  1. I can see this being slated, all light entertainment shows in the same vein do now unfortunately. It is nice to see the BBC at least giving a go at a music show, we need more of them for artists to promo/perform on. The only primetime slot (7-10pm imo) available now outside of the Saturday night reality shows is The One Show. :drama:

The trailer is really bad though, they make it out as though Katy Perry and Beyonce are going to join them as guest hosts and then it ends up being Jason Derulo!

BBC One has a brand new primetime music show that doesn't take the form of a reality talent show! Sounds Like Friday Night will air on Fridays for six weeks at 7:30pm featuring a mix of sketches, chats and live performances. Greg James and Dotty will be presenting alongside a new guest host from the music world every week.

The first show sees Jason Derulo join the pair along with performances from Jessie Ware and Charlie Puth!

The show will launch in October and will broadcast live from the iconic BBC Television Centre in White City, the home of so many classic TV shows. The six programmes will be fronted by Radio 1 DJ and presenter Greg James with Radio 1 Xtra’s Dotty. Each week they will be sharing presenting duties with a different major music artist who will complete the hosting line up. The star host for programme one and the future episodes will be revealed nearer the time.

The artist host will be sprinkling their own stardust over proceedings and making every episode a complete one-off. As well as performing live, they will be joining in with the topical entertainment and fun sketches as well as presenting a smorgasbord of the very best in live music from other artists performing in that night’s show. Greg will be interviewing the bands and featuring alongside the lead hosts in sketches. Dotty will be chatting with the guests and the audience and curating the show’s interaction with viewers live on social media during each show, as well as getting out and about meeting music fans across the country.

Greg says: “We have been missing a primetime music show from our TV screens for far too long, so it’s fair to say being part of Sounds Like Friday Night is something I’m really, really excited about. One thing that’s fantastic about the show is being able to provide new and emerging acts a home alongside the megastars, introducing them to a new audience. Also having the opportunity to interview and have a laugh with some of the biggest stars in the world, on the actual telly, is completely brilliant. I can't wait to get going!”

Dotty says: “I’m thrilled to be part of Sounds Like Friday Night, it’s going to be an amazing show. Each week I’ll be meeting fellow music fans from around the UK, getting the lowdown from the viewers on social media and bringing the best music to you at home. I can’t wait!”

  3. Eliott probably didn’t deserve to go because he was very much ganged up on by two people where there clearly did lie a lot of fault. The poster was a shambles and Michaela really should have left time to sort that out. I did feel their idea was much better than the generic, seen it all before girls team which had aneven more generic name. How they got so many orders I’ll never know.

I am glad that Elliot left though as he did seem like someone who was always looking to find blame and I don’t like those types of candidates. Michaela has a lot more potential so, while she should have gone on the basis of the task alone, I’m glad she stayed. Harrison is coming across as a but aggressive so far, I do think there is some potential though and I’d like to see him PM.

Siobhan needs to GO now, an absolute liability and so childlike. I’d noticed it in the first episode when she immediately was being sort of patronising to Elizabeth but she was horrendous tonight.

  4. Aww I'd really hoped Steph & Dom would be able to get further just by hiding in plain sight. They definitely took a... very different approach to what has been seen before!

Can't believe Vogue Williams of all people is Spencer's current gf... she just pops up everywhere but what does she even do?!? Spencer was just an idiot meeting up with her and he deserves to get captured.

  5. This the toughest of all the groups for me. :(

I've gone with Homeland and Jessica Jones in the end which is appropriate as they're probably two of the shows I've been most gripped and shocked by!

Homeland had me constantly on the edge of my seat for the first two seasons as well as many other episodes that followed. It was sort of my first proper foray into more adult US drama and it will always hold a special place in my heart. As I said, the first two series were truly brilliant, it has wavered since then but everytime it has a run of disappointment, it brings me back with a series of killer episodes.

Jessica Jones, as I've said many many times before, is a truly brilliant season of TV and one of my favourites ever. I was really gripped throughout and it had a brilliant dynamic between its hero and its villain, resulting in the best villain of the MCU!

The one that I really REALLY want to vote for as well is Doctor Foster as it is a perfect character drama. Not one character is perfect in it, helping to show a 'real' portrayal of humanity. It has beautiful writing and acting and the Season 1 finale was possibly the best finale TV has seen. (gah makes me wish I'd voted for it now!)

  6. Sherlock and Game of Thrones for me! Two brilliant shows that deserve the record success they've gained.

Game of Thrones has managed to build an enormous world and execute it really well (on the whole) with some absolutely stunning set pieces. Sherlock at its high is a masterpiece in writing, editing, directing and acting aka everything! The quality did dive for a few episodes in Series 3/4 but it is still heads above many other shows!

Special mention to The Returned as the first series was fantastic! I thought it was leading up to something that would be spectacular but the second series was a bit of a let down. :(

  7. Brilliant winner, the sort of theme tune that gave me a huge wave of excitement whenever I heard it when the show was in its hayday (and including a few years ago for me). Stands so strong by itself too, without any knowledge of the show.

G’won Arthur too, what a classic!! I suppose they are alright to beat Doctor Who -_-

Shocked at Game of Thrones being lower than expected but glad F1 & Fresh Prince managed Top 10! All those in the Top 10 are truly deserving and definitely among the best theme tunes of all time and I’m sure most will recognise all of them! Well done Buzzjack for actually good results!!
