  1. [postER WAS BANNED FOR THIS POST] (and other posts and general attitude also)
  2. Never minded, I daren't post for fear of being called a xenophobe again.
  3. All rioters should be locked up. Whatever their background/reason.
  4. I think she's definitely a contender.
  5. They're suspecting it's Ecoli, so probably due to the water. If they've got any sense they'll call of tomorrow's mixed relay.
  6. So not only do we have to put up with the ridiculous universality entries in the 100m we also get a qualifying system where you can run faster than others ran in other heats and still get knocked out in other distances. Absolutely ridiculous, should be 8/9 fastest runners on an overall leader board through to the final. None of this crap knocking out faster runners who happened to be in faster heats - totally unfair.
  7. Track events at last - now it feels like an Olympics. So aside from the preliminary 100m women's rounds with all the no-hopers who got universality places a decent morning of watching the athletics. The real fun starts tonight with the women's 5000m heats and the first medal in men's 10000m final.
  8. Universality places are an absolute joke.
  9. They aren't trans athletes in these boxing matches. They're DSD athletes (like Caster Semenya). They're banned from competing in IBA events due to their testosterone being too high. Athletics has banned DSD athletes in women's events and boxing really should have done the same thing - as it has done outside the Olympics. I understand the DSD athletes feeling hard done by bit it but it's the only practical solution.
  10. Just catching up on the racewalking Brian Pinta of Ecaudor wins the men's race with a time of 1:18:54 Yang Jiuya of China wins the women's race with a time of 1:25:54 Next medal event on the track is the 10,000m run at 20:20 tomorrow evening.
  11. Just a reminder for anyone who still wants to vote this closes tomorrow at 23:59.
  12. So the athletics programme kicks off at the ungodly hour of 6:30 in the morning tomorrow UK time with the 20km race walk. The women's 20km race walk will set off at 08:20. There will be no 50km race walk this Olympics with a mixed sex relay race walk taking it's place instead - part of the drive for gender equality across the games. Athletics weekly has a preview for the 20km individual races here.
  13. Alex Yee takes the gold in the men's triathlon with an extraordinary burst of speed at the end to pass Hayden Wilde of New Zealand. Great drama in both the triathlons today, think having them on the same day is actually better.
  14. Great Britain's Beth Potter takes home a bronze in the triathlon.
  15. Going ahead. Women's race starts at 07:00, men's race at 09:45
