iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 24th February 2013
I would honestly buy Mirrors if it didn't have the three minutes at the end. I'm sure if he released a radio edit he'd get far more sales!

SPORCLE by Buzzjack
Thanks for the suggestions, I have edited it now. In fact there are 16 bonus answers, I basically just copied all the ones that I knew were close to a million and were likely to make it soon - the number of bonus answers has decreased recently because so many songs which were close have made it, and become real answers. Glad you enjoyed it :D

Streaming Sales
As far as I'm concerned, any concept of what effect it will have on the songs in the chart and how long they stick around for is irrelevant. The original idea of the chart (in the UK, at least) was to say which songs sold the most copies in that week - any other measure of popularity shouldn't be included in my opinion, because that was the whole concept of the chart. Songs get loads of views on YouTube but we don't include that in the chart. Streaming's not really buying the track, you pay a subscription to be able to listen to whatever you want, which is not the same as buying a particular song. It's true that if streaming takes over the singles market then the current singles chart will have extremely low sales, but that doesn't matter - just because there are low sales, doesn't mean the original point of the chart has been changed. There is a streaming chart separate to the singles chart, and whether or not that becomes the chart that's more relevant to what people are listening to in the future, in my opinion they should never be combined. Also, if they are combined, I think any rule which involves manipulating the chart so that a song that's been in there for ages leaves more quickly, will completely devalue the whole thing. If a song is popular enough to be in the chart, it shouldn't be removed just because people will get bored of it, it would just make a mockery of the whole system.

The End Of HMV
Both of the stores in my city appear to be staying open then. I can't say I'm surprised considering how busy they both are, you can barely move for people most of the time!

Survey : Physical album buying
I only buy CDs usually, in HMV, because I love having the physical copy, but occasionally I download an album if I can't find it in a shop. Also I get iTunes gift cards occasionally, which I usually use to download individual songs from albums if I don't want to buy the whole album. Sometimes I do get the whole album, but I always regret not getting the physical copy afterwards, especially if I really like the album. Once HMV has closed though, there will be nowhere in my city where I can get a good selection of CDs, and I might have to resort to buying off Amazon - which I have done in the past but don't like doing, it's not really the same as browsing through the huge selection at HMV. I refuse to convert to downloads whatever happens in the future. :(

Biffy Clyro for number 1!!! That would make My Life (see what I did there?)

New Release Schedule: Monday 7th January
The sales are going to be so low, why is nothing big being released in the next couple of months? Last January we at least had people like Jessie J releasing big singles and some big anticipated albums like Lana Del Rey's, but this year there seems to be nothing :( On the other hand, this month will be great for those people who like to complain about the albums market collapsing!

iTunes Weekly Thread: W/C 23rd December 2012
Well this is depressing. All the songs I like have gone down or not benefited from the gift card effect yet. And it now looks pretty certain that James Arthur will sell a million copies, and that PSY will probably overtake Gotye eventually. Not by the end of the year, but still... :(

Predict : XF Winner's 1st week sales
Looking on iTunes James Arthur is currently selling around 10 times the amount will.i.am is selling. Assuming that will.i.am would have had first week number 1 sales of around 80k (I have no idea to be honest) that puts James on roughly 800k, which is a ridiculous amount. Taking into account the obvious trail off in sales towards the end of the week I'd say it's possible he'll do 500k... I know X Factor winner sales have been suffering lately, but I think the decision to make this a charity single has paid off on Simon Cowell's part. It's obvious he's done it in an attempt to rescue the show which is clearly on a popularity decline, but it appears to have worked, and whatever the intentions it can only be seen as a good thing that so much money will go to charity :)

Gezza's Review Of Every No 2 Hit 2005-09
So glad you are doing this era, it's when I started to get into the charts for the first time (I was about 10) although I do remember many of the songs before that, this is the first time from which I remember all of them. Listening to them now makes me realise how bad the charts were at the time, but I still can't help liking them because they represent my childhood. I have to say though, Put Your Records on was one of my favourite songs, and I have to say I still really like it! Anyway, looking forward to 2007-9 and hearing your opinions from that period :)
