You have to love the fact that there are two songs in a row with the same name!

I only buy CDs usually, in HMV, because I love having the physical copy, but occasionally I download an album if I can't find it in a shop. Also I get iTunes gift cards occasionally, which I usually use to download individual songs from albums if I don't want to buy the whole album. Sometimes I do get the whole album, but I always regret not getting the physical copy afterwards, especially if I really like the album. Once HMV has closed though, there will be nowhere in my city where I can get a good selection of CDs, and I might have to resort to buying off Amazon - which I have done in the past but don't like doing, it's not really the same as browsing through the huge selection at HMV. I refuse to convert to downloads whatever happens in the future. :(
  4. I think you will be wrong there since it's at 14 on iTunes, and it hasn't even been released yet!
  5. I can't believe Ho Hey has been in the top 20 for 12 weeks - and easily could be next week too, based on iTunes right now! :o

Sales of the top 3 are going to be so close. I'd be excited, if I actually liked any of them
  7. +5 Taylor Swift - I Knew You Were Trouble +4 Olly Murs feat. Flo Rida - Troublemaker +3 Rihanna feat. Mikky Ekko - Stay +2 David Bowie - Where Are We Now? +1 Bruno Mars - Locked Out Of Heaven -1 PSY - Gangnam Style -2 Pitbull feat. TJR - Don't Stop The Party -3 Calvin Harris feat. Tinie Tempah - Drinking From The Bottle -4 James Arthur - Impossible -5 will.i.am feat. Britney Spears - Scream & Shout Yet again, there is nothing I really like in the top 10 :(
  8. Biffy Clyro for number 1!!! That would make My Life (see what I did there?)
  9. The sales are going to be so low, why is nothing big being released in the next couple of months? Last January we at least had people like Jessie J releasing big singles and some big anticipated albums like Lana Del Rey's, but this year there seems to be nothing :( On the other hand, this month will be great for those people who like to complain about the albums market collapsing!

+150 Coldplay - Paradise +140 Gotye feat. Kimbra - Somebody That I Used To Know +130 Gabrielle Aplin - The Power Of Love +120 Jessie J - Domino +110 Maroon 5 feat. Wiz Khalifa - Payphone (would be higher if not for Wiz Khalifa) +100 The Script feat. will.i.am - Hall Of Fame (would be higher if not for will.i.am) +90 Florence + the Machine - Spectrum +80 Olly Murs feat. Flo Rida - Troublemaker +70 David Guetta feat. Sia - Titanium +60 fun. feat. Janelle Monae - We Are Young +50 Sam and the Womp - Bom Bom +40 Robbie Williams - Candy +30 Swedish House Mafia feat. John Martin - Don't You Worry Child +20 Gary Barlow & the Commonwealth Band feat. Military Wives - Sing +10 Katy Perry - Part Of Me -10 James Arthur - Impossible I was torn between this and Heatwave to vote down, but in the end I chose based on the massive injustice that is the X Factor getting yet another rubbish cover version to sell a disgustingly large amount of copies
  11. +5 Taylor Swift - I Knew You Were Trouble +4 Olly Murs ft. Flo Rida - Troublemaker +3 Robbie Williams - Candy +2 The Justice Collective - He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother +1 Labrinth ft. Emeli Sande - Beneath Your Beautiful -1 Rihanna - Diamonds -2 Bruno Mars - Locked Out Of Heaven -3 PSY - Gangnam Style -4 James Arthur - Impossible -5 will.i.am ft. Britney Spears - Scream & Shout Saw this and it looked like a great idea so I decided to join in  It's a shame that the top 10 is so awful this week (imo of course) - I don't even really like Taylor Swift...
  12. Well this is depressing. All the songs I like have gone down or not benefited from the gift card effect yet. And it now looks pretty certain that James Arthur will sell a million copies, and that PSY will probably overtake Gotye eventually. Not by the end of the year, but still... :(
  13. Looking on iTunes James Arthur is currently selling around 10 times the amount will.i.am is selling. Assuming that will.i.am would have had first week number 1 sales of around 80k (I have no idea to be honest) that puts James on roughly 800k, which is a ridiculous amount. Taking into account the obvious trail off in sales towards the end of the week I'd say it's possible he'll do 500k... I know X Factor winner sales have been suffering lately, but I think the decision to make this a charity single has paid off on Simon Cowell's part. It's obvious he's done it in an attempt to rescue the show which is clearly on a popularity decline, but it appears to have worked, and whatever the intentions it can only be seen as a good thing that so much money will go to charity :)

  15. So glad you are doing this era, it's when I started to get into the charts for the first time (I was about 10) although I do remember many of the songs before that, this is the first time from which I remember all of them. Listening to them now makes me realise how bad the charts were at the time, but I still can't help liking them because they represent my childhood. I have to say though, Put Your Records on was one of my favourite songs, and I have to say I still really like it! Anyway, looking forward to 2007-9 and hearing your opinions from that period :)
