Sainsbury's to stop selling CDs
The charts arent just for under 50s. Just because older people may have different music tastes doesnt make those tastes any less relevant or important.

Sainsbury's to stop selling CDs
Yes i was about to mention the christmas market. I guess supermarkets sell cds to casual buyers who spot say the newest Ed Sheeran album on sale without necessarily having realised it had been released. Also additional 'stocking filler' type pressies at christmas like you said.

Italy v Spain
I think Italy will win but Spain are capable of snatching it by the odd goal if they play well. Expecting a Italy v England final on Sunday.
-
England v Denmark
I also think England will edge it, but in a tight game anything can happen.
-
England v Ukraine
Depends how you define "deserves"? Sport isnt a charity, they dont give the prize to the most deserving, you win on merit or not at all. They have two hard games left, anything can happen, a sending off, injury to a key player, a dodgy pen/deflected goal against them, etc. Denmark shouldnt be underestimated.

ABBA’s album “ABBA Gold” reaches a massive milestone!
20 years on the album chart is a massive achievement, but i also thing More Abba Gold is as good. There are a few more albums that will surely reached 1000 weeks at some point, Queen GH, Rumours, and Bob Marley's Legend. But Abba will always be the first.

OCC: Ed Sheeran's Top 20 Biggest Songs
Isnt streaming basically a count of how many times a song is listened to. If you bought a 7 inch or 12 inch, cd or whatever, the number of times it was listened to was unknown, you could listen to it a million times, or once, made no difference, it was counted as one sale and one only, it wasnt an indicator of how many times it was consumed.

Spreadsheet
Does anyone have examples of the chart show being broadcast on a day other than a Sunday (e.g. for bank holidays or special events?) i have picked up two examples of the chart not being broadcast at all, in 1987 (switched to new chart being announced on Sunday) and 1997 ( Diana's death).

Spreadsheet
I am thinking about putting a chart spreadsheet together to capture available information in one place. Each row would be one chart week, identified by the w/e date. I would like to include the broadcast date for that chart, the chart show presenter, the number of songs on chart, the number of new entries, with a running total for songs on chart, whether the chart has featured on pick of the pops, and the number 1 artist and song that week. I could do similar for the album chart also. It would be a definite list of totals for chart weeks and charted hits for anyone to check against. Is this something people would be intetested in? What information would be useful to include?

UK Chart Stats
It is great to have all these interesting stats in one place, is it possible to add "slowest climb to No. 1" for albums and "fewest weeks on chart for a No. 1"?

The STATE of the album chart~
Is this something we see in other charts, such as the Billboard (which publishes 200 places on their chart). Or is it unique to the uk's chart rules? Is there any part of the world where physical music sales are still rising?
-
The STATE of the album chart~
How would a greatest hits album be defined for the purposes of a separate chart? An album may have a mixture of new material and old hits, what if some of the old hits had been re-recorded for instance? And what status does "previously unreleased" material have?
