I enjoyed it on first listen! It‘s essentially Jessie really letting loose and just having fun. It doesn’t come near What’s Your Pleasure for me which was a lot more slicker and smooth whereas this is very much in your face. It’s such a contrast though from pre-WYP!

Great turnaround for AJ after being unjustly fired from BBBOTS! Will Best seems a bit random but I guess there’s already chemistry with AJ from doing previous shows together. Good that they’ll also be doing the spin-off shows too! I feel bad for Rylan but it makes sense to have as clean break as possible from the Channel 5 days. I’m sure he’ll be a regular on the spin-off.

Not defending the media but this is what they do and what they’ll continue to do until the end of time. Every Spice Girls member is asked about the Spice Girls in every interview, even asking about if a reunion is on the cards just after they’ve reunited for a tour. Every actor in Friends gets asked about Friends in every interview despite it ending nearly 20 years ago and them being clear that a revival won’t ever happen. Unfortunately she needs better preparation as to how to answer these questions in the aim of avoiding such press about it.

I knew it would be rebooted at some point but I was still expecting it to be a few years away (more like 2030). I was expecting it after they’d finished the Fantastic Beasts franchise but I guess that flopping has meant plans have needed to advance. I know there’s still so much appetite for all the Harry Potter merch but the films are still so popular and respected that this feels totally unnecessary. As Chez says, it’s not as though they’re really needing to remedy any wrongs. Yes they cut things out but, off the top of my head, there’s nothing that strikes me as overly essential. I can only think of lots more Quidditch, ghost stuff (incl Peeves) and Hermione’s free the elves storyline. The whole franchise is just getting milked until it’s as dry as a bone. I know the studios see the importance of intellectual property but at least do something new with it. And if there’s no new stories to tell or those new stories aren’t popular, maybe give it a rest!!

Some very exciting news that, after three years away due a certain something spoiling the ability for anyone to easily move between countries, Race Across the World is BACK. This time though they will be staying in the same country as they move from Newfoundland to Vancouver — a 16,000km journey. Really pleased that this is now able to be back, especially as it looked near impossible before. I remember Series 2 aired right at the start of lockdown, we’ve been on a journey since then :lol:

I thought the point was Rise and Fall, where is the falling?? Why didn’t Ramona go down to be a grafter? I thought the point of the show would be you can rise to the top but, be careful, because you can easily fall right back into being a grafter and it would be about the power struggle to stay on top. I think that would be so much more interesting, with so much more story, than just churning out new people. I really think it’s a massive error in the format, which could have generated a lot more talking points. I think the danger is that now becomes a bit more faceless and generic.

Space Man was pretty consistent on iTunes in comparison to previous years. I know it doesn’t count for many sales but I remember it was a sign of its popularity that it was hanging around whilst previous years dropped like a stone before re-emerging from the ashes after the actual show. It was obviously streaming where it was lacking.

And I stand by it!! I still like Embers as a song, and it was nice to send something more modern than the very cheap production middle of the road entries we’d kept on sending. The performance fell very flat but it still didn’t deserve nul points I’d happily take these Love Island songs like these over any of the You Decide / legacy artist ones.

Putting it in the same category as Josh Dubovie is incredibly dramatic!
