What can I say about Kate Bush. Her music has completely underpinned my life. Most of her albums have been fantastic and even the two exceptions (The Red Shoes and Director's Cut) have beautiful moments. The best thing David Gilmour ever did was discovering her and then making sure she had the time to develop as a performer and artist. No way would that ever happen now.

I really must get my act together and vote in the final.

Thought I'd revive this as it was about time I got off my arse and did something around here! The idea is to nominate your five favourite tracks from 2013. Anything can be nominated as long as it was released as a single/album track/made the charts this year. Obviously this is genre based so anything that would normally be discussed in this forum can be nominated. Please don't choose tracks which have been previously nominated in this thread. You're just wasting a nomination! I'll keep the thread open for a couple of weeks and then the voting thread will open.

Oh three stupendous tracks in a row! Cannonball is one of the all-time great singles, possibly outshining nearly every Pixies track. And that era of The Waterboys seems to have been completely forgotten. I loved the whole of the Dream Harder album. An absolute gem.

Lita and Bonnie are "rock" in the same way that Meatloaf is "rock". L7 were truly rocking. Heart started out rock, went a bit mushy and have come back around to rock. Kenickie were just fab. Not exactly rock but more indie.

Speak for yourself. Hole did some pretty good records. Shame Courtney is such a train wreck.

Good Grief Alex! A right rock song! Shame Shitlist wouldn't have made your chart. Is this where we see a Riot Grrrl/Grunge infiltration? Bikini Kill, Huggy Bear and Hole at #1? Hmm, on reflection probably not.

I'm sorry but apart from about two tracks, the works of SAW were the works of Satan and proof that the devil does not own all the best tunes.

They have just got worse with age if anything.

I remember a lot of these all being around in the mid 70s when I was about 6 or 7 and none of these seemed cool. Brotherhood of Man were a joke then let alone someone actually saying they like them now I loathe The Carpenters. The Osmonds were always just really creepy. Bucks Fizz were around in 1981-83. Then you actually had pop meisterworks by the dozen from ABC to The Human League to Blondie to Duran Duran and so on and to be truthful they just pale into insignificance besides these. I was just so lucky to enjoy my pop years when i was turning into a teenager during the early 80s when pop was just fantastic. There seemed to be so much to choose from.
