  1. Based on the number 100 being on 0.0164 now, it looks like Robin Thicke is finally beginning to fall, and quite quickly too. I'm sure he'll get another week over 100k and easily block Jason Derulo and Dizzee Rascal from number 1, but it's going to be a close battle with the Wanted next week I think!
  2. Pretty sure it will, they were out of the top 40 on iTunes at the beginning of the week and were still low top 40 (around 38?) in the Wednesday midweek because of the EP sales. Since then, the song has actually risen around 20 places and is only now beginning to fall again, so I think they should be safely top 40 :)
  3. Well I for one will be buying Kodaline's album and not Kanye's because they have actual talent and don't make complete trash which can barely be called music... But that's just my opinion. To be honest I'd prefer pretty much any album in existence being number 1 ahead of Kanye West because he really doesn't deserve it and his ego doesn't need to be boosted any higher. I mean, I'd even be happy with Emeli Sande getting another boost and blocking him from number 1, that's how strongly I feel
  4. Haha, thanks!
  5. What happened to Little Talks by Of Monsters and Men? I'm pretty sure it should have appeared by now but can't remember seeing it  Edit: Sorry, found it, I was expecting it to be higher but realised sales only go up to 2012, ignore me
  6. I hate the fact that fake versions even exist in that they take sales away from the original, and the people who make the fake versions are making money from a song that isn't even theirs. Some kind of law should be written making it illegal to put a cover of a song on iTunes before the real version is out. However, in this case, I'd actually like it if loads of people bought a fake version and it did well in the charts, just to teach Icona Pop's label a lesson to show them how stupid they're being! Also, Leah McFall won't be top 5 this week. She's already down to number 6 combined, behind Robin Thicke, Naughty Boy, Daft Punk, Passenger and Taylor Swift :)
  7. Some songs get too much hate :( +15 Union J - Carry You +12 2 Chainz feat. Wiz Khalifa - We Own It +10 David Guetta feat. Ne-Yo & Akon - Play Hard +08 Jessie J feat. Big Sean & Dizzee Rascal - Wild +06 One Direction - One Way Or Another +05 Jennifer Lopez feat. Pitbull - Live It Up +04 Pitbull feat. Christina Aguilera - Feel This Moment +03 will.i.am feat. Britney Spears - Scream & Shout +02 Nelly - Hey Porsche +01 Emeli Sande - Read All About It Pt. III -05 Naughty Boy feat. Sam Smith - La La La -02 The Lumineers - Ho Hey (Not my favourite two songs but they don't deserve as many points as they're getting here)
  8. Taylor Swift could well be top 5 this week - probably behind the again-static current top 4
  9. +5 Naughty Boy feat. Sam Smith - La La La +4 Daft Punk feat. Pharrell Williams +3 Olly Murs - Dear Darlin' +2 Passenger - Let Her Go +1 Rudimental feat. Ella Eyre - Waiting All Night -1 Robin Thicke feat. TI & Pharrell - Blurred Lines -2 Fuse ODG - Antenna -3 Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Ray Dalton - Can't Hold Us -4 Jessie J feat. Big Sean & Dizzee Rascal - Wild -5 Union J - Carry You Frankly one of the best top 10s in ages. Like last week there are only two songs I dislike - shame the terrible "We Own It" has been replaced by the awfully generic "Carry You" :P
  10. Well thanks! I won't try to convert you because I appreciate when people have different tastes, but I just love how I can really tell that their music is from the heart, and it's such a catchy song - and Steve Garrigan's voice is far nicer to listen to than Roy Stride's! ;)
  11. And I thought you and I could get along... :( Love Like This is probably my favourite song of the year so far :P
  12. It appears that Robin Thicke is going to have another absolutely massive week of sales - according to kworb the number 100 is on 0.0129 which is about the lowest it was when Daft Punk were at their peak - so he could be on for 160k this week :o
  13. I don't actually think Let Her Go will make it, at least not any time soon. Its sales are starting to fall already and it might stick around for a while but has sold less than 400k so far so it seems a bit unlikely. Get Lucky will obviously do it and I think Blurred Lines might as well after this amazing start, as it doesn't even seem to be dropping much on iTunes yet. Same with La La La, that too has a (small) chance. I don't think anything else this year will do it, though Just Give Me A Reason might sometime next year. As for releases later in the year, it doesn't happen that often that a release in the second half of the year sells a million before the year end, but I have a feeling something could do it. I voted 3.
  14. +5 Naughty Boy feat. Sam Smith - La La La +4 Daft Punk feat. Pharrell Williams - Get Lucky +3 Olly Murs - Dear Darlin' +2 Robin Thicke feat. TI & Pharrell Williams - Blurred Lines +1 Passenger - Let Her Go -1 Rudimental feat. Ella Eyre - Waiting All Night -2 Demi Lovato - Heart Attack -3 Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Ray Dalton - Can't Hold Us -4 Jessie J feat. Big Sean & Dizzee Rascal - Wild -5 2 Chainz feat Wiz Khalifa - We Own It Pretty good top 10 actually!
  15. 97. Kodaline - Love Like This Noticed it's 59p so I think it could do as well as High Hopes! Might stick around for a bit as well since I'd guess it's got more widespread appeal - but maybe that's just wishful thinking. I think I'll be watching the iTunes chart all day now
  16. At this rate it looks pretty likely Union J will be number 2. I don't think there's a chance of number 1 though, they're not as popular (or as good - never thought I'd be saying that but their song's terrible) as One Direction who got 150k with their first single, and Robin Thicke should be looking to be not far off that in his second week, so I don't think Union J have a chance.
  17. 819. Kodaline - Love Like This Come on, backing this all the way to the top 40! I don't care as long as it gets there next Sunday! I can see why people would be buying the EP instead of this though, it's fantastic!

I love Now 42 purely for having Tender by Blur on it :D
  20. Really really hope Love Like This does well for Kodaline, it's such a great song! And a bit less "boring" than High Hopes so maybe it won't get so much hate on here (though I love that too). Anyway, I've had the EP and album on pre-order for months now, so glad they're finally coming out soon! :D Oh, for anyone that hadn't noticed, I like Kodaline.

I have the first Now album, as well as 8 and all of 37-84. I occasionally buy old ones from a shop near me which sells them, getting Now CDs from the 90s is a really nostalgic feeling! I don't know who it is that was on Now albums 28 years apart (surely that would mean they were on at least one between 2011 and 2013, and I've just checked all from 78 to 84 and can't see anyone obvious - unless this includes the spin-off albums as well, such as Now Love or Now Running) but Phil Collins was on both the first one in 1983 (with You Can't Hurry Love), and Now 68 in 2007 (with In The Air Tonight, it re-entered the chart after that Cadbury's gorrilla advert). A gap of 24 years. :) Edit: Ah, it was already answered, it's Brian May - sorry!
  22. 6 versions in the top 1500?! :o
  23. +5 La La La - Naughty Boy feat. Sam Smith +4 Get Lucky - Daft Punk feat. Pharrell Williams +3 Olly Murs - Dear Darlin' +2 Passenger - Let Her Go +1 Armin Van Buuren feat. Trevor Guthrie - This Is What It Feels Like -1 Rudimental feat. Ella Eyre - Waiting All Night -2 Chris Malinchak - So Good To Me -3 Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Ray Dalton - Can't Hold Us -4 2 Chainz feat. Wiz Khalifa - We Own It -5 David Guetta feat. Ne-Yo & Akon - Play Hard I find it funny that the three songs which have left the top 10 this week are the three songs which entered it last week - not really a clearout at all!

Occasionally when I browse CDs I will take a closer look at something with a nice looking cover, and probably be more likely to be convinced to buy it, but I still won't if it's a kind of music I don't really like. I'll definitely say that it often happens that both covers and titles dissuade me from buying something - if I pick it up and think, that looks/sounds stupid, I won't buy it. However, this happens quite rarely seeing as whatever browsing I do, I usually only buy an album if it's either by an artist whose albums I always get, or if I've been listening to them a lot recently and have heard some songs from the album, so in general it's the music itself that I choose based on. Having said that I still get annoyed if someone I like comes out with an album that looks stupid
  25. Can't believe Robin Thicke is nearly in the top 10 on pre-orders! It's amazing how this year has gone from relatively slow in terms of singles sales, to massive, in the space of a few weeks! :D
