I don't really think there were many surprises tonight. Pretty good list so far, only a few random inclusions. I really hate The Drugs Don't Work though.

Yeah fair point, her movement and return game has only really started to click today but I can only see Serena improving from here on in. The only name I personally see troubling her is maybe Azarenka, but her serve has been terrible so far and her game neutralises so much on the grass so she'll have to step it up. Radwanska on the other hand has had possibly the easier draw ever to get through to the QF and is struggling to dispose of Kirilenko who has no major weapons. However you never know, just look what happened in last years US Open final - Stosur who usually crumbles under pressure playing the match of her life to beat Serena.

What? She'd destroy all three of them :D None of them will be able to hit through her. Especially not on grass

Sharapova and Clijsters both out. No dream QF :( Lisicki played out of her mind today and Maria must have taken a leaf out of Serena's book on how not to return. Unfortunately for her she doesn't have Serena's serve to counter-act her poor returning, which is usually her biggest weapon. I think it is clear from this that grass is now Maria's worst surface. She seems to able to get very little rhythm and facing a ball basher on their day (Lisicki, Serena, Kvitova), she just can't compete with them. Kerber today reminded me of Petrova in the AO 2010 when she beat Kim dropping just one game. She aswell played out her mind and sort of reminds me of Kim when she was at her best - counter punching at its peak. So, sad Maria lost but at least we still get a Kvitova-Serena QF. The winner of that should take the title. I also want to see Kerber in the final (even if it is just to stop Radwanska getting there.) Oh and I also think Vika takes the number one ranking back if she beats Ivanovic today.

I did read on tennisforum that the WTA may enforce new rules targeting up and coming players so that coaches don't teach the grunting. Sharapova herself said it would be a good idea but the grunting is something that she was taught and that you can't exactly ask her to just stop after she's been doing it for nearly 20 years, so that targeting a new generation of players is a good idea. I quite like that thought as well.

Why should she if there's no rules against it?
