The more housemates that they put up for eviction, the more it makes a difference so hopefully ITV learn from that and we go back to the top 2 with the most nominations. The more you have up, the more likely the bigger personality will be evicted as we saw with Nicki in BB7.

That episode highlights why the show is still needed and is relevant! Lots of different life experiences and viewpoints coming together in a way that is just not seen in any other reality show. More diversity in one episode than in ten series of Love Island. The casting looks to be perfect so far, a real great mix. I’m actually shocked! I just hope Yinrun doesn’t get isolated. :(

So thankful that they actually came through on their promises and we got a proper Big Brother cast who are from all walks of life. This is what the show is about at its heart and so already a major step up from the first C5 series! The house looks great (if a little too big oop) and the launch night twist was right level of adding some drama without being too forced. I think it’s pretty easy for Olivia to get that immunity though and I wonder if that was planned before or after she was chosen given her reaction to being put up! The actual production side of the launch night though was a mess. I’ve never been so thankful for ad breaks because I could barely breathe at the pace they were chucking them in there! I’d blinked and two more had gone in. If they were going to rush it like that, I feel they’d have been better off just ditching the live audience/studio and just show them walk straight into the house. I do feel it lost the launch night charm. It wouldn’t be Big Brother if there wasn’t something to moan about :lol: Immediate faves were Yinrun, Trish and Farida. I already know Paul will make the Top 2, if not win, and probably be part of some form of romance. We’ve all been here before…

I do hope we get ‘normal’ housemates from all walks of life but the reality TV landscape is completely different to the C4 era. C4 era was much more slower whereas all reality TV now is so fast paced in the editing and the drama. Audiences now expect drama on Day 0 which ain’t happening unless you have people performing for the camera. If the first series was aired now, it’d be taken off air after a week. I’d say the last C5 series was back to basics and more along the vision of what I’m expecting from the ITV series. I know it had already been cancelled at that point but it wasn’t as though that was able to attract the audience. I just think what people say they want and what they then actually want are different. The internet has also changed reality TV massively. Nowadays if you want to be famous in some way, it’s pretty easy with TikTok/Insta etc and so I’m sure they’ll be at least one or two with a big online following. I’d rather they were banned as they completely lose effect when they’re chanted every week like they were in the C5 era. They’re more effective when used sparingly and then it’s like oh it’s serious.

We’re still getting a normal series! The celebrity version was announced after s2 and was about to start filming literally just as Covid hit so it is very delayed. I agree I’d much rather having normal folk but I’m just seeing it as a bonus, and I think it helps that they’re paired with their family members which keeps it in the spirit of the normal series.
