I find it ridiculous that the US charts even include views of videos which have the song as their background music. Seriously, how does it represent the popularity - it rarely happens that people are actually watching it for the music. I really hope this never happens in the UK (which I don't think it will, even if they include streaming, the OCC aren't that stupid)

5SOS may have a massive lead but I don't see them selling much more than 100k at the rate they're falling. Of course they're probably still going to be #1 but I'm praying for a miracle anyhow...

Still love it, but people are going to be complaining about Counting Stars rising next week! On the other hand, it'll fall more rapidly after this boost so could only get a couple more weeks in the top 40!

#SELFIE is one of those songs that's so bad, but isn't even funny to redeem itself. I mean there's a lot of total rubbish out there, but if it makes the top 10 (which looks pretty likely now) it would probably be one of the worst songs ever to do so... Why Radio 1 are even touching it is beyond me. I hate them, but give Gangnam Style and The Fox back now, please...

I really hope it's somebody massive that nobody predicted... A Take That comeback would be nice :)

5SOS will be extremely frontloaded, it's just a question of how much of a lead they can build up on Sunday. Unpopular opinion but I don't actually mind the song, there are far worse out there in the same style. I still don't think it should get #1 because of how generic it is though.

With regards to the Human League, I can see the song overtaking John Legend to get to #3 before it starts to drop. I doubt it's only Aberdeen fans buying it though, its visibility on iTunes is probably leading quite a few people to buy it who know it as a classic and have no idea why it's back. Because of that I think it can stick around at least long enough to chart quite highly this week, hopefully top 10 as that would be incredibly surreal! It'll probably be out of the top 40 this time next week anyway though.

It's funny because I think basically the exact opposite of this. Groovejet probably wouldn't be a #1 today, but I doubt anyone would buy Out Of Your Mind at all - or at least, I think the former is a classic whilst barely anybody remembers the latter. Also, Sophie Ellis-Bextor is more relevant than Victoria Beckham! :lol:

I hate this idea simply because it's impossible to determine how many "streams" constitutes a "sale"... There's already a separate streaming chart, why do we need it to be included? Who cares if sales go down, the point of the singles chart is to tell people which are the most bought songs of the week and that's the way it's always been - if the streaming chart becomes more popular than the singles chart then so be it, but I don't think they should be combined. As well as the fact that it will be so much easier to abuse, once you've paid your subscription you can just spam the same song over and over again to get loads of sales. When I buy a song I will usually listen to it hundreds of times, and yet that only counted as one sale. It hardly seems fair however you judge it. But, my complaining is hardly going to change their decision... *sighs* :(
