Missy will be back in the next series! I think they're filming her episodes now so she'll probably be back for the finale or at least towards the end of the series anyway. Really happy about that news as Missy has been excellent and really brings something both fun but dark to the series. Doesn't make me want a female Doctor though!!
Also, there is a REALLY creepy monster been revealed due to pictures taken during filming. To me, they look like the
High Priestess Soothsayer from Series 4's Pompeii episode but they seem really random to bring back
!

Thought the first episode was excellent! I liked how it focused on how community got together to help find her whilst also giving a glimpse into the... oddities of Karen. They really were some odd moments regarding Karen and her partner though including the fact that he was just playing games on his computer and her dancing to the ringtone. Also, I know once Shannon was found it meant that her plan was over and there was a chance she would get caught now but she could at least have tried to cover herself rather than giving the game away by going 'can I go home now' after she'd identified Shannon (if that really happened like that anyway, I know its a drama).

I thought it was good that they were finally bringing it back... until I saw it was Channel 5. It'll just be a big mess, especially if the rumours are true that Vicky Pattison is presenting it. That also means it'll probably me all youth orientated and so all the contestants will be the usual muscle men and fake women. It'll be one series and done.

Loved this show, I just genuinely don't understand how people can actually live in a house that just contains piles & piles of things. I can admit that I can often be a hoarder but there's no way that I could live like that, there's no point keeping things if you can't even get to them because they're under 5 piles of trash!
Sadly I don't think this will be returning, at least not with both Kim & Aggie as apparently they also had an argument a few years ago. Not sure what it was about though. It does seem like the perfect show for Channel 5 to bring back now, especially with all the attention around Kim! Even if they can't get the rights they should bring it back under a new name, they've done it with Snog, Marry, Avoid (100% Hotter), Hotter Than My Daughter as well as all the benefits programs so why not bring back a cleaning show that just happens to have Kim at the forefront!

Trump has now said ANY negative poll is fake news...
Extremtly worrying that he can easily disregard anything that disagrees with him just to protect his ego. Of course there is the actual fact that polls are becoming less accurate as has been seen with Brexit and both the UK and US election but, again, the manner in which he makes the point is scary. The fact that he says that ALL negative polls shouldn't be listened to and that he only mentions the polls that are negative to him too.

You're in for a surprise if you think Jack Sparrow isn't over the top! :P However, its what the character is about and its his defining role really so it does suit it! How have you never seen any of the films though :o
It'll be so interesting to see how this does financially. The others have obviously been HUGE successes which I'm sure Disney were thankful for considering they're the most expensive films in history! That means I'm sure this one is just the same in terms of expense BUT I'm really not sure it will do as well.
There's so many factors against it, the length of time that has taken to come out and people being tired of the Jack Sparrow character as well as the franchise. There's also the backlash against Johnny Depp as well as a now overcrowded blockbuster market. Previously, it was one of the standout blockbuster films of the year but now there's so much competition (mainly even from Disney itself!!) that a few big films are going to falter and underperform each year. We've already seen a few sequels to massive films flop e.g. Alice Through the Looking Glass and Ice Age 5 last year.
My personal prediction is that it be more middle of the road and do $500-600m.

Last time she was on EE I wanted a storyline where Bianca opened a
fashionable boutique and began to movie up in the fashion world....
but they seem obsessed with scruffy markets.... cafes and laundramats.....
In the end Pats thought..... sod this ... I could be over in LA soakin up the sun ....
Who needs a fashion boutique when you can buy all your clothes from the market?!?! :o

They were wrong in the direction that they took his Doctor. They tried making him the opposite of David & Matt's Doctors with this nonsense that he 'deletes faces'/doesn't care about people which is basically what his predecessors were all about! Its wrong to make him unlikeable in that way. Changing the lead actor in any show is a huge gamble as it can be a perfect opportunity for the public to switch off. Therefore, the public needs to warm to the new character and so making the Doctor grumpy and getting rid of those aspects that the public have grown to love just isn't going to work! Making him grumpy didn't work in the 80s and it won't work again!
Don't get me wrong, Peter is a fantastic actor and he's had some brilliant moments, 'Heaven Sent' of course being one of them but the character just isn't right when you're trying to maintain that mainstream audience. He's needs to be likeable, he needs to be friendly and he needs to be caring. Reinserting that Matt Smith-like eccentricness isn't enough.
I think the above needs to happen as well as a more lighter and fewer assumptions that viewers know the continuity need to happen. The show was starting to become written for the fans towards the latter parts of Series 9 especailly, particularly when they were in the old TARDIS. Whilst that's fantastic for a fan, it's hurtful to more casual viewers.

At the end of the day, the majority of voters saw Coleen as the most worthy so she won.
I'm being pedantic to your point but 32% is not a majority. :P Also, I don't think you can say those who voted for her saw her as the 'most worthy', obviously its implied through what you're voting for but I'm sure a lot for votes come from her as a person, regardless of her actions in the house which is why she came 2nd only to Julian Clary in her previous series and why she won now.

Ok, I watched the first two episodes of this and was like wtf am I watching. I think it was a very slow start and I didn't know much about the story going into it other than it being about a missing girl who returned so I was very mystified by the
afterlife
aspect. HOWEVER, once it got going it was excellent and I was especially gripped by episodes 3-5, which were absolutely fantastic in the twist and the turns that they took and the story that they told.
It was really a fascinating series and definitely miles better than I initially thought it was going to be. I thought the ending was brilliant in a way of tying up one part of the storyline
in that the story of The OA is now all told and the 5 characters all got together to perform the movements
but it didn't tie up everything and there's a lot of potential for story that future series can use. I think other series might have concluded the first series by
finding the others who are still kidnapped
and so would be running out of story which is why the quality diminishes. This definitely feels like its going to be a natural progression though. Chapter One of the story has been told in the first series but there's still a wealth of plot to be used for further series.
(although I did say/think that about The Returned and the second series went nowhere)

That's just clickbait journalism. I doubt they'll have started casting for the role yet, and even if they had, it'll have just started as if they'd done it earlier then there's the risk of it leaking that Peter was leaving. It's just that type of awful journalism where they think it's alright to use a few tweets to make an article, I'd expect no less from the Sun.
Just because he's stepped down from a series that films halfway across the world from where his family are doesn't mean he's been cast as the Doctor.
All speculation is just speculation at this point, the only time that it is interesting to read is a day before the announcement as that's when it seems to leak. Anything before that is just clickbait from the media.

So I've finished watching after wanting to spread it out! Really enjoyed it on the whole as it was a really loyal adaptation of the books but it also built on the mystery within the books, perhaps making it more explicit from the start. I liked all the additions such as Olaf making Mr Poe put them in his care and the new VFD characters that helped to showcase more about what the organisation was/is about. My only sort of annoyance in that respect is that their presence meant that the children got loads more help than in the books so they're not as 'alone' as they are in the books and it means that they can't be seen as being as clever as they are in the books (e.g. in The Wide Window, its the children's idea to take the peppermints but in the TV series its Larry).
I think two episodes per book was the perfect length as it does allow it to go into more detail and there was also that room for expansion. I think I did enjoy The Miserable Mill the most, even though its not my favourite book, because with the first three it did feel like we were just retreading steps seeing as though I've seen the film so many times and so it doesn't help when things like Aunt Josephine's house looks so similar in both! Therefore, with the final episodes, it was finally allowed to be something in it's own right and be NEW as there's always going to be comparisons between the film and the series for those first three books.
I think the elements that were really successful was the dark humour. There were some elements of the comedy that were a bit OTT in the bad sense, mostly the ones in the trailer, but overall it did the dark setting of the story/series better than the film whilst fitting in those dark jokes alongside it. I think also in that sense it used the character of Lemony Snicket better. I disagree with Ryan about that, I think he's absolutely necessary to the series especially as he is a character in his own right and not just a narrator. He's really needed to set the tone of the series and add in further those dark humorous moments that can also be paid off in the other character scenes with long-running jokes, such as is seen in the books. Just one example is in The Miserable Mill with the black and white comments.
I think Mr Poe is my favourite part of it all though, which is really surprising for me considering I've never really focused on him before in either the books or the film! I just think he was perfectly written and acted, highlighting the uselessness of him but the fact that he thinks he's always right. I laughed out loud at so many of his moments throughout. I loved his wife as well, especially in the first episode: "well he's right, nobody asked the Baudelaire's", (referring to their destroyed home making the front page) "I thought it would cheer them up". I thought it was a good decision as well for the Baudelaire's to want to go to the mill rather than Mr Poe sending them there as while the whole series as a whole doesn't make sense in terms of decisions, it is quite odd to send them to a mill before sending them to a school or to live with Esme! Again, it shows how bringing the mystery to the forefront from the start enhanced the series as the Baudelaire's are now curious and actively searching for answers from the start. What did gripe me though was where the hurricane hit the house in 'The Wide Window' and basically all the clues just were thrown at Klaus and stayed there for ages whilst he did some magical stunts to survive.
So that twist
went another step further and the parents are actually the Quagmire parents?!?! I was really shocked by that but it was such a good twist and made a lot more sense that the Baudelaire's parents still being alive as I wasn't sure what the plan would be regarding that, there can't be a happy ending after all!! It was good to give us a bit more focus on the triplets and a good introduction for them, to help set up the next series
.
I think the series has given the author the chance to do what he really wanted to do with the film, just he wasn't given the chance as there was only one film! The fact that the spyglass features in both but not in the books showcases that really. I'm just as excited for the next series as thats when it really starts for me! Books 5 and 6 are my favourites and the fact that its all new adaptations from here makes it sooo exciting!

Its BB14 (Secrets and Lies) all over again. Coleen > Jedward > Kim, Sam > Dexter > Gina. The two biggest characters of the series pushed down to 2nd and 3rd by a non-existent housemate.
I think what is annoying me is that the winner is often either a horrible oerson or a housemate who hasn't done anything. Its very very rare that a fun, entertaining housemate wins yet surely thats who people like to watch. If not, why not??

Over and over, the British public continually find new ways to astound me even if I did predict it for those very reasons. Why didn't Julian Clary come in at the last minute to snatch the win off her again! Poor Julie Goodyear. :( I just don't get how people like Bear and Helen win so easy and yet more fun and entertaining villains are unable to win and cam be beaten by someone who did absolutely nothing.
James C's interview was a delight for me, I really want to be his friend! I also thought Kim was going to start having a go at Emma, I woudn't have put it past ger after her argument with Jessica on the first night. I laughed so hard at her best bits, she really has given a lot to the series. That's how you be a villain in an entertaining and fun way.

Bruno Mars & Skepta are confirmed to be joining Little Mix, The 1975 & Robbie Williams as performers! Still waiting on Ed Sheersn tbh!
The show is also going to be extended by half an hour to fit in more music so expect more announcements about performers!
Alice Levine, Clara Amfo & Laura Jackson are presenting the Red Carpet backstage show on ITV 2.

Nicola was booked because she's cheap but good entertainment as she's argumentative. Also, there's only really the twins or Denise from her series who are just as/more entertaining and I dount Denise would do it again after what she did in there and they already had twins Jedward (who are more know to the public) as well as lots of Americans. Its a booking that does make a lot of sense!
All of the All Stars, whilst maybe not my personal picks, do make sense logically especially when you consider the fact they're all from different C5 series. There was a balance of Americans/British, good and evil and you also have to consider that I'm sure a lot of people won't have wanted to do it again!
Regarding tonights episode, it feels like it could go on for another week rather than the final being tomorrow. I've been waiting for this Kim to return and boy, it was good. A lot of the comments in the game seemed to surround James C, not certain on the producer's plan there? Could either be trying to provoke a reaction from him to Kim or give him more airtime to help him win. He was an impressive booking for them in terms of celeb status so I'm sure they're also happy for him to win. I really do think it'll be Coleen though because its always the person I don't want it to be and also the one I don't expect!!
*Bianca wins*
I've actually really warmed to Jedward moreso this past week and can actually tell them apart for the first time ever!! What is happening??!

UK Ratings Discussion Thread 2017
in Television
I don't understand the mammoth success of Call the Midwife! I would understand if it was getting ~6-7m but easily getting 10m each week seems bizarre when I've very rarely heard anyone talk about it, and I mean from ALL generations.
Also, I didn't know Winterwatch was a thing, they're really milking that series of progamming by expanding into the other seasons!
Glad to see Agents of SHIELD still managing to do well for E4!
