I think Dracula suffered in the same timeslot last year but then had a massive increase in the consolidated ratings. I doubt The Serpent will do the same as Dracula benefited from word of mouth but it might rise once its in its proper timeslot. Not seen it yet but I’m looking forward to it!

I’ll take it! Just slightly down on last year’s NYD episode but at least it’s relatively on par with this year’s Christmas Day ratings. Should be over 6m consolidated.

Yeh, I’m really concerned about the change in vaccine strategy. It does not seem to make sense in the long term and I fear we go back to square one in 3 months time where the lack of second vaccine being administered when it should have been means the first one has lost effect. I just hope it’s questioned as soon as possible before it’s potentially left too late. Why do we have to be so inept at everything? It just seems like something they’ll say when it hasn’t worked that it’s easy to look back in hindsight and they didn’t know at the time.
  6. I really enjoyed it and was gripped all the way through! Hopefully we now really are back on track, although I prefer the likes of Spyfall/Rosa/Haunting to it. It did end up being very character-driven which all felt very authentic for a change. Despite the Doctor being in prison ending up being a bit pointless (although PTING and the Silence!!!), the time away because of it wasn’t and helped finally bring out a lot in Yaz and Ryan. It really helped elevate a lot of those scenes and I finally (and I really mean it this time!!) starting getting attached to Yaz. Thought all her scenes were really genuine and I liked that she was focused on trying to find the Doctor. I think one of the weakest points for this group of companions is that they don’t use initiative and they just follow what the Doctor says. I think a lot of that stems from Graham and was seen again in the first scene is the second TARDIS! Hopefully with that out the way, Yaz can flourish and not just depend on the Doctor in her actual actions. I still haven’t fully warmed to Ryan and I think the writing for him is just really wooden. I liked the intention behind the scene with the Doctor but some of the writing was off for me. The departure scene was a lot better though, really well written and I actually felt emotional. Not the same level as other companion departures but it still got me! Again, it felt genuine and I loved Yaz’s response as well. Jodie played it excellently too, again felt emotional that she wanted to fix things. And the return of ‘you’re doing it mate’ omg. Not sure I quite see them defending the Earth though. Sarah Jane and Torchwood they are NOT. Great to have LOTS of Daleks and loved all the build up, the reason for the new Daleks and I actually loved the design, particularly the red! The climax felt a bit rushed though. After such a buildup, once they’d actually started ‘invading’ it felt they were wiped out within seconds, with the Bronze Daleks being wiped out just as quick. I loved the effect of the TARDIS going in the void AND that it tied up the loose end of the stray TARDIS from the end of The Timeless Children. For what felt a random return, I though Jack Robertson was a real highlight of the episode and felt less of a caricature than in Arachnids. I’m actually hoping he returns again in Series 13 to continue his story and expand on the villainy again. I’m shocked Captain Jack’s the last thing I’m talking about but I was expecting a bit more from him and I’m sort of disappointed he didn’t at least die once!! It was nice to have him there though and loved his scene with Yaz. Not sure what happened with his departure and why the whole Lone Cybeman thing wasn’t explained ie how he knew about it. Still, wasn’t expecting a mention of Gwen Cooper! The jury will be out in John Bishop. I’m glad there is confirmation of another companion, just not what I was expecting at all! I would say I’d have liked a younger male but given the terrible writing for Ryan, maybe its best avoided. I’m glad the events of the Timeless Children were addressed as it hopefully shows they will still be followed up and explored. No matter what my feelings on it, I think the worst thing to do is to drop a random bombshell and then never go back to it again. oops I always end up having more thoughts than I realise. It shows my love for the show still ain’t fading because I can’t do it so easily for anything else
  7. Also !!!!!! The Mighty Pting, we are blessed :cheeseblock:
  8. Screaming at getting rid of Bradley Walsh but getting John Bishop in his place Yaz character development tho :cheeseblock: actually looking forward to her returning based on tonight’s epsiode, let’s just hope they continue expanding on it and not let her fade in the background Nearly

Doctorin’ the TARDIS is what everyones been waiting for :cheeseblock:
  12. I suspected something would have to go  We haven’t really had a proper Daleks invasion story since The Stolen Earth. You could count Victory of the Daleks but they essentially create new models of themselves and then run away! Every other time since it’s just been the one Dalek, they’ve been cameos or they’ve been chilling on Skaro.
  13. very excited but it feels like there’s a LOT to cram in which doesn’t fill me with confidence that everything will get the focus it needs.

What were your favourite shows to watch whilst escaping from the world this year?

I think some of the reviews are a bit bizarre in how extreme they are (The Independent seem to randomly be revelling in it as well??), although granted the Biden jokes were incredibly lazy. It wasn’t as funny as Wipe but still great to have something from Charlie and some of the characters were so good. Aside from Diane Morgan being excellent as per, I loved Lisa Kudrow’s character and the Karen character, particularly the cosying up with a cuppa to read the far-right forums and the viral clips of her. Both characters have been done before but they felt pitch-perfect and the most accurate representations. It did feel Netflix had greater control over it and so I missed the proper British perspective but I’ll take anything x

Many places around Yorkshire are lower or at the same level yet have been placed in Tier 4. This graph shows there’s very very few Tier 3 areas lower than some in Tier 4, with the majority on par with those I’m presuming have just been placed in Tier 4: @1344309220628451329

The decisions as to tiers are ridiculous when you compare numbers. It just seems they wanted to avoid the label of national lockdown so gave a few areas Tier 3. With so many areas on the same level as Tier 3 but have been put in Tier 4, it makes no sense as to why the whole of England isn’t in Tier 4.

No. Two full doses is 62% effective or, by accident, it was shown one half dose followed by a full dose is 90% effective.

That’s odd for Masked Singer, I wouldn’t have thought its audience really overlapped with The Repair Shop and whilst it may be odd to launch a show on Boxing Day, it seems the perfect fit for the Christmas period. Seems ITV can’t really catch a break at Christmas and might actually be better off sticking to the endless Harry Potter repeats!

Yeh Sophie really suffered from disguising her voice whereas everyone was able to use their natural voice. The song choice didn’t suit her as much either. Actually really surprised by the standard of singing! There were a couple of obvious duffs last year but they all seemed to be quite good tonight. Sad that Sophie has gone but she was the only one I was certain about so it makes the other episodes more exciting :kink: She’s put on insta that even her one year old knew it was her 😂 Robin being Aston Merrygold is the only other proper guess I could make but that was more to do with the voice itself rather than the clues. NO clue about the others so far. I don’t think Billie Piper would return to singing in any format so Sausage definitely isn’t her.
