and glands float above his head like illustrations ripped from a med-school textbook. “He’s not Rain Man,” says his main advocate at the prestigious St Bonaventure hospital in an attempt to convince the board that Murphy is hirable and high-functioning. To those in the autism community, the show has deftly done just that. “The Good Doctor does a fine job of navigating this razor’s edge,” wrote Kerry Magro on the website Autism Speaks, noting that it shows “several characteristics that can accompany an autism diagnosis such as social awkwardness, lack of eye contact, playing with his hands during stressful situations”. He adds: “Freddie’s take will resonate with many in the community.”https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/20...iggest-new-show

01. Game of Thrones: 11
02. Gossip Girl: 10
03. Skins: 9
04. Sherlock: 8
05. Twin Peaks: 6
06. Les Revenants/The Returned: 2
01. 13 Reasons Why: 15
02. Doctor Foster: 8
03. Jessica Jones: 7
= Scandal: 7
05. Homeland: 2
In a very close run group, US TV shows Game of Thrones and Gossip Girl manage to sneak ahead of two massively popular British shows Game of Thrones and Gossip Girl! Gossip Girl really suprised me here as it only just snuck in into the group stage, with 4 votes in the longlist vote (aka the lowest amount of votes needed!).
In Group D, Doctor Foster just manages to edge ahead of Jessica Jones and Scandal to qualify alongside big 2017 hut 13 Reasons Why which stormed its way into the next round!

I’m sick of hearing ‘all those doubting Bradley Walsh need to watch Law & Order: UK’. Yes, I have watched it and yes, I still find him bad and cringy in it.
I maybe wouldn’t mind if he was a background family member character but I can’t have him being a main character. I guess I’ve been proven wrong with the show before though...
(although I can’t see him giving up The Chase and that will take up a lot of time to film whilst Doctor Who Is a full on production sooo...)

Oh the 10 episodes are going to be 50 minutes long, with the first episode being 1 hour. Shooting starts tomorrow and it will air in the Autumn next year.
So, we are getting less of the show and they’re moving it back to the timeslot where it gets dwarfed by reality TV, IF it stays on Saturday which it most likely will.

I mean...at least he’s not the sole companion I guess?
Not sure about having THREE companions, meaning the audience has the adjust/warm to four main characters all in one go. Maybe Bradley is just the father figure though who stays at home? All signs are pointing to this being a very different show to what we’ve had for the past 10 series so I’m starting to become very nervous.

Netflix's new series is produced and directed by film legend David Fincher (Seven, Fight Club, Gone Girl) who was also involved in House of Cards! It is also produced by actress Charlize Theron (Snow White and the Huntsman, Mad Max: Fury Road) as well as starring Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany and Anna Torv.
Set in 1977 — in the early days of criminal psychology and criminal profiling at the Federal Bureau of Investigation — Mindhunter revolves around FBI agents Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff) and Bill Tench (Holt McCallany), who interview imprisoned serial killers in order to understand how such criminals think and apply this knowledge to solving ongoing cases. It has received a lot of great reviews from critics and viewers alike so really excited to watch this, especially because of David Fincher's involvement!

Went for Torchwood and Cold Feet with Bates Motel very close behind!
Torchwood I have to go with but then I found the second pick really difficult. Bates Motel I've really enjoyed watching but it can be a bit...simplified? idk the right word for what I'm thinking. My parents watched the original series of Cold Feet and I love the way it's done and its tackled some really great issues. I could have gone with The Handmaid's Tale too but I don't think I got into it as much as everyone else! Then of course Eastenders is the best of the soaps and has delivered some great moments. I've seen the first season of How to Get Away With Murder too but it was a bit too trashy for my liking :kink:

This is the worst of the groups for me but went for Breaking Bad and Tracy Beaker in the end.
I don't understand the overdramatic love for Breaking Bad and I really REALLY struggled to get my way through it but I do have to admit that the latter half of the 4th season and the 5th season was incredible. Gone for Tracy Beaker too because what an iconic children's classic.

The "surreal and absurd" series centers around the family life of Miranda Sings, a sheltered, self-absorbed, overconfident and untalented young performer who seeks fame on YouTube. The half-hour episodes depict Miranda's road to fame, and the price she pays for trampling on the feelings of others.

Stranger Things ● Season 2
in Television
Finished my rewatch of Season 1 and I actually enjoyed it even better this time round! The first time I never truly understood the HUGE hype as much as I enjoyed it but I don’t think I focused on it enough when I was watching and it’s always hard to live up to hype on that scale. However, I now very much understand the hype. The rewatch allowed me to really appreciate it’s brilliance.
The show is perfectly paced and every actor is really brilliant in it. The characters all have their own distinct ‘journeys’ so to speak without it being convoluted. The whole tone is absolutely brilliant too and what helps it to stand out, it obviously takes its reference points from classic shows/movies but it stands out brilliantly in its own right! It’s also able to provide a conclusion to the story whilst also leaving it open for intrigue for a Season 2.
And I can’t wait for Season 2!!!
