I do t think I’d heard this before this rate. It was ok but I’m not too sad to see it go this early.

Paddington James ranks the 2011 #1's
13 – Heart Skips a Bit – Olly Murs ft Rizzle Kicks 1 Week at #1 / Weekly Sales – 109,151 #21 in EOY 2011 – Total Sales of 503,500 Olly Murs rose to fame after finishing as the runner-up in the sixth series on The X Factor in 2009 and released his debut self titled album in 2010 which peaked at #2 on the UK Albums Charts. Debut single Please Don’t Let Me Go debuted at #1 but follow up singles Thinking Of Me, Heart On My Sleeve and Busy each saw diminishing returns peaking at #4, #20 and #45 across the rest of 2010 and first half of 2011. So when it came to launching his follow up album I’m sure there would’ve been discussions on whether or not Olly would follow the path of most pervious X Factor acts and fizzle out or would he defy the odds and have a successful sophomore campaign. That question was answered in August when the lead single Heart Skips A Beat from the second album In Case You Didn’t Know debuted at #1 with sales of 109,151. Despite spending just the one week at the top it would spend 6 weeks in the top 10 and 10 weeks in the top 20, the longest running of Olly’s singles to date. The #2 that week was also a new entry, Calvin Harris’s single Feel So Close which fell short by 21,306 copies. Also in the charts that weeks Bruno Mars fourth single Marry You peaked at #11, Jessie J’s Who’s Laughing Now peaked at #16 and the Adele’s monster hit Someone Like You dropped out of the top 40 for the first time since mid February. On the song itself it’s one I loved at the time but over the years I’ve found myself going back to it less and less, particularly as Olly continued to release more music in the years that followed.

I really hope she goes back to the classic Kelly sound too, but I’m not sure she will. I’m still looking forward to this regardless.

What Kind Of Fool and Did It Again, two wonderful mid 90’s Kylie songs. Slow has grown on me over the past 23 years, I actually enjoy it now.

Paddington James ranks the 2011 #1's
14 – Promises - Nero 1 Week at #1 / Weekly Sales – 46,700 #135 in EOY 2011 – Total Sales of 164,200 Promises is up next and follows on from Louder before it, being songs that both have dubstep influences. Released as the fourth single from British dubstep group Nero’s debut album Welcome Reality it would have the lowest first week sales for a #1 when it sold 46,700 copies. This is another one of the songs I have no memory of hearing before starting this rank but started to get into the more I listened to it, for me it wouldn’t have sounded out of place on Katy B’s album from around the same time. Elsewhere in the charts that week Titanium by David Guetta and Sia debuted at #16, though it would be another five months before that song would really catch on.

I wasn't a big watcher of football before today but penalty shoot outs alone are brilliant!
